"Who are you?"

"I...I'm Logan."

"What am I doing? Where am I? How did I get here?"

"You don't remember? You had a pretty bad fall, my boyfriends and I took you to our place and we patched you up."

"Oh-uh-thanks, I guess." The conversation kept running through Logan's head, Anxiety had forgotten everything after he became a villain. He had yet to tell them his name, he barely even talked to them. Anxiety, since his awakening just a few hours ago, seems to trust Patton more than Logan and tends to stay away from Roman.

"Mr. Logan?" Logan snapped back to attention as he heard one of his students call his name.

"Yes, Talyn?" Talyn was one of Logan's students, they were really sweet.

"Are you alright? You've trailed off from your lesson and have been standing there for five minutes." Logan gave his worried looking student a confused look.

"Had I? My apologies." Logan had then continued his lesson to his high school chemistry class.

————————————————————

Patton had taken the day off from work, which was at a daycare, to take care of Anxiety.

"Logan told me you don't really remember anything from the past thirteen months," Anxiety nodded, confirming this, "what do you remember?"

"Well, I know my name, I remember I quit Starbucks after I was finished with college for a year but I don't remember why, and that's it." That wasn't true, Anxiety remembers a few more names, but he wasn't even sure if they were names or not. What sort of name is Deceit? A face flashed through his mind; snake scales on one side of a man's face, a glowing yellow snake eye, a devious smirk. Anxiety tried to hold onto the image, but it slipped out of his mind and he didn't know what he was trying to remember.

"Can you tell me your name?" Patton lightly smiled encouragingly at Anxiety, who was very uncertain.

"I-uh-it's Virgil." Anxiety blurted out, feeling a weight lifted off his chest. Patton beamed, he was so happy Virgil trusted him even though it's only been three hours.

"I'm Patton. Are you hungry?" He asked, his conversation about Virgil with Logan in mind. Logan had said how Virgil had felt very light when he was carrying the villain and estimated that Virgil was underweight.

"I-uhm, I'm good." Virgil said, not looking Patton in the eyes. He's been very nervous, trusting or not, Virgil wouldn't look anyone in the eyes. For some reason Virgil couldn't remember, he had an instinct that told him he had to earn his food. Could it help Virgil remember if he doesn't eat? Virgil didn't feel hungry, so it wouldn't hurt to try. Patton looked at Virgil, unsure weather to make Virgil food and perhaps make him more nervous because he says he's not hungry and Patton was going to force him to eat, or, Patton can respect Virgil's wishes of not eating even though Logan said that he was underweight.

"Just..just let me know when you get hungry." Patton's voice faltered before he decided it was best not to force Virgil to eat, then he asked if Virgil needed anything. Virgil shook his head and Patton went into the kitchen to make himself some food, repeating: "Breakfast, the most important meal of the day, servin' it up Patton's way."

————————————————————

After a week Virgil had come to relax around Logan and Patton, but Roman was a different story. Roman would always have an aggressive and stiff posture whenever he's in a room with Virgil, not trusting him whatsoever. Virgil was always anxious at this, but there was a sense of familiarity about it that made Virgil want to be around Roman more in hopes of triggering a memory.

Right now, Virgil was sitting on the arm of the couch, curled up and comfy, as the four of them were watching a Disney movie that had just come out.

"Awww, I was hoping the mice would talk!" Patton pouted. Yes, they were watching the live action Cinderella, and  yes, Patton was disappointed that the mice didn't talk. Roman pulled Patton into his side and buried his face in Patton's neck, making Patton squeal and giggle. Sometimes Virgil wished for something like that.

"You're adorable!" Virgil heard Roman coo to Patton, and he had to agree. The dad-like man was adorable. Virgil's head started to hurt, but he tried focusing on the move until a memory had taken over his focus.

Virgil was sick. He was lying in his bed that resides in his dark room with a fever and runny nose. Virgil looked up from his phone, where he was browsing Tumblr, and watched as someone entered his room. The man had a weird mustache, the kind you'd see on cartoon villains, and he was dressed like a prince. His clothes were black though with an outline of green and had a green sash, like a messed up, dark prince.

