______________
A summer morning..
Mumbai..
A lady stepped out of the bathroom towel drying her waist length mahogany colour hair.. As soon as her eyes landed on the bed she let out a small chuckle seeing the scenario..
There her two and half year old husband and her almost three years old son sleeping in exact same pose..
The cuteness of the sight was irresistible, so she threw the towel on the bean bag placed nearby and rushed to the bed..
She ruffled her little boy's hair without disturbing his sleep and kissed his forehead.. Then she looked at her husband and caressed his hair a little.. She was adoring his peaceful baby face which was a rear sight to observe..
"Maybe I can't love you as much as Sanaya did.. But I do love you, Randhir, a lot.." she mumbled slowly which was barely audible and bended a little to kiss his forehead as well..
"Sanyukta..!!
What are you doing..??" before her lips could touch his skin, he opened his eyes..
"Nothing.. Just admiring the amount of peace your sleeping face contains.." Sanyukta muttered slowly and calmly..
"Yeah..!! Whatever.." he said looking everywhere but her..
"It's already 6:30 (am), Randhir.. Come on.. Get ready.. You'll late for the meeting.." saying that she got down from the bed and took out a fresh towel from the closet and handed it to Randhir who was standing beside her by then..
The clock showed 8:00am and Randhir was all set to leave for the office..
He was looking dashing in his businessman attire and had a hearty breakfast prepared by his wife..
"Randhir.." Sanyukta called him before he could walk away from their bedroom after grabbing his important files..
"Hmm.." he chipped turning to her..
"I'm taking Ranveer park today.. And you are coming with us.." she chipped strictly yet calmly..
"Umm.. actually.." he tried to say something but Sanyukta cut him in middle..
"No excuse, Randhir.. You are coming.. End of discussion.."
Randhir sighed.. "OK, fine.. I'll try.." and he walked away..
Sanyukta sighed too with a painful expression.. In back of her head, she knew he wasn't gonna make it today as well..
"Mommy.." a sweet voice hit her eardrums and a smile broke on her lips automatically..
"Hey baby..!! Good morning.." she turned to him with a huge smile on her face..
But in no time the smile faded away noticing his crying face.. She immediately rushed to the bed and picked him in her arms..
"What happened, baby?? Why are you crying..?? Are you hurt?? Hmm?? Tell mommy what's wrong.." Sanyukta asked in panic wiping off the tears from his baby cheeks..
"Am I a bad boy, mommy??" Ranveer asked innocently..
"What..??!! No..!!
Who said that..??
You're not a bad boy.. You're the best boy.. You know nah, you're mommy's little prince.." his this question came as a shock for her but still she tried to make him understand patiently..
"If I'm a good boy then why doesn't daddy love me??" he cried little more..
"Shh..!! Who told you daddy doesn't love you, hu..?? He does, baby.. It's just he doesn't know how to show his love.." Sanyukta hugged him immediately..
"No, mommy, I know.. He doesn't love me.. He never plays with me.. He never takes me to park.. He never buys me toys.." she was tongue tied.. She didn't has any answer for him..
She knew Randhir loves him, he just never showed his feelings.. But she didn't know any method to make a three years old understand that..
She just hugged him more tightly and rubbed his tiny back to provide him some comfort while fighting with her own tears..

"Dad..!!
Where's Sanyukta and Ranveer.." Randhir came running downstairs where his father, Harshvardhan Shekhawat was watching cricket match..
It was almost ten at night when he returned home and he freaked out not seeing or hearing them..
"Sanyukta took Ranveer to our Manali bungalow.." he muttered gluing his eyes to the TV screen..
"She took him there alone?? Dad, why did you let them go??" asked a concerned Randhir..
"Alone??
Well, since the day she got married to you, she is handling Ranveer ALONE only..
She's fulfilling not only a mother's void in your son's life but trying to fill a father's void too..
Anyways, I need to concentrate on the match..
Ask Kamla to set the table for you.. Eat - sleep - crack deals - ignore your family - repeat.." Harsh taunted him..
Randhir felt terrible hearing all those things from his father.. But then, he can't blame him, cause deep down he knew whatever he just said was cent percent true..
Randhir went back to his room and tried to catch some sleep..
But his empty stomach wasn't helping..
He recall how Sanyukta never let him sleep empty stomach.. He was missing her.. He was missing the mischievous mother son duo..
He could sniff the baby smell everywhere.. But the fact that he can't see or hear them was making him miserable..
