PART 22: FEELINGS LEFT UNSAID...

Sanemi and Giyuu didn't even realise how fast the time went by.

Three days had passed by in no time.

It was finally the day when they had to leave for the headquarters.

"Take care, Grandma."
Sanemi ran his hand through his hair.

"I will look forward to meeting you in the future..."
Giyuu bowed.

"I will... look forward to it... as well."
She smiled at the two.

"Take care of yourselves, Okay...?"
She held Sanemi's hand, staring at it for some time. She then held Giyuu's, holding both of them in a firm grip.

She squeezed their hands, pulling them closer to each other.

"I hope..."
She paused abruptly.

"I hope you two stay together like this, forever..."
She smiled.

Both Sanemi and Giyuu blushed, looking away from each other.

"I... I guess we should leave now."
Sanemi said, his blush deepening.

Giyuu nodded.
"It's getting late..."

Mayumi laughed softly, waving the two goodbye.

It was scorching hot, Sanemi and Giyuu could hardly walk properly.
They felt like they could evaporate with the extreme heat, the sound of crickets everywhere.

Giyuu sighed.
"How long is it from here?"

Sanemi exhaled, looking over at Giyuu.
"I guess half an hour... Or maybe even more."

Giyuu nodded, his gaze shifting to his feet.

After a complete hour of walking in such heat, the two finally reached the headquarters.

They made their way to the Ubuyashiki Mansion.

Kagaya was sitting there, calmly.

"Sanemi, Giyuu."

"Yes Master."
The two bowed, looking at their master.

"I'm very proud of you, good job..."
Kagaya smiled.

"Thank you, Oyakata-Sama..."

"Just keep practicing, we can defeat Kibutsuji Muzan if we work together, hand in hand."

The two nodded.

Kagaya ended the meeting with a soft, warm smile.

Sanemi stood up, making way to his Estate.

"Shinazugawa-San..."
Giyuu stopped Sanemi, stepping closer.

Sanemi turned around, looking at Giyuu curiously.

"Hm?"

Giyuu blushed as he looked at Sanemi.

Shinazugawa-San looks so nice today...
No no, he looks nice everyday...
He smiled at his thoughts.

"I was wondering if you'd like to come to my place."
Giyuu asked, his eyes filled with warmth and hope.

Surprised by the request, Sanemi's expression softened for a moment as he smiled softly.
He took a deep breath, his eyes still locked onto Giyuu's.

"I'd like that. But only if you promise me one thing."

"Yes?"
Giyuu asked almost immediately.

"...That,"
Sanemi paused for a moment.

"That it's just us. I don't want anyone else interfering, or trying to take what's mine..."
He said, almost mumbling the last part.

"Yours...?"
Giyuu tilted his head to the side innocently.

"Are you bringing some valuable things along with you?"
He asked, puzzled.

Sanemi soon realised what he said, his blush deepening.
"I-Its nothing, forget it..."

Giyuu was clueless.
He sighed softly before continuing,

"Let's go, shall we?"

Still feeling embarrassed but relieved that Giyuu dropped the subject, Sanemi nodded and smiled.
"Yeah... Let's go."

As Giyuu walked to his place, he quickly opened the front door, allowing Sanemi to walk inside.

"I...I'll get you some tea..."
He walked to the kitchen.

Sanemi nodded as he took a look around Giyuu's estate, noticing the simple yet cozy decor and atmosphere.

Giyuu soon walked in with a cup of tea in his hand.
"Here..."
He smiled softly.

Sanemi smiled back, taking a sip and acknowledging the taste.

"Damn Tomioka, it's fucking good... Must say, your wife would be one lucky woman..."
He laughed a little.

Giyuu felt his heart sink as he looked at Sanemi.

"M-My wife...?"

Sanemi laughed again.
"Ofcourse! Just imagine you wake up in the morning and your husband offers you such amazing tea, it'd be great, wouldn't it?"

Giyuu nodded, his smile fading a little. "You're right..."

Noticing the change of expression, Sanemi asked,
"Hey..."

He placed the cup on the table before reaching out to touch Giyuu's hand.

Giyuu blushed as he felt Sanemi's hand on his, looking down at his hand in shock.

Sanemi smiled warmly as he gently squeezed his hand, noticing the flush on his cheeks.

"Hey... Everything alright?"

"Y-Yeah... Everything's... fine."
Giyuu muttered under his breath.

Sanemi nodded, not fully convinced but he didn't push the matter further.

