*cough* I'm 16 as of today *cough* Art is not mine! Enjoy all the fluff~

Remus and Janus have been husbands for five years. Five years. Nothing will ever really break them apart if they've been together for that long and are still going, Janus loves Remus too much to leave him and Remus will never mess up because Janus is the only person to love him romantically. Neither will leave. That was just a little background and now we're at the present.

The two husbands have spent the entire night tossing and turning, but neither could get any sleep. At four in the morning they gave up on sleeping, so they shuffled down to the kitchen together to eat some breakfast. They had a really nice house, it was pretty normal sized, and it had two floors, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a dining room, and an office.

Remus is the stay at home husband, occasionally he'll stop by the hospital and do a random surgery, then bounce before anyone realizes he wasn't the actual surgeon (he was in medical school, but didn't do anything with his degree, he just decided to put his practice to good use) but really he cleans, does the dishes if there are any, takes care of their snake, and does the groceries when they need to be done. Janus is the one that works; he's one of the best lawyers out there, he defends the accuser and the innocent, he can tell when people are guilty and has a way of using his words to convince the court. He has a case today, actually.

"Can I harvest his organs if he's guilty? Skin him alive and make his eyeballs pop out of his head?! Maybe I can melt his brain with electricity! Oooh, now that would be fun!" Remus seemed more awake the more he talked, he made himself and Janus coffee as his husband just sat at the table, still tired from a sleepless night.

"The court would like that, and I wouldn't have to do a case against you." Janus says, his voice is deeper in the mornings but still smooth and dripping with sarcasm. Janus' case today was defending a mother and daughter against the accused, which was the husband, who's on multiple charges including abuse. Remus sat down next to Janus and placed their coffees on the table, Janus mumbled a thanks and gave Remus a short kiss before drinking his coffee. Janus finished his morning zoomy bean juice first and started making breakfast, scrambled eggs will do for today. Janus is the one that cooks because Remus is an absolute disaster cook, Remus does help Janus when he's cooking, but Janus will never leave him alone in the kitchen again. Once the eggs were done Janus plated them and ate with Remus, then he had to go to work.

————————————————————

Janus was finally home, his stiff shoulders sagged in relief, but the pressure he has been feeling since the middle of the day did not go away. Getting in he might've accidentally slammed the door shut a bit too hard, but he didn't really care, he just wanted Remus right now. As if he could smell his husband's misery, Remus bounded down the hall and pulled Janus into a tender kiss, then broke the kiss to breathe, but didn't pull his hands away from Janus' shoulders.

"Tough day?" He asked with a pout, deeply hating when Janus is stressed out like this. Janus let out a long sigh before speaking, taking his shoes and jacket off.

"They did say the court can't be biased, yet I totally didn't over hear many of the men in the court saying the mother was overreacting, and that they were just being disciplined because they obviously have done something wrong. But I will persuade them eventually. For now the mother and daughter are safe in their house, and the father is told to stay away from the both of them while the case is still going." Janus ranted, sitting on the couch. Remus, who was listening to Janus, straddled his husband on the couch and got so close he could feel Janus' breath on his lips.

"Would a kiss make you feel better?" Remus asked, wanting to know if Janus was finished ranting or not. It's always good to get consent, the ones who would cut you off with a kiss in the middle of your rant are just doing it to shut you up, that's not a good relationship.

"Please." Janus breathes out, he didn't have to tell Remus twice. Their kiss turned heated within three seconds, Janus squeezes Remus' upper thighs which got a moan from Remus and caused him to grind their hips together. The trashy man, knowing that he should be the one relaxing Janus, broke their kiss and started trailing feather light ones down Janus' darker toned - once burnt - jawline and neck, still grinding his hips against his husband's. Janus' breath hitches as he feels Remus's soft lips on his neck (even for a trash gremlin Remus makes sure his skin and lips are perfect), that was his soft spot. He became a moaning mess under his aesthetically green husband when Remus started to suck and lick his neck, leaving hickeys on the old and long since healed wound, but stopped Remus from taking off his shirt.

"Eager, are we?" Janus lightly teases, "this can wait till later tonight, I'm going to make us dinner because I bet you aren't just as hungry as I am." Janus says, giving one last kiss to end their session, then put Remus on the cushion next to him and got up to make dinner, ignoring that Remus said they could fill each other up nicely (I'm sorry!!). Remus sat on the couch and swung his legs out a little and then back, but the hyperactive man got bored very quickly. He'll go and see what Janus is up to, he requires more attention and affection from the lawyer. Remus wrapped his arms around Janus' waist, the other husband didn't even flinch, just lifted a brow and let an amused smirk grace his facial features.

