Lunch, lies and lemon slices.
Ignore that patton looks like a murder please.
Patton headed over to the desk, and He read the name tag the man wore: (L. Berry) In neat handwriting.
If he didn't know better, he'd swear it was typed.
L. Berry still hadn't noticed him standing there, obsorbed in whatever was on his screen, so patton coughed and said
"Hey."
The man at the desk slammed his computer shut and looked up. And for the first time, patton got a good look at the mans face. He was pale, with deep blue eyes like an ocean, and sharp features.
He was gorgeous.
"Ah. Patton. Hello."
What— who?
Right. He was patton. What was he doing again?
"Uh. I was just gonna get a sandwich or something at the cafe, and I was wondering if you wanted to come?"
The man put his laptop in his satchel and stood up. He was like a bean pole, tall and thin. He loomed over Patton by almost 10cm I'm australian ok?
"That sounds... adequate."
Patton paused for a moment to see if he had anything else to say.
He didn't, so they headed out of the library in silence.
It wasn't until they reached the cafe (granted it was very close) that Patton spoke
"I-uh somehow don't know your name."
The other man seemed to just realise this and extend his hand
"Logan. Logan Berry."
Patton shook his hand and they sat down.
"So what do you do outside of work, Patton?"
Asked logan as he read the menu
Patton had poured himself a water from the bottle on the table and proceeded to spit it out in a fashion reminiscent of a cartoon.
"Uh, not much, um, what do YOU get up to logan"
Odd.
Thought logan
"Well, I enjoy reading, writing Wikipedia pages, correctly of course, about historical events and figures."
True, technically but he didn't do those things often, he didn't have time.
Patton nodded, seemingly relived; "What kind of things do you read?"
Patton prompted closing the menu
"Well, my favourite novel is the murder of Rodger acroyd, but I also enjoy books on astronomy and other sciences. Do you have preferred reading material?"
The chipper man nodded, going on some tangent about a story with a reincarnated dog.
Logan let the soothing voice crash over him like a wave.
The waiter came for their orders and Logan was disappointed that patton had stopped talking about something he was so excited by.
Logan ordered a ham and cheese croissant and Patton ordered a lemon slice.
After the waiter left, Patton leaned over the table and wispered guiltiy
"It's not very healthy but this places slice is to die for!"
Logan smiled and laughed at the mans enthusiasm for lemon pastries.
Patton almost fell of his chair, Logan was to adorable to handle!
Once the two Awkwardgayex.s had regained the ability to function, there food had arrived.
They chatted about the benefits of early reading on a child's mind (an unusual topic to some, but Patton was studying psychology and Logans... he's Logan ok?)
When a phone vibrated in Pattons bag.
The normally carefree person checked the ID, and suddenly looked absolutely terrified.
Before Logan could express concern however, Patton was standing
"I gotta take this Lo, see ya tomorrow?"
And he was gone.
Logan tried to put together what he knew
1. Patton was very secretive about his identity (he didn't let anyone know his surname or anything deeply personal)
2. He avoided questions about himself unless he had time to think of a response
3. Whoever was on the other end of that call terrified him
So, with that information in mind, what to do?
CHOOSE
follow Patton
(Pros: effective cons: creepy as hell)
Wait till tomorrow and ask
(Pros: maintain trust cons: he's scared for a reason...*dundundah*
Look him up on the agency's database
(Pros: if successful will give him info cons: might have insufficient info to find him on it)
