PART 55: A BURNING FIRE OF HOPE...
Giyuu slammed his door shut, falling to his knees. He covered his face, letting out a soft, muffled cry.
He weeped quietly for minutes, unable to believe that he got his feelings played with.
How stupid can I be...?
He continued to cry till there were no tears left.
Sanemi hurried to Giyuu's place, almost running at this point.
"Giyuu... Giyuu I need to see you!"
As soon as he reached, he knocked on the door, very impatient.
With no response, he called out.
"Giyuu, it's me... Please, open the door!"
Giyuu's eyes widened. He refused to open the door at first, but after a minute or two, he finally wiped his tears off.
He opened the door, looking at Sanemi as he sniffled. His eyes still had a certain shimmery gleam, and Sanemi could tell it was because of his tears.
Without any knowledge of what Tengen said to Giyuu a few minutes ago, Sanemi stepped closer, still desperate and frustrated.
"We need to talk."
He cut his words short, trying to get to the point.
Giyuu shook his head, all his love for Sanemi had already faded away.
"I... I don't want to..."
He tried to leave.
Sanemi was caught off guard by Giyuu's reaction. His heart started beating even faster, and his hands formed fists.
"Wait!"
He grabbed Giyuu's arm, trying to stop him from leaving.
"That's not what I meant!"
"Hm...?"
Giyuu looked up at him, his own heart beating fast. But his eyes sparkled with sadness.
Sanemi took a deep breath, a sudden realization that he had to clear up the situation.
"Please don't cut me off like this... you've changed, Giyuu! You weren't like this before... I'm really sorry, just, please... give me a last chance..."
His voice trembled, as if trying to hold back tears from overflowing.
"Hmm..."
Giyuu looked down with a sad expression on.
Sanemi stared at Giyuu's face as he reached out to tilt his face up a little.
"I'm not joking, Giyuu... it was all my fault that you got so cold... but what you looked like before, when you were kinder... I was so happy..."
Giyuu opened his mouth to say something but no sound came out. He was trying really hard to keep his tears from overflowing. He closed his mouth, nodding gently.
"H-Hm..."
Sanemi felt irritated by Giyuu's emotionless response. He leaned closer to whisper.
"I've always loved you, Giyuu..."
He gently cupped Giyuu's face with his hand.
"Even when you don't love me back... I still want to try again."
Giyuu's eyes widened, he looked at Sanemi, his heart racing.
Is he pretending to love me again?
He didn't know who to trust, and if anything Sanemi said was true, he couldn't listen to himself either. A lot of pressure started building up inside him, his heart pounding inside his chest.
Sanemi knew Giyuu was feeling uneasy, but he didn't back down.
He leaned next to Giyuu's ear, whispering.
"Do you think we can...?"
"No..."
Giyuu stepped away, swallowing hard. He cleared his throat before turning around and dismissing Sanemi.
Sanemi's eyes widened. He couldn't help but feel his chest tighten up in worry and disappointment. But before Giyuu turned away, he reached out for his hand.
"Please... don't be like that... I promised I will change! Do you think your cold demeanor can keep us apart forever!?"
He snapped, his anger fuming out.
Giyuu's eyes widened, his tears rolling down his cheeks. He refused to turn back, not wanting Sanemi to look at his face.
Sanemi sighed softly.
"I'm sorry for shouting at you, I know I'll never be the partner you want me to be... but, I really am trying! And I don't want you to leave me like this, please!"
His voice trembled, his heart hammering inside his chest.
"C-Could we ever be like what we were before...?"
He asked, his eyes filled with hope.
Giyuu's eyes widened.
How can he still toy with me like this...?
"We can't!"
He snapped, sniffling softly.
Sanemi's eyes widened in despair as he looked at Giyuu, his voice shaking with emotion.
"Then just say it... Say that you hate me... That you never loved me at all..."
He stepped closer, his hand reaching out to touch Giyuu's shoulder, but he hesitated.
"Please... Just tell me the truth..."
Giyuu chuckled softly, sarcasm dripping from his tone. He finally turned around to face Sanemi.
Sanemi's eyes widened at the sight of Giyuu's fresh tears.
"Why should I bother to tell you the truth? When all this time... you've only lied to me!"