"Bored already? It hasn't even been five minutes." Remus just whines at Janus' statement and demanded more kisses.

"Darling, if I give you more kisses I'll never finish cooking, and the pasta will boil over." Janus reasons, but he gave Remus a few small pecks anyway.

————————————————————

They had eaten dinner and Remus went out and grabbed two soft serve cones for the both of them, now they were on the couch, Remus once again straddling Janus, and were ready to continue what they started. Remus' lips were so close to Janus', they hovered just above his, but their meeting was interrupted by the doorbell ringing.

"Should we get it?" Remus asked, Janus peered around him to look at the clock; it read 10:52.

"It isn't late at all. Who could it be at this hour?" Janus asked, Remus knew it was rhetorical, but he shrugged to the question anyway. Remus got up first and bounded towards the door, Janus close behind him. Looking out, they saw no one, just as they were about to close the door some movement on the doorstep caught Remus' eye. Remus stopped Janus from closing the door and gestured down when his husband gave him a confused look, Janus' face paled as they looked at a baby swaddled in a pastel yellow blanket that was lying in a carrier.

————————————————————

Neither slept that night again, when morning came Janus and Remus were still sitting on the couch, staring at the still sleeping baby. They had obviously brought the baby in, it would be heartless to leave them out there in the cold.

"What'll we do with them? We can't raise a kid. I'm too mentally unstable and neither of us are parent material." Remus says, trying to think of what to do with this baby. They can't take them in, they don't know the first thing about taking care of a baby. How will they know why they're crying? Are they financially stable enough? Remus is too graphically violent for the kid and way too unpredictable and Janus is too scared about the entire journey of raising a kid with no guidance, not to mention he can be quite cold towards others.

"We can go to your brother and Virgil?" Janus suggested, Remus shook his head.

"No, they've got their hands full with two cats, twin teens, and Roman's big show is coming up." Remus listed, Janus exhaled and tried to think of another option. A little background on Remus' brother would be nice, right? Well, Roman and Virgil have been married for several years, they met in junior year and didn't get together till the end of senior year. They did long distance dating throughout college, went on more than a few dates, and Roman proposed to Virgil a few months after the both of them finished college. They first got two cats a year after moving in with each other and getting married, then, after four years of worry and procrastination, they adopted twins, who were twelve at the time, and they've stayed a happy content family for the next three years.

"Patton would be willing to take them in, right? Patton does love children." Janus suggested, thinking that his childhood friend might be up to the task. Now time for a little background on Patton, right? Of course. Patton has been married to Logan for three years, it took Logan forever to get the courage to propose, and have adopted a dog a year after getting married and a ten year old later on when they were financially stable enough. Patton was Janus' friend since kindergarten, their families were really close, and when the fire happened Janus' family stayed with Patton's. The two of them shared a room, practically becoming brothers, and Janus' mother and father did as much as they could to help Patton's dads as repayment for letting them stay. Three years later Janus' family moved out and into their new home just a few houses down the street, but it was almost like both boys lived with each other, spending many nights at the others house and many days playing together. Janus was pulled out of his nostalgia when Remus spoke.

"It's worth a try." Remus decides with a shrug, "Don't you still have that case to do?" He then asks Janus, who shakes his head.

"There's going to be a day's recess before the totally not stupid and indecisive court decide when they want to continue with the case and hear more." Janus rolls his eyes when he mentions the court, they can sometimes be so corrupt, but Janus can play that game as well, and he's better. Besides, what's government without corruption? I'm not going to get in to that because Janus and Remus are now on their way to Logan and Patton's household, which actually isn't that far. All six of them promised to stay close to each other, and Remus also threatened that he'd kidnap them all and keep them in his house if they didn't stay in touch. Everyone learned from that one incident with Remus' bullies in middle school to take his threats seriously, because Remus will go through with them. Near the end of the car ride the baby woke up and they started crying, which made Janus jump and almost swerve off the street. Just a few more houses...Oh look! They're here!

"Should we go in with them crying?" Remus asked Janus, turning around in the passenger seat and rocking them in their carrier to calm them down, but they continued to cry.

