PART 54: HEARTBREAK.

Sanemi soon wiped his tears off and started pacing around his room, trying to come up with a plan to win Giyuu back.

"I have to make it up to him, I have to prove my love..."
He muttered to himself, his heart aching with every passing second.

"...But what can I do....?"
He was really restless.

He couldn't sleep that night, hardly able to keep calm.

What if Giyuu finds someone else now...?
His eyes widened.

"No, no, no... Th-That wouldn't happen..."
He reassured himself.

He eventually stopped pacing, and turned around to face the window again, his mind blank.

"Why did he have to go so far...?"
He was more curious than hurt as he looked at the moon.

"But... I guess I deserved it..."
His mind went straight back to the time when he broke the promise of taking good care of himself.

He sighed.
"He must've found out..."

Clearing his throat, he looked at the floor.
"Well, I don't care about whatever the fuck happened now, I'm just going to make things right."

He took a deep breath in, gazing at the stars again.
"Please wait for me tomorrow, Giyuu..."

It was the next morning soon.
Giyuu woke up, his mind still on about Sanemi.

I'll be there to see you, Sanemi... I'm sorry for everything...
He swallowed hard.

Sanemi woke up too, a little late to prepare himself.

"Crap, I overslept..."
He got up and quickly geared up, before rushing towards Giyuu's place.

On his way, he met Obanai, who stopped him as he looked really restless.

"What happened to you, Shinazugawa? You look so uneasy... everything alright?"
Obanai asked, frowning as he stepped closer to Sanemi.

Sanemi took a deep breath, trying to compose himself.
"I-I'm fine, Iguro... Just a little stressed..."
He answered while avoiding eye contact.

Obanai raised an eyebrow, his eyes fixed on Sanemi.
"You don't usually act like this... Tell me, what happened?"

Sanemi sighed, realizing he couldn't keep it a secret.

"It's... Tomioka."
He admitted, finally meeting Obanai's gaze.

"I-I promised him that I would take care of myself... and I didn't..."
He added, taking a deep breath in.

Obanai raised an eyebrow again, his eyes filled with curiosity.

"Why would you make a promise that you can't even keep? Are you dumb?"
He questioned.

Sanemi gritted his teeth, irritated by Obanai's words.

"I'm not! I just... It's complicated, okay!?"
He exclaimed, feeling the weight of Giyuu on his shoulders.

What a beautiful day...
Tengen was walking in that direction when he heard the two.

He looked at the two from the distance.
"Is that Shinazugawa and Iguro?"
He questioned as he squinted his eyes.

"Well, what about your promise now?"
Obanai asked Sanemi, slightly concerned.

What's this promise they're talking about?
Tengen wondered.

"I don't fucking care about his promise!"
Sanemi clenched his fists as he exclaimed.

Oh damn... I should let them be...
Tengen turned around to leave.

Sanemi paused for a while before running a hand through his short hair.

"I... I only care about him."
He admitted, feeling defeated.

Obanai placed a hand on Sanemi's shoulder, reassuring him.

"I know how you feel... when you can't help yourself even though people look out for you..."
He swallowed hard.

"Why don't you eat, Iguro-San!? This is sooo delicious! I get worried when you don't eat... Eat more, okay?"
Mitsuri's voice echoed inside his head.

"It's difficult to give up on habits..."
Obanai trailed off as he looked away, releasing Sanemi's shoulder.

"But I'm sure you'll figure it out..."
He sighed, meeting Sanemi's gaze again.

Sanemi nodded, understanding what Obanai meant. Despite the weight of his problems with Giyuu, he couldn't help but smile slightly. He knew that Obanai understood him, and that felt comforting.

"Thanks... Iguro..."
He said, expressing his gratitude to him.

"No problem..."
Obanai turned around.

"Good luck with that..."
He walked away.

Sanemi watched as Obanai walked away, feeling his mood lift slightly. The weight of his problems with Giyuu seemed even heavier now that Obanai had left. But he knew he couldn't just give up on him... He owed it to him to try and make things right.

Giyuu was in his place, getting ready to meet Sanemi to apologise for his childish behaviour.

As he stepped out, he walked to Sanemi's place, his heart beating faster than ever.

Sanemi continued to walk to Giyuu's place, his heart pounding inside his chest.
"Calm down, Sanemi... it'll all be okay..."
He told himself.

I hope you'll forgive me, Sanemi...
Giyuu looked at the sky as he walked fast.

"Tomioka?"
Tengen looked at Giyuu, who was really restless.

"Ah... Uzui-San."
Giyuu stopped in his tracks, facing Tengen.

"Where are you headed?"
Tengen asked, scratching the back of his neck.

"To Shinazugawa-San's place..."

Tengen's eyes widened as he remembered what Sanemi said back there.

"...Tomioka."

"Yes?"
Giyuu looked at Tengen.

Tengen's usual mocking demeanour faded away as he stepped closer.
"Is everything alright with Shinazugawa?"

"H-Huh? What do you mean?"
Giyuu looked up at him cluelessly.

Tengen narrowed his eyes, placing a hand on Giyuu's shoulder with a surprisingly gentle touch.

"Tomioka. Don't play dumb with me. I heard what Shinazugawa said. Did you two have a fight?"

Giyuu's eyes widened.

F-Fight...? How did he... Find out? What did Sanemi tell him...?
He was really surprised.

"Tomioka? You okay?"
Tengen shook Giyuu's shoulder.

"Wh-What did Shinazugawa-San say?"
Giyuu asked, as if desperate to know the answer.

Tengen's eyes narrowed slightly, sensing Giyuu's uneasiness.

"He said that he didn't care about your promise. It sounded like you two had a falling out. Is that true?"
He looked at Giyuu with concern, his usual bravado gone for the moment.

Wh-What...

Giyuu's heart shattered with hurt when he heard the words. He looked down, trying to control himself.

I was right... He didn't really care...
His heart hammered inside his chest, his breathing heavy with hurt.

"...So he was just playing with my feelings?"
Giyuu mumbled quietly, his voice trembling.

He couldn't hold his tears in for long, and they overflowed.

Tengen leaned closer, his eyes widening at the sight of Giyuu's tears.

"Did he break your heart?"

"Forget it, Uzui-San..."
Giyuu sniffled, storming to his place with anger, frustration and hurt.

Tengen watched Giyuu leave, his own heart beating with sympathy for Giyuu.

"Tomioka..."

He felt his heart shatter at the thought of Giyuu getting his heart broken.

"...I feel so sorry for you..."
