PART 39: STUPID SHINAZUGAWA-SAN!
"What friends, Shinazugawa-San...?"
Giyuu raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
"Do you not know the meaning of friends, Tomioka?"
Sanemi chuckled, ruffling Giyuu's hair.
"But what about... Yesterday?"
Giyuu asked cluelessly, almost mumbling the last part.
"What about it?"
Sanemi asked, clearly as confused as Giyuu was.
Giyuu's eyes widened.
He doesn't remember...?
"N-Nevermind!"
Giyuu chuckled softly.
He really forgot!? This is so bad... My confession... It all went to vain!
Giyuu felt like he wanted to cry.
Why does this happen to me...?
"Tomioka...? You okay?"
Sanemi placed his hand over Giyuu's shoulder.
"Y-Yeah I'm fine..."
Giyuu replied, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
Sanemi looked concerned, he wanted to know what Giyuu was hiding.
"Don't be like that, Tomioka... Something happened yesterday, right? You can tell me what happened... Just give it a try... Maybe I could remember it then?"
He smiled, trying to seem approachable.
Giyuu sighed, deciding to give the idea a try. He took a deep breath in.
"Do you remember the note you gave me yesterday?"
"N-Note...?"
Sanemi tilted his head to the side.
"Yeah..."
Giyuu nodded, hoping Sanemi would remember.
"I-I don't know how to write Giyuu... I thought I told you...?"
Sanemi replied.
The words pierced Giyuu's heart and he regretted giving that a try in the first place.
He sighed. The development he had with Sanemi, the good memories, they were all partially forgotten by Sanemi now.
"Is something wrong, Tomioka?"
"Yes, Everything..."
Giyuu replied, clearly pissed off.
"You don't remember anything that I told you yesterday, all the words?"
Sanemi shook his head.
"I... Don't."
"Great... You don't remember anything."
He got very angry as he stood up.
"See you, Shinazugawa-San!"
He pouted as he turned around to walk away.
"H-Huh!?"
Sanemi was surprised at Giyuu's sudden change in demeanour.
"The- The hell do you mean by that, Tomioka!?"
He quickly held Giyuu's hand.
"Wait!"
His grip on Giyuu's wrist tightened.
Giyuu turned around, exhaling as he slowly let go of his anger.
"I'm sorry Shinazugawa-San, it's just... It makes me really upset to think that you forgot some things... You still remember the charm you gave me, right?"
"Of course I do... I remember everything that happened before, except... For what the fuck happened yesterday... I try so fucking hard to think and-"
"You don't have to stress yourself out."
Giyuu smiled, stepping closer to Sanemi again.
Sanemi sighed, pulling Giyuu into a warm embrace.
"Thank you for understanding, Tomioka..."
He sighed softly.
"I'm glad I have you in my life..."
Giyuu blushed a little.
I guess it's okay if he still remembers all the times of the past... It seems that he's only forgotten the events of yesterday, for which I shouldn't be blaming him... I suppose I'll have to try to make him remember again?
The two didn't say anything, just wrapping their arms around each other quietly.
That's when Shinobu came into the room. As soon as Giyuu saw her, he pulled away with embarrassment almost immediately.
Sanemi's expression turned apologetic at the sudden intrusion, his gaze flicking to Shinobu before returning to Giyuu.
"Ah, I... I didn't hear you come in, Kocho..."
He tried to brush off the awkward moment, but the blush still painted his cheeks.
"I'm sorry I barged in without saying anything!"
Shinobu chuckled nervously.
I could've let them have their moment! Why did I have to come in right now?
She sighed, a wave of disappointment washing over her.
"...I brought you your medicine, Shinazugawa-San..."
She smiled, her gaze shifting to Giyuu, who was really flustered.
"Good morning Tomioka-San!"
She wished, completely aware that Giyuu was embarrassed enough to dig up a hole and hide inside it.
"A-Ah... Good morning..."
Giyuu wished back, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
Sanemi took the medicine from Shinobu with a nod of thanks, his attention still divided between her and Giyuu.
He cleared his throat, trying to regain some composure.
"I think we were just... talking about... um..."
Shinobu chuckled softly.
"You don't have to tell me! Also, Tomioka-San... could you come here for a moment?"