"I don't know. Can you calm them down? Their crying isn't loud at all." Janus asked, getting out his phone and texting Patton, just an overview of it all, keeping the car running for a little while longer.

"I don't know how to calm them down!" Remus exasperatedly exclaims, continuing to gently rock the carrier the baby was in, but that did nothing to lessen their crying, "I don't know what's wrong!" Remus panics, he stops rocking them and quickly gets out of the car, grabs the carrier, and rushes to the door of Patton and Logan's house. Janus gets out and calmly follows him, not surprised to see Patton at the already open door because Janus - as I said - previously texted him when they were sitting in the car. Within five minutes Patton somehow has calmed her down - Logan has confirmed that the baby was a girl - and Janus and Remus were sat on the couch opposite to Logan and Patton.

"And you just found her last night on your doorstep? No note?" Logan asked the two of them, they just nodded. Patton was bouncing her on his leg, the both of them giggling, that seemed to distract Logan a little.

"Have you checked.... have you checked in the - um, the carrier?" Logan distractedly asked, then snapped back to attention. He wanted to make absolutely sure there was no note, no person would just leave a baby on a stranger's doorstep without some information. Remus was about to nod, but paused as he mentally backtracked to see if they did, and shook his head because they didn't. The both of them were really too tired to speak, having barely slept the night before and not getting any sleep last night, not to mention they hadn't had any coffee yet, they were just really tired. Logan had focused again and noticed Remus and Janus' strange behavior, Remus hasn't had one outburst yet and Janus hasn't spit out one untrue fact to get Logan fired up.

"I'll get some coffee first." He stated, getting up and going into the kitchen. Remus and Janus just nodded, not saying anything, but Logan didn't see.

————————————————————

"There was a note, it was below all the blankets." Logan says, standing up with a white paper in his hands.

"Well, what does it say?" Janus asked, leaning forward with his mug of coffee in hand.

"It says that her name is Lydia, she was born just last year on October 8th. Hmmm, it says that she has no allergies, favors strawberries as opposed to other baby foods, and should be able to eat regular foods as it is only a matter of time before she stops teething. She is eating more foods now though, so you don't have to worry about milk, and she does get unusually cold at times, so if she cries it's sometimes because she's cold and needs a heat source." Logan mumbled a few of the parts to himself as he read over the note, pacing a little bit as he was still standing. Remus had started to bounce his leg, unable to sit entirely still. Patton had quickly gotten up and later came back with a plate of small cut strawberries, assuming that she must be hungry.

"Did it say anything about the parent?" Patton asked after sitting back down, looking up at Logan, who skimmed over the note again and found the one sentence that mentioned the mother. Patton had started to feed Lydia and was now just listening, half paying attention to the conversation.

"'I can't take care of her and I have no family or friends to turn to, I will trust you with her in hopes I can go back to being a normal high schooler in a town far, far away from here.'" Logan finishes, a frown replacing the thin line his mouth was in.

"Awww, the poor girl. She's so young, on her own with no family or friends to turn to." Patton whined and looked down at Lydia in sympathy, Logan nodded.

"I agree, it is quite upsetting. But I assume there's no way of contacting her as she has probably gone off the grid, presumably taking up a new life in a different town, perhaps under a different name. Who's to say?" Logan predicted, the other three adults nodded, thinking that Logan was probably close to being correct.

"Wonderful news about the mother aside; can you take her in?" Janus asked the two adults opposite to him and Remus, they both looked at each other and Patton turned to them with an apologetic look, by this time Lydia had finished eating the strawberries.

"Look, I love kids, but I think if we take her in our financial stability will go down." Patton said with hesitance, not really wanting to turn his friend down on a matter like this.

"Not to mention that a baby needs a lot of attention and time, and with Patton busy at the bakery and me at my job we cannot give her those two things." Logan tersely states, leaving Janus and Remus feeling defeated.

"Why don't you take her in?" Patton asks, that got the both of them to have a crazy-evil laughing fit, Janus/Deceit's laugh was like the one he did after Virgil told him "maybe in opposite town" at the end of the Embarrassing Phases video, and Remus' was like the one he did after saying that the baby bird flew straight into an unseen jet turbine and caused the entire plane to crash down and no one survived it. That's the crazy-evil laugh.