He closed his eyes and gulped painfully and a lone tear escape from the corner of his eyes..
Next day, afternoon..
Manali..
Sanyukta and Ranveer were having a gala time with each other..
Sanyukta wanted to divert his mind from the thought of his father didn't love him and seemed like she got successful in her mission..
It was post lunch time and her baby boy requested her to play hide & seek before his afternoon nap..
And in no way Sanyukta could deny that cutie pie's request.. Hence they were playing hide & seek..
But then, all of sudden Ranveer came running to Sanyukta even when it was his turn to hide..
She picked him up in her arms still confused.. But her confusion didn't last long as she saw Randhir coming towards them..
"Hey.." Randhir smiled a little at them and then frown seeing Ranveer hid his face in Sanyukta's chest..
"Baby, go to your room.. Mommy will be there soon, OK.." she kissed his cheek and set him on the floor and in no time he ran away from there..
Once he was gone, Sanyukta turned to Randhir.. And before he could even open his mouth she started questioning..
"Why are you here, Randhir..??" her voice was as cold as ice..
"What do you mean by why?? You two were alone here, so I came to stay with you.." he was a bit perplexed by her question..
"Alone?? No, Randhir.. We are not alone.. We have each other.. If anyone of us is alone, then that's you..
You know that, we're happy.. My baby was happy.. But now that you are here, my baby will expect something from you and as always you'll crush his baby heart by your ignorance..
We are better off you.." Sanyukta muttered hatefully before heading towards Ranveer's room without knowing that her each word stabbed his already wounded heart like a venom coated dagger..
Randhir kept mum that whole time.. To be honest, he didn't find something to defend himself.. He stood there for a few minutes fighting with his tears, and then walked towards his room..
Same day, late afternoon..
"Here.." Sanyukta held a steaming mug of coffee before Randhir who was sitting alone on the swing of the balcony..
"Thanks.." he chipped briefly and took the coffee mug from her..
"Can I sit??" she asked tentatively..
"Sure.."
"Umm.. I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have say all those thing.. I was mad at you and God knows what shit spoke... I'm so sorry, Randhir.." she was genuinely guilty..
"Don't be.. Whatever you said was true..
I'm a horrible person.." he signed..
"Hey..!! Don't say like that.."
"It's true, Sanyukta.."
"No, it's not.. Dad told me how nice you used to be before that accident happened.. He also told that this was your and Sanaya's favourite place..
You probably missing are more now.. Isn't it??"
"Well, last night I missed you.." he chipped looking at her and for a brief second their gaze got latched..
"You're right.. Everyone is better off me.. You know, sometimes I think it would have better if I had died with Sanaya.." he sighed painfully..
"What.. Are you crazy, Randhir..?? Dare you utter such nonsense again..
You know I'm sure Sanaya was relieved knowing that you were okay, that her son won't be called an orphan.. And here you're talking about dying.." Sanyukta said furiously..
"Then what should I say, Sanyukta, huu?? When our car got crushed she pushed me out of it.. She should have saved herself first.. She's dead because of me..
Even mom died giving birth to me.. I'm such an inauspicious person.. Everyone around me ends up dead..
Trust me, Sanyukta, I love Ranveer.. He's my baby.. But I'm afraid.. I don't want any badluck for him.." Randhir broke down in front of Sanyukta..
Randhir's confession was a bummer for her.. Not in her wildest dream Sanyukta thought he was going through this much pain..
"Randhir..!! Calm down.. Please don't think so low about yourself.." she wrapped him tightly in her arms and let him wet the fabric covering her shoulder..
"Whatever happened with mom and Sanaya was predestined.. There was nothing you could do about it..
Both your mom and Sanaya choose you over their own life cause they loved you.." she caressed his messy hair and rubbed his back to comfort him..
"We all want to see our loved one alive and happy.. I would have done the same thing as Sanaya if I was at her plac.." Randhir didn't let her complete her sentence and pulled away with a jerk..
"No.. no.. no, Sanyukta.. Please don't say that.. I've already lost Sanaya.. I can afford to lose you now.. Please don't ever leave me.." Randhir begged painfully amidst his tear..
"Randhir, shh..!!
OK..OK.. I'll never leave you.. I promise I won't..
Now stop crying.." She hugged him again and kept comforting him till he calmed down..
"Can I tell you something..??" she asked softly after making sure, he wasn't weeping anymore..
"Hmm.." he hummed snuggling on her chest..