"...Tomioka, I don't know what's going on inside your head, but whatever it is..."
He paused, locking his eyes with Giyuu's.

"You can always tell me..."
He smiled reassuringly.

Giyuu smiled back, a little bit of relief washing over him. His heart was still racing.

Sanemi leaned in closer, his face inches from Giyuu's as he whispered,

"...And I'll be right here, waiting..."

He looked deep into Giyuu's eyes, his own eyes filled with a mix of affection, concern, and maybe even a hint of... Possessiveness.

Giyuu gasped softly at the words, his blush deepening.

Sanemi quickly dropped the act, laughing heartily.
"...Looks like I got you embarrassed, huh? Your cheeks are red, Tomioka..."
He teased.

Giyuu's eyes widened as he placed his fingers over his cheek.
"Um... I-I..."

Sanemi chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Don't worry about it, Tomioka..."

"Huh...?"
Giyuu's blush deepened even more.

Sanemi looked at Giyuu for a while, his own blush spreading accross his cheeks.

He scratched the back of his neck.
"...Y-Y'know?"
He paused for a moment, as he looked across the room awkwardly.

"Y-You're cute when you're flustered..." He couldn't believe what he just said, but he tried to seem nonchalant about it.
His blush was more evident now.

"H-Huh...?"
Giyuu's face was fuming red.

"W-What're you saying, Shinazugawa-San?"
His heart was pounding inside of his chest as he covered his face in embarrassment.

Sanemi's eyes widened as he realized what he had said, his face flushing a deep red to match Giyuu's.

"Ah! N-Not that, I-I..."
He stuttered, looking away, trying to hide his embarrassment.

"It's nothing, forget it..."
He murmured.

Giyuu nodded, his blush never leaving. "D-Do you want to go outside, it's very hot in here..."

Sanemi looked back at him, trying to compose himself.
"Yeah, sure... The fresh air might do us good..."
He stood up, towering over Giyuu.

"Let's go for a walk..."
His tone was gruff, trying to mask his flustered state.

"M-Mhm..."
Giyuu stood up after him

Sanemi's eyes drifted down to Giyuu's lips for a split second before he quickly looked away, his face turning even redder.

"Come on then..."
He opened the door, stepping aside to let Giyuu walk out first.

As he closed the door, his mind was still racing.

What the fuck, Sanemi!? What were you fucking thinking, calling him cute? I had never said anything like that before! Ugh, I'll fucking kill you!!!
He felt his heart beat even faster at his thoughts.

As for Giyuu, his heart was racing as every single second passed by.

The two walked side by side as Sanemi's thoughts occupied his mind completely. He swallowed hard, trying to distract himself by taking in the sights of the road and the sky.

They walked for a while.

It was getting darker now.

Sanemi glanced up at the sky, noticing the change in lighting. The sun had set, leaving behind a beautiful twilight hue.

"We should head back... It's getting late." His voice was slightly softer, his usual gruffness replaced by a more gentle tone.

Giyuu nodded, a look of disappointment in his face at the thought of Sanemi leaving.

Sanemi's heart skipped a beat at the sight of Giyuu's disappointed expression. He quickly looked away, trying to hide his own emotions.

"Uh, you know what...? Let's continue..."
He took a step forward, then stopped and turned to face Giyuu again, his eyes searching his in the dimming light.

"B...But you said it was getting late...?"
Giyuu questioned.

Sanemi opened his mouth to speak, but then closed it again, his thoughts conflicting.

He wanted to stay with Giyuu, leaving him just made him feel bad about himself.

"Y-Yeah... But... I mean... Just for a little bit longer..."
He finally muttered out.

Giyuu couldn't help but smile, his face lighting up with joy.

"Okay!"

Sanemi smiled back, his eyes softening as he saw Giyuu's face light up.
"Alright... Just for a bit longer."

He held out his hand.
"Shall we keep walking then?"
He asked, hoping to prolong the time with Giyuu just a little while longer.

Giyuu nodded, holding Sanemi's hand in a firm grip, as if he never wanted to let go.

Sanemi felt a warmth spread through his chest as Giyuu held his hand. He tightened his grip slightly and began to walk again, letting the silence surround them as they continued their journey along the road.

He looked at Giyuu, his smiling face filling his heart up with warmth and love.

Tomioka... I...I love you, I just can't fucking hide it anymore! Just- Just how will I ever say this to you...?
His gaze slowly shifted to the sky as he got lost in his thoughts.