"Do you realize who you're asking to take care of a baby? I'm the mentally unstable psychopath and my husband is the ruthless lawyer that may as well be karma in disguise!" Remus began to rant, "we are the most unfit people to take care of her! We don't even know what to do when she's crying, what she's crying for, when to feed her, when to put her down for a nap, what specific foods to feed her...and...and a bunch of other things I can't think of right now!" Remus took a breath to calm himself down a little and lowered his volume, "all I'm saying is: we can't take care of her." He finished, more serious than ever, Janus was just silently sitting next to him.

"Okay, let's make a deal then." - Logan decided to bargain - "We'll give you guys tips, and you two can take care of her for a month," the two husbands opened their mouths to protest, but Logan cut them off, "if at the end of the month you feel like you can't take care of her, Patton and I will take her in." Logan says, Janus sat back and thought this over for a few minutes while Remus continued to protest.

"Alright." Janus finally says, Remus turns to him, mouth hanging open.

"But J-" Janus just looks at Remus, almost pleading.

"How do we know we're bad with children if we don't try?" He asked, Remus mumbled in agreement with a pout. So, more or less, the both of them were willing to give it a shot, and Patton and Logan will take that as a big step in a good direction. So Logan and Patton gave Janus and Remus a ton of useful information about what and when to feed her, when to put her down for a nap and what to do if she won't sleep, how to change her diaper, what to do if she's choking or sick, and gave the husbands a list of what to baby proof.

————————————————————

"Hey, babe?" Janus heard Remus call from the kitchen.

"Yeah?" He called back.

"I need some help!" Remus says, not really giving much detail as to what was wrong, so Janus started on his way over cautiously. Meanwhile, Remus and Lydia have formed an alliance after 1 day of her being there, the adult informed the baby girl that when Janus walked through the kitchen door they will rain upon him by the fistful the sweet cereal known as Cheerios.

"What do you need?" Janus asked, walking through the door. Remus was the first to throw, then Lydia, Janus made an "of course" face as Cheerios bounced off his clothes. He looked down at them as they fell to the floor with a tiny "tac" and back up at Remus and Lydia, who were laughing together adorably. The sight made Janus somewhat smile, this moment almost felt natural to him, like she was actually theirs, like this was an everyday occurrence. Janus never said this aloud though, instead he raised his brow and looked at Remus.

"You're both picking those up and wiping the floor, I just cleaned the kitchen last weekend." Janus ordered and scolded the both of them a little at the end.

————————————————————

It has been a week since the husbands took in Lydia, Janus left halfway through to continue his court case, of course he was only gone during the day though. Remus was cautious around Lydia the entire time, not knowing quite what to do with her, Remus always loves making trouble with her though. Janus wishes there was something else that Remus would think to do with her, but he can't complain when they're bonding and having fun.

Janus had the Saturday off since they were taking another break (I have no idea how long court cases work so I'm sorry if this is inaccurate) and he decided that they should go to the park, all three of them. I mean, it's obvious they have to take Lydia, they can't just leave her at the house alone.

"Do you think that's enough sunscreen? I don't want her to get sunburnt, then all her skin will peel off." Remus wanted Janus' opinion as he rubbed some sunscreen on her arm, Janus confirms that it was enough and he put her in the stroller.

"Ready?" Janus asked.

"Set." Remus confirms, and when they were almost out the door Remus remembered something.

"Not yet!" He ran back and grabbed a baggie of Cheerios and her yellow blanket in case she gets cold.

"Okay, now we're good to go!" Remus said after he zipped back to the front door. The three of them exited the house and Janus locked the door behind them, then they walked down the sidewalk. They had no destination in mind, just thought they'd wander around and enjoy the fresh air, maybe hit the little cul-de-sac where there's a small park. Of course the whole time Remus was just talking about random things, hopping from one topic to one completely opposite from the previous.

"You know that spinny thing in the park that parents spin their kids on? I wonder if that would be able to spin kids fast enough so they go hurtling into space, and then - oh! A dog! I wonder what would happen if roles were reversed, if the dogs were actually the humans and if the humans were dogs, then we'd be sniffing their butts..." Remus continues to ramble, not caring about who's listening. Janus just let him, it was somewhat nice to just listen to him.

They reached the little park and went right to the baby/toddler swings, placed Lydia in one, and Janus gently pushed her as Remus continued to talk. The park wasn't that big; there was six swings in total, three baby/toddler swings and three for older kids, a small playscape with stairs, a platform, and a slide on one side and a pole on the other, and then there's a zip line and a weird spinning thing.