"Sanaya can never be at peace if you keep pushing Ranveer away from you.. I don't think she ever imagined that you would bail on your own son.." Randhir slowly pulled away and kept staring at her blankly after hearing her..
"No.. She's at peace, cause she knows her son has someone who loves him more her.." he looked away..
"My love isn't enough, Randhir.. He needs you too.."
"I'm afraid, Sanyukta.. I'll die if anything ever happens to him because of me.."
"Nothing will happen to him if you stay with him.. You are his father.. We'll always protect him.." she cupped his face and made him match her eyes..
"It's only your absence in his life which can cause some grave damage in his life and mind..
You know he thinks he's a bad boy, that's why you don't love him.."
"What??" he was shocked..
"Yup.. That's true.. He misses you like anything.. Behind his every action there a single motive and that is to impress you.. He cries for you.. And now a days he has started thinking that he's a bad boy.." Sanyukta sighed in disappointment..
"Oh God..!! I never knew what my baby is going through.."
"Listen, Randhir, nothing is too damaged to be fixed till now.. Just go to him and hug him and things will be fine.." she squeezed his hand and gave him a assuring smile..
"I promise I'll make things up to him, Sanyukta..
I won't make him live without a father's love..
Will you help me in making things right?? I know nothing about him.." he requested..
"Always.." Sanyukta smiled..
"It's not only him, I disappointed you too.." Randhir muttered after sitting in silence for sometime..
"I never expected anything from you, Randhir.. So, no, you never disappointed me.." Sanyukta chipped not moving her head from his shoulder..
"I was awake the other day when you said you love me.." she lifted her head and mouthed.. "You are so mean.. You pretended to be asleep when I confessed but opened your eyes when I was about to kiss you.." she pouted and he laughed a little..
"God..!! You are cute.. and bold as well.." he pinched her nose tip..
"But, Sanyukta, you shouldn't take advantage of someone when he is sleeping.." he joked..
"I was going to kiss your forehead only.." she twisted her lips..
"Aww.. OK.. You can do it now.."
"Nope.. I don't have mood to kiss you now.." she looked away..
"Now you are being mean.. You shou.." Randhir stopped hearing the sleepy baby voice of Ranveer..
"Mommy.." Ranveer came to the balcony rubbing his eyes..
"Hey baby.. Come here.." Sanyukta opened her arms and Ranveer ran to the swing.. Before she could bend and pick him up in her arms, Randhir did that for her surprising Ranveer beyond his weeds..
"Hey champ..!! How are you..??" a perplexed Ranveer looked at his mother in confusion as it was the first time his father was being so nice to him..
"Answer your daddy, baby.." she smiled..
"I'm good.." he always obeyed his mommy..
"Baby, I know I never spend time with you, I never was a good daddy to you.. but that doesn't mean I don't love you.. I love you a lot sweetheart, so don't ever think that you are a bad boy.." he kissed his baby cheeks..
"Actually you're a very good boy but I'm a bad daddy.." he sighed..
"Will you give me a chance to be a good daddy for you??" he asked tentatively..
"Will you play with me??" Ranveer asked innocently..
"Yes.." Randhir nodded..
"Will you take me to park..??"
"Of course.."
"Will you come to see my performance in school??"
"I'll never going to miss any from now.."
"Yayyy...!! I love you daddy.." Ranveer squealed in joy and hugged him excitedly..
Sanyukta was watching them silently... She had a satisfactory mild smile playing on her lips..
"Thank you.." Randhir mumbled inaudibly looking at her still hugging his baby boy..
"Welcome.." Sanyukta too mumbled..
"You know I have a lot of toys.. Will you see them and play with them??" Ranveer asked excitedly with gleaming eyes..
"Of course, baby.. Do one thing, go and get your toys.. I'll join you in a minute.." he ruffled his hair and set him on the floor and he ran to get his toys..
"See.. It was that easy.." Sanyukta smiled at him..
"He's very cute.. I missed so much of his life.."
"That's not a problem.. You have a long future with him.."
"And with you as well.. And I'm not gonna miss a single thing about our second baby.." Randhir mouthed tugging a stray hairlock behind her ear..
"I'll make things up to you as well, Sanyukta and try to be a good husband..
And one day I'm sure I'll fall for you hard.." he muttered gazing deep into her eyes..
"Of course you will.. And till then we can be best friends.." she touched his cheeks softly..
"Sure.." he planted a chaste kiss on her forehead..
"Now let's go.. Our baby needs our attention.." Randhir continued and they walked together to their baby boy who's family finally got completed..