"Greetings, Anxiety. Hey, have you ever thought about what would happen if the soup Deceit made, and I'm about to give you, went up your butthole?" Virgil sighed, he didn't need this. He didn't want to think about it, but that's what happened. It's almost like Duke comes up with these thoughts on the spot, which he does, and then shares them because he has no filter. That's why they keep him here, because he could possibly leak information to the annoying heroes.

"Of course, out of everyone Deceit would send, it had to be you." Virgil croaked, his throat sore, and then started coughing.

"Why I'm hurt, truly. I do nothing but give you generous ideas about how to fight the heroes." Duke feigned the emotional pain at Virgil's words.

"Yeah," Virgil breathed a laugh that nearly sent him into another coughing fit, but he held it back, "'ideas' is putting it lightly." Of course, this is the worst time to sneeze. Well, for Virgil it is. He's been told by many that his sneeze is adorably like a kitten's, and Duke is one of the last people Virgil wants to be around when that happens. He let out a sound that was a mixture of a noise similar to that jumping sound in Super Mario and a kitten. Duke is always unpredictable, so Virgil couldn't tell what he was thinking or going to do, that's what always triggers Virgil's anxiety and causes it to go up.

"You're adorable!" Duke squealed. "You sneeze like a kitten that got stuck in a Super Mario game and then died because of the Goombas! Imagine that! A kitten being killed by life sized Goombas! Hahahaha!" Duke cackled, then proceeded to take out a stick of deodorant and eat it while he watched Virgil slowly slurp at his soup.

Duke. That name and face. It was so familiar to Virgil, yet, unlike most people who would be ecstatic at a memory resurfacing, it made Virgil uneasy.

"What's your goal?" Virgil jumped when he heard the voice, pulled from his thoughts, Virgil looked at his surroundings to find that the movie had ended and Patton and Logan were asleep and cuddled up against a wide-awake Roman.

"What do you mean?" Virgil questioned, this was really the first time Roman openly addressed him.

"What information are you planning to get out of us? When will you disappear and run to your villain friends and rat us out?" What was he talking about? What information?

"What information? What 'villain friends'? I can't really remember anything, so you guys are my only friends that I know of. Unless I somehow managed to befriend someone in the time I forgot." Virgil sarcastically drawled.

"Oh, you've made a few interesting friends, I can assure you, and not the best ones." Roman scoffs. 'Not the best ones', what does he mean by that? Did Virgil join a gang? Oh no! What if he did something he wasn't supposed to and they come after him? What if he's going to get them all killed? Virgil's anxious thoughts were interrupted when Roman spoke again.

"How's my brother, by the way? Is he good?" Virgil was getting anxious and fed up with Roman's questions.

"Like I've said before, I. Don't. Know." Virgil firmly stated through clenched teeth. Virgil decided that the conversation was over and turned his back to Roman and tried to fall asleep, it's kind of hard to do that when you're uptight and angry, also the arm of the couch is kind of hard to sleep on. Virgil jumped when arms wrapped around his waist and he was pulled down onto the couch cushion, tensing up as Patton cuddled him. Virgil knows it's Patton because Patton's the one closest to him and Roman would never do that, Virgil learned to relax and fell asleep.

———————————————————

Patton had grown worried. He and the others, including Virgil, had fallen asleep on the couch and now said man won't wake up. Patton tried healing him but Virgil needed food in his body, not Patton's magic. In his panic he awoke Logan and Roman and they both were on it, Logan helped Patton make some light foods that Virgil won't have trouble eating while Roman watched over Virgil.

"I know I've been horrible to you. I'm sorry. I was afraid you'd hurt my family, but I've just seen you continuously act confused. You don't deserve this, you weren't meant to become a villain." Roman told Virgil, feeling guilt gnawing at him. It was a few more minutes before Roman noticed Virgil's eyes slightly cracked open, Roman was sent into another panic and he yelled for Logan and Patton to come, notifying them that Virgil was awake. For two days Virgil was couch-ridden, but he's been eating better in that time, and Roman's trying to get along with him, making things easier for everyone.