"I bet you I can fit in this." Remus says, cutting off his previous rant and bringing Janus' attention back to him. What Janus saw was Remus about to climb into the baby swing, which wouldn't really bother him if Remus didn't have dummy thicc thighs.

"No because you'll get stuck, and if you get stuck I'm leaving you here." Janus warns, and Remus actually listens and backs off from doing something stupid for once. Lydia let out some baby babble that was incomprehensible, Remus pulled her back while she was still in the swing and bent down a bit to be face to face with her.

"Whatddya want trouble maker?" He asked, she looked up at him with a smile, reached up, and placed her little chubby hand on his nose. Remus started to laugh and took her hand off his nose, letting her grip his finger.

"J! She just booped me!" He laughed again.

"I told you we'd be alright at this." Janus came around and hugged Remus from behind. Of course, moments like these are often ruined by other people, this person being a homophobe. So the person yelled a slur at them and Remus retaliated by sticking his middle finger in the air.

"Fuck you!" Remus shouted.

"Fuck!" A happy little voice piped up, Remus and Janus look down at Lydia.

"Fuck!" She giggled again.

"Hahahaha! Yes! Her first word is a swear!" Remus laughed, meanwhile, Janus was mortified. Remus shouted it, then Lydia, then Remus would shout it in different funny voices, and Lydia would shout it back.

"Remus, you shouldn't be teaching her that!" Janus scolded.

"Aw! Why not? It's funny to hear her little voice say that." Remus whines.

"Because she could teach other kids that, and that would make us look bad." Janus hisses.

"Oh no! She's not playing around any grubby little maggots, she could get hurt." Remus declares, "plus, you think any Karen will let the daughter of two raging homosexuals near her 'precious baby'? Of course not!" Remus made his voice high and mocking on "precious baby", Lydia coos and all of Remus' attention was on her, he took her out of the swing and started babbling about how she's their precious baby.

————————————————————

They spent a few more minutes in the park before they decided to walk back to their house, but unlike on the way over, Remus was silent. It was strangely unusual and a tense air accumulated around the both of them, leaving the walk home somewhat painfully slow. Once they got home and settled Lydia down for a nap, Janus confronted Remus in the living room.

"What's for dinner tonight?" Remus asked, trying to avoid the topic.

"Remus, what's wrong?" Janus asked again, more forcefully.

"What if we're not ready yet? I mean, yeah, we're getting good with baby Lydia, but what about child Lydia? Oh god, what about teen Lydia? Will we be able to handle her when she's older? What about when she comes to us asking questions?" The worries tumbled out of Remus' mouth as he started pacing in front of Janus.

"Hey, hey!" Janus grabs Remus' hands to stop his pacing, "We'll never know if we're ready or not, we'll never know how she'll turn out when she's older, but that's okay, Re. We just have to trust in our decisions to keep her safe." Janus said, Remus nodded, knowing his husband was right.

"And I'm positive," Janus breathed out a laugh, getting Remus to smile, "that we'll be great parents no matter how many mistakes we've made." Janus says, wrapping his arms around Remus' waist.

"So we're keeping her?" Remus asked, still on the fence about everything.

"Of course!" Remus opened his mouth, but Janus cuts him off before he can say anything, "Re, listen, I've seen you with her. She adores you, and you're careful enough to not let anything happen to her. You're amazing at this." Janus reassured him, Remus nodded, calming down. Reassurance was what Remus really needed, reassurance that he was doing things right, that he wasn't gonna screw this up.

"Still, let's just wait till the end of the month." Remus insisted, Janus just nods. He knows they're keeping her, he knows Remus wouldn't want to let her go, but if agreeing with that would make Remus more comfortable, then he'll agree to it.

————————————————————

Janus came home around noon, feeling very proud. The case he was working on was finally over, after another week and a half, and he won. The only reason it dragged on for so long was because the husband/father was making false and ridiculous accusations, but it's all over now. Janus took off his shoes and walked into the kitchen, where he heard noise coming from. He came up from behind Remus, who was at the counter on his phone, and kissed the back of his neck.

"You're home early." Remus said, a grin spread over his face. He flipped himself around and now Janus was pinning him against the counter. Janus met Remus's lips with his and the moment lasted for a good few minutes before the husbands heard a whine, Lydia was in the room and she'd like Janus to greet her as well. He walked over with a grin and kissed the top of her head.

"Were my little monsters good while I was gone?" Janus asked in a higher voice as he spoke to Lydia, as if she'd answer.

