scorptra - can hear your soulmate's thoughts

so like. you don't hear your soulmate's thoughts all the time. you just get snippets, sometimes, in this sorta vague distant voice. you can't recognize it, cause that makes it too easy.

scorpia's lucky in a sense, because the thoughts she has kind of all correlate to catra? like enough so that once she gets to know catra she's like "oh yep there she be"

she uh, also hears a LOT about adora. hence the jealousy.

catra ain't so lucky. her thoughts are kinda vague, and don't really tie to anyone? she likes to think that they fit adora, but once the rebellion starts she realizes they don't.

so scorpia's just pining after her soulmate and catra's entirely blind to her soulmate being her soulmate, and it's great.

buuut then when scorpia's carrying catra in white out, catra hears a thought from her soulmate. it's louder than all the thoughts in her head, and it's simply "i love my wildcat." it's not exactly a specific thought, it's just... an emotion.

and then it clicks.

catra isn't okay with it at first. not at all. she's still waaay in denial over adora not being her soulmate.

buuut eventually she grows closer to scorpia and realizes how uwu she is for her, and one thing leads to another and that thing leads to a heartfelt conversation late at night and that conversation leads to a hesitant first kiss that's awkward but also great and they live as evil lesbians from then on

cecilos - name is tattooed on your arm

so cecil is a SUCKER for soulmates. he fantasizes c o n s t a n t l y about the ever-mysterious carlos. so once he hears that there's a scientist in the town now with that name he's like owo? and then he sees him and sees that he's perfect and falls in love instantly and he's like O W O ? ? ? ?

carlos is, uh, the opposite.

soulmates don't make scientific sense! how could your soulmate be biologically tattooed on your skin?? how is one person tied to you?? how do you know you'll fall in love with them?? doesn't make sense at all! i mean, thanks for the heads up that he's into guys and all, but no thanks.

and so when this cecil palmer guy keeps asking about his weekend plans and seeing if he'd ever wanna talk for personal reasons and referring to him as beautiful and perfect on the radio— he knows cecil knows they're soulmates.

and he also knows he's never, ever give him the time of day.

because soulmates aren't scientific and rational, and carlos is all about science and rationalism! so even when cecil becomes somewhat more endearing to him, and he starts to really enjoy the compliments, and he finds himself listening to the night vale community radio station more and more just to hear cecil's voice—

lmao no. nope. never. not scientific. this whole town's not scientific, and cecil is practically the embodiment of all that! he's like, the non-scientific poster boy!

buuut then the whole near death experience happens, and carlos,,,,, rethinks some things.  because at the end of the day,,,, he's clearly in love with his soulmate. and he's realizing that he really, really wants to talk to him for personal reasons about that.

and then the cecilos goes canon like it does in the show and it's all gucc as fuck and they're gay and happy and cecil never shuts about his soulmate. you know all the canon content

mcpriceley - you only see color when you meet your soulmate

so like, meeting your soulmate and seeing color isn't like a like *snap your fingers* boom, color thing. it's gradual. it takes like, an hour, typically? and then you notice that there's color and you're like "wOah real shit"

so like

when mckinley sees kevin for the first time he's like "oh fuck." and then the conversation continues and he can't stop staring and he's like "o h   f u c k." and then when he's about to go to sleep and he moves to take off his best it's pink and he's like "o   h     f    u    c   k"

now is he ever gonna tell kevin that uh, they're soulmates bitch?? haha hell no. not happening. he's gonna repress himself aaaall the way to colorblindness again

now kevin? he doesn't have that same epiphany. he's met like twenty people today man, so once he realizes he has color he's like "goddamn now i gotta figure out which girl this is from"

now, he's gotta figure out who tf his soulmate is. it can't be any of the elders, since they all told him they haven't gotten color yet, and although mckinley kinda turned red (he can see red now!) when he said that, kevin isn't gonna press it. i mean, he's not gay, so it wouldn't be that guy anyway

it also can't be arnold, because although he got his color in today too, it took way longer than would make sense for when they met.

that leaves nabulungi.

it's totally her, right? i mean, shes a girl. they got their colors in at the same time. and like, she's a girl! it totally works out! the future he's set out for himself works out!!

uuuuuuuntil it turns out her and arnold are soulmates.

great.

and kevin has a religious crisis.

great.

and he gets to see the blood all over him in full color.

great.

and, cherry on the cake, mckinley tells him that he's really sorry, but he's pretty sure they're soulmates.

great.

they can't be soulmates! like, no. not happening. kevin's not gay. mckinley's not his soulmate. nope. just because the timeline makes perfect sense and explains some of the hell(ish) dreams he's been having and he kind of hopes it's true doesn't make it true!

...yeah but denial don't last forever sis, eventually he has to admit that, at this point, mckinley is the only person that makes sense.
