Blankets and planned out dates - Demus
[3RD PERSON]
Remus had a green blanket. It was super soft and super fluffy. No matter how cold the room was this blanket would immediately make you warm. He loved this blanket. But someone who loved it even more was his boyfriend, Janus.
Janus stole his blanket as much as he could. Remus would never be able to steal it back just because of Janus' pure determination to have it. The thing about the blanket was that they were rare. It may have been an amazing blanket but the company selling them went bankrupt and they were no longer made, so Janus couldn't buy his own. He decided if he couldn't own one, he would fight for one.
It almost became a war. Janus would always get home first so he'd hide with the blanket and a nerf gun. If he was shot with a bullet first, he'd lose and give up the blanket. If Remus was shot with a bullet first, Janus would get a hot drink and custody of the blanket for the rest of the day.
'Jaaaaanus! Come out come out wherever you are~' Remus sang, tip-toeing through the house, looking for his snake-like counterpart. Suddenly he felt a bullet right on the back of his head.
'HAHA!' Janus yelled, jumped off the fridge. 'You didn't even see- where's your gun?' He looked at Remus' empty hands and tilted his head to the side.
'I decided to forfeit this round.' Remus smirked evilly.
'Damn it! That was such a good spot too!' Janus pouted and grumbled.
'Well, it'll all be worth it in a minute, come with me.' Remus held his hand out to Janus. He took it and Remus led him out to the car.
The two climbed in and Remus set off.
'Where we going?'
'Surprise.'
'Where?'
'Can't tell ya'.'
'How long?'
'Depends on if I get caught speeding.'
'Where?'
'Can't tell ya'.'
'What we doing there?'
'Can't tell ya' that either.'
'I should've bought my nerf gun to shoot you with.' Janus grumbled.
Janus asked many questions as the drive continued but Remus always deflected them with a vague answer or an "I can't tell ya'". Janus found this incredibly annoying.
After around a half hour of yelling, questions and awful music through the aux accompanied by equally awful dancing, Janus fell asleep. Remus smiled fondly at his boyfriend who was very very much less bitter and snarky when he was sleeping. He looked so innocent and perfect but if you woke him, you'd be followed by god's wrath and infinite curse words.
Remus drove in near silence, his music low to keep Janus from waking. He hummed lightly as trees and other cars passed.
Eventually he arrived exactly where he wanted to be.
In Front of the car was a small white-painted building. It only had a tiny hallway leading to one main room, painted a satisfying shade of cream and a small kitchenette separated by a countertop. The kitchen had a small fridge and microwave, not that Remus needed either things, not could he use them if he tried. The electricity bill hasn't been paid in what Remus guessed was years, decades even. He had found the place some months back while on a hike, all by himself due to Janus being away on some business trip with some emo (who then turned out to become Remus' brother-in-law, but that's a different story). He hadn't told anyone about it and almost forgot until a couple days ago when he was planning something for Janus. He had set off earlier for work to set small things up at the building making sure everything was ready for today.
He turned off the car and slowly got out, trying to close the door as quietly as it was possible to. He walked inside and turned on the small fairy lights and other things he would need when he woke up Janus.
He walked back out and opened the car boot, suddenly very very glad Janus was a deep sleeper or else he wouldn't get away with this. He didn't close the boot just yet and he walked inside with his arms full of snacks. He placed the snacks into bowls he left here a day or two prior, setting them down in the main room. His second and third trip he carried old duvets and pillows into the main room. His fourth trip, he carried movies out into the main room, placing them on the shelf next to a projector he left there. His fifth trip was a small cooler filled with drinks like cola and bottles of water and Janus' favourite, mango flavour juice boxes.
When Remus was done, he slammed the boot closed, hoping it was enough to wake his sleeping beauty. Turns out, it wasn't. Remus climbed back into the driver's side of the car and slipped in, shaking awake his boyfriend.
'Huh- what? I'm up! Remus?' Janus sat up and groggily rubbed his eyes before suddenly becoming aware the car had stopped moving. He looked outside the windshield. 'Remus, where the fuck are we? Was dating me for four years all a lie? Are we in the matrix? BLUE PILL! BLUE PILL!'
'Shhh! Janus, shut up a sec.' Janus pouted as Remus giggled lightly. 'What's the date?' Remus asked.
'March 3rd, why?'
'Do you know why that date is important?'
'It's been twelve years since we met.' He smiled fondly at the nostalgic memories.
'Yep! Twelve wonderful years of friendship and four whole years of love! So to celebrate I brought you here! Come inside.' Remus nodded towards the building.
The two walked inside, Janus gasping with delight as he saw the room decorated and planned perfectly.
'Re- I- oh my god.' He smiled, turning to his boyfriend.
'This isn't the best bit!' Remus ran over to the counter top, picking up a small parcel. 'Open it! Open it!' Remus giggled.
Janus tore off cheap wrapping paper to reveal a soft yellow blanket, edged with black to match Remus'.
'Remus! This must've been expensive! And how'd you get one?' Janus asked, already wrapping it around himself.
'That doesn't matter honey. Do you like it?' Janus hummed as he slowly became more blanket than man.
'Love it,' Was all Remus could make out from Janus' muffled words.
'Well....that isn't the best bit either.....' Remus whispered.
'What? This is great! I love you Re! You didn't have to do any of this! What could possibly be better than- no, Remus, you're joking........' Janus spoke as he slowly came out of the blanket from where he was standing. He found his boyfriend on one knee and a small ring in his hand.
'I, uh...I'm not great with words, or being romantic, or our nerf wars....but I love you! Like, a lot too! And uh.....I kinda realized I wanna spend the rest of my life calling you mine...........so Janus, do ya wanna.......marry me?' Remus eventually asked.
Janus smiled and chuckled fondly as tears pooled in the corners of his eyes. 'How'd you manage to hide this from me?' He asked.
'I dunno! A lot of self-control I didn't know I had!' He grinned. 'So.....?'
'I'll definitely marry you Remus.' He smiled, tears spilling over his cheeks. Remus stood up slipping a ring onto his finger and pulling him in for a short but sweet kiss.
'I love you Re.'
'I love you too, Jan.'
The rest of the evening was spent watching dumb movies and eating junk food, cuddled up under each other's blankets. Both of them thought, knew that it was perfect.