"Papa!" She just cheered in her cute little voice, Janus was taken aback. She called him papa, an overwhelming amount of happiness hit Janus like a tidal wave and he teared up.

"Re," Janus' voice is like one you'd hear when people are trying not to cry, because he actually is trying not to cry, "she called me papa!" He laughed, wiping his eyes, but more tears pooled and some spilled. Remus walks up to him and rubs the ones running down his face.

"Yeah, she did. We've been practicing." Remus says, kissing Janus' forehead. Lydia heard her other dad say they've been practicing, so she wanted to proudly demonstrate another word she learned.

"Taxes!" She shouted, Remus and Janus looked at her, both are very confused and Janus is on the verge of laughter.

"Yeah, don't know where she got that one from." Remus' statement set Janus off, he laughed for a good few minutes before calming down. Remus wrapped his arms around Janus' waist in a hug and they stayed like that for a few minutes, then Remus broke the silence.

"I missed your lovely laugh." He mumbled, and it was true. Janus hadn't really genuinely laughed like that in a while, and Remus was happy to hear it again. Maybe they were ready for a kid, maybe Lydia was a good thing for them.

————————————————————————

Another week has passed, so this is like the third week now, and Roman and Virgil came over that day, wanting to meet Lydia. Before they got there, Remus had the grand idea to shave his mustache, he could always grow it back. But after a few minutes of Roman being next to Remus Lydia was looking very confused between the both of them, causing the four of them to double over in laughter. Without Remus' mustache he looked almost exactly like Roman, they were twins after all, but still, the alikeness was scary.

"I never thought you guys would actually get a kid." Virgil says to Remus, both of them were in the living room watching Lydia while Janus and Roman were in the kitchen baking or cooking something, whatever it was it smelled good. Remus smiles at Lydia as she makes a tower with her blocks, and then pushes it down laughing.

"Yeah, neither did I. But I've become quite attached to her, and I'm surprisingly really good at this parenting stuff so far." Virgil could see how Remus looks at her, with all the love his heart can give. He wants to protect her, to make her happy. Virgil's joking comment about how he's having a proper conversation with Remus dies in the back of his throat and he smiles at his friends happiness.

"Yeah, I can see that." Virgil replies, saying nothing more and going back to watching Lydia again.

Lunch was great, Roman and Janus cooked some chicken with breadcrumbs on it, and Janus cut it into small pieces to feed Lydia. There was actually pleasant conversation around the table, and Roman was teasing Remus a bit about actually being PG, but that was thrown out the window when Lydia shouted out "fuck" when she was finished with her chicken. That caused three of the adults to laugh while Janus just sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, Lydia just giggled at everyone.

————————————————————————

It was the end of the month, and despite Remus' heart telling him that Lydia is theirs, his head says otherwise. He's not ready, he's too inappropriate for a child, what will he do when she grows up, he could never properly care or be there for her. There were just so many bad thoughts about this, maybe his head was right. Remus was staring off into space on the couch by the window, Lydia was on the other side of the room playing in the kitchen entrance. She looked over and saw her dad looking sad, she didn't want him to be sad! But he was so far away, it would take her forever to crawl over there! So, Lydia grabbed the kitchen doorway and pulled herself up, then she started taking small steps towards him.

Janus walked in and startled Remus with his shout, Remus looked around confused until he saw Lydia almost halfway across the room walking towards him! Janus was patting himself down looking for his phone to record while Remus was just sitting there in awe, staring at the laughing little girl taking her first steps towards him of all people. Janus finally found his phone and started recording when she was 2/3 of the way there, she reached Remus and he picked her up and brought her to his chest, tears leaking from his eyes.

"I love you! I love you! I love you! You're my baby girl, I'll never let you go!" Remus cried, Janus stopped recording, he had a huge smile on his face and he joined Remus on the couch. Janus hugged to both of them and kissed the top of their heads.

"Does this mean you made up your mind? Are we keeping her?" Janus asked, Remus just nodded, not being able to properly speak through his blubbering over Lydia. After a few minutes Remus calmed down.

"I think we should go out for ice-cream after dinner." Remus suggested, Janus agreed. So they ate dinner, then got in the car and drove over to DQ.

"Think she'll like chocolate or vanilla?" Remus asked, he had his arms wrapped around Lydia, holding her up and refusing to let her go.

