Dialogue who? Dont remember her
Prompt 1: red thread of fate
--
Roman had been dreaming of meeting his soulmate for forever, ever since the red thread had appeared around his finger and stayed there as a constant reminder that somewhere out there at the other end was a person that was perfect for him, just waiting to spend the rest of his life with him, in whichever way fitted them both best.
When he was ten and had just gotten his soulmate thread he had rushed out to follow it immediately, determined to find his soulmate whatever it would take. He had followed it for hours, accompanied by his older brother who was forced by their parents to make sure Roman wouldn't get lost or get kidnapped while out on his adventure.
Roman hadn't found his soulmate. Despite the many times they had moved (each time Roman feeling as if something cold had a grip around his heart because what if, what if, he was just moving further and further from his soulmate) and despite the many long, long walks Roman had set out on to see if it seemed like he ever got anywhere closer to finding his soulmate, he was always left disappointed.
His brother, Remus, had found his soulmate when Roman was in his last year of college which Roman found utterly and entirely unfair and homophobic of the entire world that he found his soulmate first, no matter if Remus was seven years older than him or not!
Remus hadn't even been excited enough about having a soulmate, he'd been nonchalant and always just waiting to stumble upon him, which he had, stumbled upon him, that is.
Roman had been there, they'd just been getting out of the movie theatre after watching this really awfully made horror movie (it had been hilarious) and Remus had been looking at him and retelling his favorite death of the movie and why it should have been more gore-y when they had rounded a corner and Remus immediately had fallen over a guy crouched down to tie his shoe.
Turned out the guy Remus had fallen over was his soulmate, that lucky bastard. His name was Virgil and at first he was really quiet and shy and edgy and Roman didn't get along with him very well. He only wanted the best for his brother, and he wasn't sure if Virgil was it.
He and Virgil had come to understand each other a lot better since then and it didn't take too long after they realized their mutual love for Disney and Remus that they bonded and soon considered each other best friends. Roman couldn't imagine his life without Virgil.
It took an agonizingly long time until Roman found his soulmate, he never really fell for other people than his soulmate, too busy dreaming of who this person who was fated for him was, what he (it must be a he, right? If there was anything Roman was sure of it was that he was gay) was like as a person, what their relationship would be like.
Of course Roman couldn't know before meeting him if they were fated to be romantic soulmates or not, but as the hopeless romantic that Roman was he couldn't help hoping for someone who would be glad to receive all the love he had to give. The idea of a romantic relationship with his soulmate just filled him with so much joy and he spent endless hours imagining what it would be like to meet them.
In the end it hadn't really happened in a way he had imagined (granted, Roman had been getting pretty carried away with romantic scenarios in his daydreams), it had just been a day like any other and Roman had been out walking and wistfully looking into the distance where his thread stretched towards.
Then he had been distracted a bit later by the smell of coffee and had found a cute little coffee shop where he decided to stay for a drink, and after paying he had turned around and realized that his red thread was not stretched out far away but leading straight to a man sitting in the corner with a thicker book than Roman had ever held. And the thread from Roman was tied around one of the man's fingers.
He'd rushed over there barely remembering how to speak, just excitedly showing off his hand and the short bit of red thread that connected them together. The stranger had pushed his glasses up and looked between them as if he wasn't quite sure what he was really seeing, then he had smiled just a tiny, tiny bit and Roman had been immediately convinced that there was no prettier smile to see in the entire world.
And that was how he met Logan.
It was a bit rocky in the beginning, Logan was, well, they were not terribly alike. He wasn't as excited as Roman about the entire soulmate thing, he was incredibly smart and sometimes a little too serious (who wears a tie every day?), and he was pretty hesitant to take any step in their relationship at first, claiming not to be good with emotions and claiming that he likely wouldn't be a very good soulmate.
(Bullshit, if you asked Roman)
Roman of course had to accept and respect their differences, they didn't matter much to him, there was probably nothing that could have stopped him for falling hard for Logan within two months. Absolutely smitten, if you will.
To Roman's absolute delight and relief Logan admitted not too long after that that he couldn't help but to want to attempt a relationship and they had both been so very nervous on their first date, but they still looked back fondly at that evening, just the two of them sharing a blanket, hot chocolate, and some hesitant and gentle kisses under the stars.
There had been plenty of stargaze dates since then, and plenty of other dates and lazy evenings and mornings spent together at each other apartments before they moved in together, many, many moments for Roman to hold Logan's hand and know without a doubt that they belonged together, no matter any differences or any struggles they might have.
And now Roman looked to the side where Logan was curled up against him, sleepily sipping his favorite tea as they watched a Disney movie together. Roman lifted up their entwined hands to press a kiss to the brand new ring adorning Logan's left ring finger, just above where the red string was tied. It had his soulmate (his fiancé!) smiling so very softly and pressing his face into Roman's shoulder.
He had always been terribly eager to meet his soulmate, constantly trying to find the end of his red thread, but any wait had been worth this, to have Logan in his arms and know for sure that they had the rest of their lives together.