Giyuu's voice trembled slightly, his expression clearly hurt.
Sanemi's eyes widened as he took a step back, his hand dropping to his side. He looked at Giyuu with a mixture of guilt and pain.
"I... I never wanted to hurt you..."
He clenched his fists and turned away, taking a deep breath before turning back to face Giyuu.
Giyuu's eyes widened, his heart beating faster than ever as his anger got the best of him.
How can he still continue to pretend...?
"Sanemi... You know what? Not everyone's a liar like you! Do you really enjoy playing with my feelings!?"
He snapped out of anger.
Sanemi's expression darkened as Giyuu accused him of playing with his feelings. He stepped closer to him, his voice low and intense.
"What the fuck did you just say!?"
"You heard me just fine the first time!"
Giyuu yelled, his frustration fuming out.
Sanemi's eyes narrowed as he took a step closer, his anger boiling over.
"What the actual fuck do you mean, Giyuu!? You think I've been playing with your feelings all this time!!? I'VE NEVER LIED TO YOU ABOUT MY LOVE!"
He shouted, his chest heaving with exertion.
"SHUT UP ALREADY! DO YOU THINK SHOUTING THIS WAY PROVES YOUR POINT? DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ME!?"
Giyuu screamed out of irritation.
Sanemi's anger reached a boiling point, and he slammed his hand against the wall next to Giyuu.
"I NEVER SAID THAT!"
Giyuu pulled him by his collar, his tears rolling down.
"DO YOU EVEN REALISE? I LOVED YOU SO MUCH!"
Sanemi blazed up with anger, gripping Giyuu's wrist tightly.
"AND YOU THINK I DIDN'T LOVE YOU!?"
Giyuu's voice cracked very slightly.
"YOU NEVER DID! SO STOP PRETENDING AND-"
Sanemi cut him off.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR BULLSHIT! I GET IT, IT'S MY FAULT YOU'RE UPSET!"
He yelled out, scoffing with annoyance as his anger fumed up even more.
"BUT IS IT MY FAULT THAT YOU'RE BEING SO COLD AND DISTANT? IS IT MY FAULT THAT YOU'RE ALWAYS CUTTING ME OFF INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO ME!? YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DOESN'T OPEN UP OR LET ME IN!"
He screamed, shaking Giyuu violently.
"TELL ME!"
Giyuu's eyes widened, his heart pounding inside his chest. Sanemi's words seemed to cut him deep, triggering his tears.
Sanemi stared at Giyuu who kept quiet, his own tears starting to form.
"YOU think I'm not hurt because of your coldness!? YOU fucking think I don't hate myself for hurting you in the first place!?"
Giyuu gasped softly.
"You-" His voice cracked.
"I hate..."
He couldn't finish his sentence, his tears streaming down.
Sanemi looked at Giyuu, his own tears falling down his cheeks. He let out a deep, shaky breath, trying to control himself.
"I know... I know you hate me, but you have to understand, Giyuu... I never lied to you about my feelings, and I still love you! But this wall between us, it's only getting thicker..."
Giyuu couldn't hold it in any longer. He burst into tears.
"You- You... I only acted cold and distant because I was hurt....and I-I wanted to teach you a lesson! I... I NEVER MEANT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN!"
He snapped out of anger as he continued to cry loudly.
"G-Giyuu..."
Sanemi murmured his name softly, not expecting the response he got.
"...O-Only if you would understand..."
Giyuu sniffled, weeping loudly.
"But I guess all you care about is shouting like this... I... I have feelings too, you know?"
His tears streamed down his chin as he gasped for air.
Sanemi felt a sharp pain in his heart, realizing that Giyuu was just as hurt as he was.
"Don't... Don't ever expect us to get together!"
Giyuu stormed off, extremely hurt.
As Sanemi watched Giyuu storm off, he couldn't help but feel disappointed and defeated.
He looked at Giyuu disappear into the distance, but he couldn't move. His heart ached at the words he had just said.
"Wh-What have I done...?"
He fell to his knees, holding his head. He weeped softly with frustration and regret, his chest rising and falling.
The only burning fire of hope he had for Giyuu to get back to him...
...had extingushed.