"Let's just give her a swirl. It's both." Janus shrugged, Remus agreed and they ordered. Both adults got blizzards, Janus' was mint chocolate chip, Remus' was m&m, and Lydia had a small chocolate and vanilla swirl in a cup.

"You know," Janus began, a smirk replacing his warm smile, "I wonder what the others would think of they saw that wholesome video." Remus gasped and feigned offense.

"You would never! My reputation among our friend group will be ruined!" He cried, Janus chuckled at Remus' dramatics. The next day Janus informed Patton and Logan that they were keeping her, Patton was ecstatic and Logan was just pleased.

————————————————————————

Janus and Remus got out of the car, soon Lydia was right next to them. She was wearing a cute yellow skirt and a green and blue Stitch shirt, the fathers were on either side of her and holding her hands.

"Ready?" Janus asked, looking at Remus.

"Set." Remus confirmed, then they both looked down at Lydia.

"Let's go!" Their now five year old Lidya cheered, running to the front door, eager for her first day of kindergarten. Remus and Janus were calmly walking after her, hand in hand and fingers intertwined, Janus laid his head on Remus' shoulder and Remus laid his head atop Janus'.

"We did good." Remus sighed out, Janus turned and gave his husband a short and sweet kiss before turning back and chuckling at Lydia rushing them from a distance.

"Yeah, we really did." Janus replied, his voice was light and there was admiration in his eyes directed at his husband and their little girl. They both finally entered through the school doors with Lydia right in front of them, and came back out a few minutes later without her. It seems only a short time ago she was just their baby girl, and now she's growing up so fast and already in kindergarten, and the husbands are so proud of her and would never have it any other way.

"But what if the other kids won't play with her." Janus let out a sigh at Remus' nonstop worrying.

"Re, she'll be fine! She's strong willed and nice and friendly, I'm sure the kids will like her." Janus said, but groaned when Remus continued to worry. Janus had to deal with Remus' constant "what if"s all day until they picked her up.

"Daddy, papa! Daddy, papa!" She repeated, running up to them and into Remus' awaiting arms. He picked her up and spun her around as she squealed and giggled, then stopped so Janus could hug her as well.

"Did my precious monster have fun?" Remus asked, a wide grin plastered on his face. Lydia nodded and began telling them about her day, how she comforted and made friends with the crying girl that missed her mom, how she colored in a picture of a dog, how she had so much fun running around and going on the swings during recess.

"Wow! Sounds like you had an amazing day!" Janus said, the girl nodded with a big smile, by this time they were home and relaxing on the couch.

"See, I told you there was nothing to worry about." Remus nodded in defeat, accepting the fact that his husband was right and Lydia would be fine at school.

"Uncle Pat, Uncle Lo!" Nine year old Lydia cheered, running up and giving the both of them a hug while Janus and Remus were behind her with her friend. Now, even though they aren't related, she still thinks of them as her uncles because they're always close and are around a lot.

"There's the birthday girl!" Patton cheered, picking her up and spinning her around a few times before he put her back on the ground, "phew, you're getting big! It used to be so easy to do that!" Patton exclaims, Lydia just giggles in response. So today was her birthday and she wanted to make cookies at Patton's bakery with her friend, Cece (Cerci is her full name and this was the very same girl Lydia comforted on her first day in kindergarten). Lydia went back to Cece's side and the six of them walked into the kitchen part of the bakery, the ingredients were already out, so they were able to bake immediately.

They had so much fun baking together, Patton and Remus teamed up with the two kids and kept on sneaking the cookie dough. Janus and Logan found out after a few minutes and then it turned into a game of keep away, because Patton swiped the bowl from the counter and passed it to Remus after he saw Logan and Janus chasing him. They kept that up for a few minutes till Logan caught up with Lydia, who could barely run because she was laughing so much. The cookies were finally put in the oven and Logan and Janus gave up keeping the kids and their husbands away from the chocolate chips and m&m's.

When they left they took a few cookies with them, but the rest were eaten. All in all, it was a good day.

Eleven year old Lydia was bouncing excitedly in the back seat, looking out the window at all the water rides. When they parked the car she was about to get out and run to the two men making their way over, but Janus stopped her and said for them to put on sunscreen first. Lydia whined at that, but obeyed and protected her skin from the wrath of the sun's rays.

"Hi Uncle Roman, hi Uncle Virgil!" Lydia greeted them with a hug after she finished putting on her sunscreen, they hugged her back with just as much enthusiasm. So, Roman and Virgil are actually her uncles because Roman is Remus' brother, but even if they weren't she'd still call them that.

