Virgil x Reader: Trees

Hello! thank you for reading and I really really hope you like it! it was really nice to write some more fluff stuff. I promise I'm still working on the preferences, they are just taking a while to finish... as always please keep comments clean and Patton-friendly

requested by @Snowwywolfie so thank you!

You smiled with glee as soon as Patton brought up the idea. it was apparently a Sanders tradition to go out and look at the decorated trees, walking the park, with the lights reflecting off the dark glossy water. with the soft scent of hot chocolate from a small café nestled right in the middle of everything. it sounded absolutely magical.

it seemed like a pretty big deal to the Sanders as Logan started rattling off world records for the most lights at once, and while Roman was working on some gold and red make up for the occasion.

Patton was working out the details with Logan as you walked into the living room, where Roman was, Janus also standing there, a small crystal embrodered ribbon around his hat, Remus with a very sharp icicle covered in... red... you scanned around for the missing one, the one to hold your affections, your crush: Virgil.

you never thought he'd be your type, but one look with that smirk and you were done for. his jokes, the little way he wrinkles his nose when he laughs, the way he tries to cover the light freckles dusting his nose, everything about him made your heart soar.

you were so busy daydreaming you didn't noticed he'd made his way downstairs, with nothing more than an extra scaft for the occasion. he was arguing with Roman about "not being dressed up enough for this glorious occasion."

you just giggled at the two of them arguing, and Virgil's eyes quickly flickered over to you, making a huge blush appear on your cheeks as Janus snickered, and you "playfully" punched his arm.

Patton skipped in, holding Logan's hand tightly. Patton had a huge smile as he announced Logan agreed eating out after this outing. Roman and Remus cheered while Virgil rolled his eyes and Janus just sighed, standing up.

Patton was in charge of seating arrangements and started off, he and Logan would be in the front, then Roman Remus and Janus in the middle, (Janus in-between the two chaotic monkeys of course), then you and Virgil in the back. Patton totally ships you and knows about your crush on his "child"

Virgil sighed, hating being put in the back and grumbling as he crawled back there. you crawled in after him, basically buzzing with excitement. and the rest of them piled in, Patton starting up some music

you turned to Virgil, your face pink because of being so close by him, and just the overall excitement of it all. taking a deep breath you decided to speak.

"its really exciting, going the park?" you said, glancing at your beloved Emo... but he merely shrugged.

"we do it year after year, it get boring, and its not even that special either, so naw... not really excited." Virgil said, half interested as he plugged his earbuds into his phone and listened to some music. your heart dropped, the excitement and smile draining from your face, as a knot formed in your stomach... of course he wouldn't be excited, its stupid. you were stupid...

you stared out the window battling tears, and the lump in your throat... why couldn't you keep your mouth closed, you just had to speak and embarrass yourself in front of the only person that mattered. embarrassment burned at your cheeks but you just kept your eyes glued at the lake far in the distance, soft lights reflecting off of it.

Virgil noticed the light beside him dimming, the way your smile faded, the way your eyes filled with embarrassment, the soft way you tensed. even if he didn't say anything he sure noticed. he bit his lip nervously, something must have caused your sudden change in mood.

Virgil scanned your face for the rest of the trip, not quite putting the pieces together. he glanced as the car started pulling into the parking lot, a quiet argument between all three of the sides ahead of you.

as Janus practically yeeted himself out of the car as soon as it stopped. and how Remus and Roman were right behind him. Patton skipped out while Logan walked over, watching his step for ice.

You felt fingers brush your arm snapping you out of your trance, you turned, realizing the car wasn't moving, or how the rows ahead were empty. you glanced at who touched you to find Virgil, who was scanning your glossy eyes.

"we are here." he spoke softly. you nodded, a little too quickly,  he hopped out waiting for you to jump out. you jumped out, not noticing the patch of ice you stepped on until you slipped. you saw the ground rushing towards your face until strong hands grabbed your shoulders, and lightly lifted you back to your feet.

you turned to see Virgil holding you. he realized and immediately let go of you, and started walking towards the trees, you following. you had to admit, they were gorgeous. the trees lighting up like icicles, the dark lake catching the shimmer and bringing it as far as the eye could see.

you finally made it to the group, Virgil right behind you. Patton decided to go with Logan on a long walk around the lit woods, you were about to speak up when you felt someone's hand tighten around your own.

"y/n and I will be headed off as well." Virgil said quickly, taking a step forward and lightly pulling you forward. you saw Roman snicker making kissing noises as Virgil's face blew up in a blush.

"I will smite you, prince-y" Virgil threatened under his breath before pulling you down one of the many winding paths, covered with illuminated trees. soon enough he let go of your hand, and just admired your face, the awe as you took in the sights around you, it gave Virgil a very long chance to admire your features up close. the way your eyes danced between everything, or how the corner of your mouth lifted at the cute little attention to detail.

Virgil didn't want to admit it but the entire sight made his heart swell... you. made his heart swell. it didn't take him long however to notice your soft shivering, or your tired yet still awe-filled eyes.

"Here, you look cold..." Virgil said, shrugging off his hoodie and handing it to you. at first your refused but Virgil just draped it over your shoulders refusing to take it back, so you tucked your arms through with a small smile. he smiled back.

after a few more minutes of walking, Virgil stopped, grabbing your hand to stop you too. he looked around and quickly started walking into some of the brush, still strung with lights. while you kept yourself from questioning. he finally led you to a secluded yet gorgeous park bench.

it was strung up with lights, while little flowers were woven in, giving it an even more magical appearance. Virgil again took your hand and walked down there with you, as the bench faced the breath-taking shimmering lake.

you both just sat in silence for a while, meanwhile you debated something in your head, and Virgil was also debating in his head. you both, as if linked, decided to go for it at the exact same time. Virgil reached his arm around your shoulders, pulling you close, while you rested your head on his shoulder, snuggling in a bit.

you both sat in a euphoric silence, staring at the lake, taking it all in, so happy you were together. Virgil then took a chance, as he reached down, grabbing your chin very softly and lifting your head to face him.

he glanced down at your lips then back at your eyes, as if asking if it was okay. you held your breath unintentionally as you brought your hand up to cup his cheek, both of you leaning in and your lips together in a gentle kiss. it was magical

Bonus scene:

Janus rolled his eyes as you and Virgil walked back to the car, twenty minutes late, and he was hungry. you were nuzzled up to Virgil, in his hoodie, while Virgil held an uncharacteristic smile.

"how did you know?" Janus asked, handing Patton 20 dollars for the bet.

"gut feeling" Patton shrugged, before handing you and Virgil a hot chocolate from the café and heading off. Patton smiled as he saw Virgil give the cup to you, but you kept insisting he take sips.

you all drove to McDonalds and grabbed dinner, Virgil paying for yours, which didn't go unnoticed by Roman, who kept asking... well more begging, to know if you two had kissed or not. but you just laughed, snuggling up to Virgil. it truly was a magical night.