————————————————————

Deceit paced around their living room, growing more and more restless. Virgil had been taken from them, those stupid heroes were changing him. Nobody messes with their family.

"Oh Deceit, I've got something that'll cheer you up!" Deceit heard Remus cackle from his lab, he sighed, feeling some relief at having something to focus on.

"It will take some time to get, but I've done my research and located the proper people. It will take some time, but we will be able to have what we need-"

"Spit it out Remus, you know how I love to be kept waiting." Deceit snapped and cut Remus off.

"Of course my slithery friend," Remus's voice oozed with mockery, "it's known as the absorbere glass. What it does is it takes a person's power, or what makes them strong/unbeatable. So, once we contact those certain people, that glass piece will be ours and those foolish heroes won't stand a chance. Once their powers are gone, we could just oust them over the edge." Remus cackled and began saying other demented things about ways to kill the powerless heroes while munching on his deodorant, but Deceit was focused on getting the glass.

————————————————————

Four more days had gone by with more confusing memories resurfacing. Virgil didn't want to tell the others because he was worried it would change something between Virgil and the three of them, but he and Roman were getting along better after the "nearly dying because Virgil was starving himself" incident, and courtesy of Patton having to return to work while Roman had no work.

He was falling. Virgil must have tripped over the edge or something because he was never that clumsy, but he was rapidly descending towards the ground. He looked up at the three horrid faces that watched him fall, all helpless and unable to move because of Sleep. Virgil felt his stomach drop and a scream was stuck in his throat, unable to come out. Virgil couldn't see Deceit. He wanted someone to help him, save him. Virgil wished he never contacted Deceit. He wished that he hadn't gone into the machine Duke built, he wished he never had these powers, but, most of all, Virgil wished he never became a villain. Virgil's heart sped up as he knew the ground was nearing, it wasn't a tall building, only seven stories. Virgil had felt a sudden shock when he hit the ground, then the pain came. It blinded him, Virgil felt like his whole body was on fire, then he blacked.

Virgil shot up in a cold sweat, shaking. He looked around to find he was alone. In the dark. Everything came back to him, all at once. It was too much. Virgil's breathing hitched as he curled in on himself, remembering every bad thing he's ever done. Virgil struggled to breathe as his breaths turned shallow, tears formed in his eyes and started falling. Virgil knew crying wasn't going to do any good if he was having a panic attack, but he couldn't stop the tears. He started to feel lightheaded and he knew he wasn't getting enough oxygen in. The voices whispered to him, telling him he's a monster, that it was his own doing and not Deceit or Duke. There was no one around to help him, he was alone.

Virgil has, now that he thinks about it, noticed that they are out on some nights, but would always come back before midnight with a few cuts and bruises. The thought of the three men Virgil had gotten to know distracted him from his current situation, but not for long. As Virgil was sitting on the couch in the peaceful silence, he was startled as someone was literally thrown through the living room window. He rushed to the person's side to find it was one of the heroes, Logic, but he had his mask off and Virgil was horrified to find it was Logan.

Logan was beaten pretty badly; his costume was torn at the side where Virgil could see a large gash, he had a black eye and busted lip, and he was covered in dirt. Virgil moved Logan to the couch just in time because Roman, surrounding Patton, had also crashed through the already shattered window and they both seemed to be very weak. Virgil cowered away as he saw Deceit and Remy climb through after the heroes. Deceit caught sight of Virgil and smirked.

"I was wondering when I'd be seeing you again."

2532 words
Wow! Over two thousand words! Yes, I left it on another cliffhanger. You're welcome. I really hope you liked this, I've rewritten it a few times before I decided it was good to publish. I'll start working on the third part Monday because I'm pretty sure we have some family friends coming this weekend.

Love you all~