"Oh! You used to be so little!" Roman squealed, "I used to put you in all these Disney princess dresses and we would play together!" He hugged her tight before letting go, Virgil snorted at that.

"Yeah, then you got emotional and blubbered on and on about how one day you won't be her prince anymore." Remus laughs at that, saying he remembered it, and Roman faked offense.

"You'll always be my prince, Uncle Roman!" Lydia declared, Roman let out a triumphant "ha" and turned away from the three other adults with a huff.

"Come on, princess, we have water slides to go on!" Roman took Lydia's hand and they both ran up the sidewalk towards the entrance to the park laughing.

"Hey! She's my duchess!" Remus shouted, chasing after them. Janus and Virgil just shook their heads with a slight chuckled.

"If they get into trouble, we don't know them." Virgil said, Janus nodded in agreement.

Janus, Logan, and Virgil were the ones to go down to the beach and set up their spot while everyone else slept. After a few hours everyone else came down, the waves crashing on the shore was too tempting. Roman, who swore he wouldn't get his perfect hair wet, ran towards the water with Remus, Patton, and Lydia at his heels. The four of them played in the water, diving in and out of the waves, picking up shells, Remus came up with seaweed on his head and acted like it was his actual hair. After an hour Remus saw Janus lying in his chair sunbathing, and he got a brilliant idea.

Remus and Lydia got in front of him with a bucket, and dumped the water on him, making Janus flail about in alarm before he realized what was happening. Lydia and Remus doubled over in laughter and Janus got up, that's when Roman came from behind and dumped another bucket of water on Janus, making Remus and Lydia laugh harder. Lydia's laughter turned into a shriek of surprise when Janus picked her up and was heading towards the water, she began squirming and pleading and apologizing, but Janus made up his mind. When he was thigh deep, Janus hoisted Lydia up and threw her into the water, then he managed to catch up to Remus and do the same thing. That got Roman and Virgil to laugh while Logan was smirking and Patton was giggling, Roman didn't expect Janus to grab him as well, he also threw a squirming Roman into the ocean, which got Logan to laugh as Virgil and Patton laughed harder.

They calmed down for lunch and Logan made them reapply sunscreen and wait to go back in the water or else they'd get a cramp, so the next best thing was for them to go an a walk. Remus, Roman, Virgil, and Lydia all walked down the beach till they came across a pathway of rocks going out and to the left, so they obviously walked along it. They were careful not to slip on the wet parts, and Roman helped Virgil while Remus helped Lydia get across a sketchy part of the path. They finally made it to the end, where a metal structure was, and enjoyed the view and the soothing wind. Then Remus helped Lydia and she was standing on top of the metal structure, of course they couldn't stay there, so after a few minutes Remus helped Lydia back down and they made their way back. Then Patton began digging a hole in the sand with Lydia, and Remus joined later and was dipping Lydia into the hole by her ankles to get more sand out.

In the afternoon they were all beached out and went back up to the rented beach house, where they showered and changed into clean clothes. They were all just sitting around after dinner, relaxing when Patton got an idea.

"How about mini golf?" Everyone agreed and agreed the the terms that the loser buys everyone ice-cream after. So they all played, Lydia somehow manages to get a few hole-in-ones but doesn't win, and Roman was the loser. Logan was the one tallying the scores and he tied Janus in first place.

They all were tired when they got back, they went to sleep and the next day went to the candy store they recently discovered was there. Lydia was just really happy to be with her dads and uncles, just one big happy family.

"But what if there are undetectable toxins in the school and it will infect their bloodstream and leave them writhing on the floor, suffering until they finally die?!" Both Janus and Lydia rolled their eyes at this, it's always like this when she moves up a school, Remus always worries about her first day and won't stop until she's home again.

"Stop worrying dad, you're worse than Uncle Virgil when it comes to this! And, if anything, I should be the nervous one." Lydia claims, Janus takes her hand in his and rubs his thumb over her knuckles.

"I know, but you're our brave little girl." As much as Lydia wanted to roll her eyes at the sentiment, she found herself smiling and giving Janus' hand a comforting squeeze.

"I know, papa." Then Remus hugged her from behind.

"I remember the first time you called him that, he was trying not to cry and then you yelled out 'taxes' right after." That got all three of them to laugh, but these good moments can't last because soon they were waving goodbye to her as she met up with her friends at the front entrance of the high school.