She called Giyuu.
"What is it...?" Giyuu stood up. She gestured him to go to the other room and so he did.
Sanemi's eyes followed Giyuu as he left the room, his gaze lingering on the doorway even after he'd disappeared from view.
He let out a soft, disappointed sigh, his shoulders relaxing slightly now that Giyuu was gone.
"Shinazugawa-San forgot about almost everything that happened yesterday, Tomioka-San!"
"Well, I just figured it out, why couldn't you tell me earlier... I made a fool out of myself again!"
Giyuu asked.
"I didn't even know you were here..."
She said.
Giyuu sighed.
"Alright, what do I do now?"
Shinobu gave him a proud smile.
"Leave this to me!"
"For now, let's not rush things... We should let him heal."
She added.
Giyuu sighed.
"Okay..."
"Since you're not the type to confess first... You'll have to wait for his confession, which shouldn't take long as Shinazugawa-San's a pretty straightforward person."
Shinobu said.
Giyuu stared at the ground as he blushed, nodding gently.
"We'll have to find a way to make him remember yesterday, Tomioka-San... We'll look through this together..."
Giyuu nodded, walking back to the room. As soon as he did, Sanemi smiled, as if waiting for him eagerly.
"You're back..."
Giyuu nodded, smiling softly as he sat by Sanemi. The two talked for almost a whole hour.
Giyuu laughed softly as he talked with Sanemi. Though Sanemi forgot about a few things, the moments they shared now were nothing different.
I love you, Tomioka... I wish you could just keep smiling like that...
Sanemi stared at Giyuu who was laughing and talking, his gaze fixed onto Giyuu's beautiful eyes.
He exhaled softly as he was too lost in his eyes, smiling blankly as he looked at Giyuu.
"...And then my crow just came to me walking because he had some trouble in flying- he's just getting old and weak..."
Giyuu laughed softly.
"You're damn adorable, Tomioka."
Sanemi said, exhaling softly.
Giyuu's eyes widened, taken aback by the sudden change in tone and the unexpected compliment.
"W-What?"
He cleared his throat, his face flushing slightly as he looked away, trying to compose himself.
"I-I don't think that's relevant, Shinazugawa-San..."
Sanemi snapped back to reality, his eyes widening as realisation hit him.
"Shit... Did I say that out loud?"
Giyuu swallowed hard, his gaze darting between Sanemi and the floor as an awkward silence stretched between the two.
"Y-Yes, you did..."
He muttered, a small smile playing on his lips.
Sanemi blushed even more when he realised that he said the second sentence out loud as well.
Fuck! The hell is up with me today...
"It's... Uh... I meant- adorable in like, a cute way... Wait, no! I didn't mean that! I meant-"
Sanemi stuttered as he went red.
"What that fuck is wrong with me today!?"
He covered his face up in embarrassment.
Giyuu looked at him, chuckling softly.
"You're adorable too, Shinazugawa-San."
He smiled softly, causing Sanemi's heart to pump out of his chest.
F-Fuck, Tomioka's so cute...
Sanemi breathed heavily.
He could feel his nose bleeding, he quickly wiped the blood off as he breathed slowly.
Giyuu's eyes widened, his concern for Sanemi increasing. He didn't want Sanemi to feel weird around him.
He shook his head, attempting to reassure Sanemi despite his own flustered state.
"It's... it's fine, Shinazugawa-San."
His voice was soft, gentle almost as if trying to soothe him.
"We all have moments of..."
He stuttered as well, unable to find the right words.
"...moments of uh... Um... W-weird, I mean! Uh... Strange... No, that's not the right word.... um..."
Giyuu paused, inhaling slowly.
"...E-Embarrassment..."
He finally said it, breathing out.
They are both so stupid!
Shinobu face-palmed, losing all hope she had in Giyuu.
A few minutes had passed.
It was getting late now.
Giyuu finally got up to leave.
"Y-You're leaving...?"
Sanemi asked.
Giyuu nodded.
"I'll be here to see you again, Shinazugawa-San.."
He smiled.
"Heal up soon, okay?"
He sighed, waving at him as he slowly walked away.
Sanemi waved back as he watched Giyuu disappear into the distance.
I love you, Tomioka...
