Need a Hand?-Royality
Guess who's turning 15 today? Me! I did!
"Congratulations kiddo! You're only a few years away from fully achieving adultery!"
Patton! It's adulthood! Anyway, I had this done, I just wanted to post it today because it's my birthday and I wanted to do something special for you guys. On with the story!!!
High school AU
Patton's mother had always taught him to be kind, that's where he got his big heart. She taught him kindness because of where Patton's soulmate mark is; his palm and the underside of his fingers. She didn't want him to meet his soulmate via an unpleasant action, so she told him that no matter how awful people are, you don't know what they're going through. Patton had always kept that piece of advice with him every time someone would slam him up against the lockers, or smack his lunch tray from his hands, and he would always smile through it.
Roman is what you would expect in a high school theater jock; he was kind, an amazing actor and singer, and very popular. But his only true friend was an emo named Virgil, everyone thought they'd be soulmates. I mean, what else could bring together the outcast of the school and the popular theater kid? But they weren't, they both had different markings. Roman's was his palm and the underside of his fingers, Virgil's was a dot on his shoulder. Both Patton and Roman are very extroverted, always talking with people, and they give their soulmate marks as much human contact as possible. Pats on the back, on the head, shaking hands, anything that's good human contact. Of course, Roman isn't afraid to slap a bitch, he thinks of Virgil as the little brother he's always wanted instead of the twin trash gremlin he actually got. Roman would protect Virgil no matter what.
Patton's friend is a boy named Deceit. He was cold towards Patton at first, not trusting him. But when nothing changed in Patton's kind and caring nature towards Deceit, he finally let Patton in and see how broken he really is. Patton didn't exactly change his demeanor towards anyone else, but he's soft around Patton and very protective of him. They weren't soulmates, Deceit had soulmate marks that make it seem like his soulmate would hug him, so their relationship was very platonic.
It was almost October, two years after the two pairs became friends, and Virgil was walking down the hall and excitedly talking to Roman about his Halloween costume ideas.
"Since you're taller, you'd be Jake and I'll be Rich." Virgil wanted to take his younger brother, Remy, trick-or-treating, seeing it as a perfect opportunity to dress up and get free candy from strangers by saying three small words. Roman wanted to do something with musicals and Virgil wanted to go as a pair, but the problem was that Roman wanted to go as JD. Virgil is not dressing up as Veronica.
"Please Virge! You can dress up as the male version of Veronica." Roman begged, looking at the small emo next to him. Since Roman wasn't paying attention to his surroundings and not looking where he was going, he accidentally crashed into someone who tumbled to the ground while he stumbled back a little.

Patton was on his way to his next class that he had with Deceit, he took out his phone and looked to see that he received a text from said friend. He looked up, but not in time. He crashed into a very firm chest that was walking in the opposite direction he was and Patton fell back.
"Oh no! I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going and I didn't see you. Are you alright?" A frantic and familiar voice asked Patton, he looked up and swallowed down a gasp. Roman Prince, the most attractive and talented guy in the school, was asking Patton if he was okay when Patton was the one who crashed into him. Patton put on a sheepish smile and shyly chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Sorry for crashing into you, I wasn't looking where I was going." He looked up at Roman.

Roman found the boy's shyness adorable, and realized he was still on the floor. When the boy looked up Roman had his hand out to help him up, not really paying attention that it was his where his soulmate was supposed to touch him, it was just his dominant hand. Roman's breath hitched when he saw the boy's beautiful blue and sparkling eyes, the wrinkles at the end and naturally pink cheeks told Roman that he smiled a lot.

Patton looked into Roman's beautiful amber eyes and it was just a minute of staring before Patton broke eye contact and looked at the ground, his face heated up and he didn't want this very attractive peer to see it. Patton grabbed Roman's outstretched hand, not paying attention to the soulmate mark, and Roman helped him up.
"You're Patton, right?" Patton looked at Roman, confused and slightly panicked. Roman knows his name. Roman knows his name. ROMAN KNOWS HIS NAME!!! Patton realized that he hasn't said anything yet, so he mentally told himself to calm down and nodded to Roman's question.
"And you're Roman." Patton said, then realized that must've sounded creepy, "uh-not to be creepy it's just I-um-I know who you are because I've seen you-uh-I've seen you in the shows we put on and-uhhh-around the halls. I don't follow you or anything-it's just-uh, maybe I should probably stop talking." Patton's face was burning in embarrassment, but he still smiled.

Roman found himself chuckling at this adorable boy's-sorry, Patton's-stuttering, not even knowing that they were still holding hands. Virgil was watching the whole ordeal with a smirk, knowing what was going on with these two nice extroverts. Everyone knows Patton as really nice, they just don't bother to befriend him.
"It's fine. I get that a lot." Roman chuckled, both he and Patton looked down at their intertwined hands at the same time, they both let go and awkwardly shuffled away from each other.
"S-sorry." Patton stuttered again, Roman felt his heart skip a beat as Patton shyly rubbed the back of his neck. Virgil was long gone, feeling grossed out by the obvious feelings they have for each other despite the chance of them not being soulmates, and he didn't want to be late to class. Roman was about to say something, but was interrupted by the warning bell.
"Oh shoot! I gotta go!" Patton said frantically, just before Patton rushed off Roman felt a tug in his heart, telling him to do something. Roman caught his sleeve and Patton spun around, but as Patton was looking expectantly at him Roman caught a flash of color on his usually black soulmate mark. Roman got a closer look and, sure enough, his mark was going through red, light blue, and a light shade of purple.
"He's my soulmate." Roman mumbled to himself, shocked and ecstatic.

Patton heard Roman mumble something, looking down at his right hand.
"I'm sorry? I didn't catch that. What did you say?" Patton asked, shifting his weight from one foot to the other in impatience. He was going to be late to class. Roman took out a sticky note and gave it to Patton, who found his face red again when he saw it was the actors number.
"Do you think you can meet me in the auditorium after school? If not, then we'll make plans to meet up at lunch or something. Let me know." Then he rushed off, leaving Patton to stand there, dumbfounded and blushing. The two minute warning bell rang and Patton realized he needed to move, he managed to make it to class in time. Even better, there was a sub, meaning they could do whatever they want. Patton breathlessly collapsed in his seat next to Deceit's, and boy was he going to hear it.
"Where have you been? I thought you were skipping or got into trouble!" Deceit started to rant, and Patton knows how long these things usually last, it's better to cut him off now than let him go on and on.
"I'm sorry, I accidentally ran into Roman Prince and we got caught up talking." Patton visibly blushed when he said the boy's name, imagining his beautiful eyes and sparkling smile. Deceit saw Patton's blush and immediately went into protective mom mode.
"You have a soulmate, remember? Besides, he's no good for you." Deceit said with an upturned nose, Patton looked down at his soulmate mark gloomily. Patton brought back Deceit's attention when he did a sharp intake of breath, still staring at his soulmate mark.
"What? What is it?" Deceit pestered Patton, worried about why his friend gasped the way he did. Deceit found the reason when he peered down at Patton's hand, gasping too. Patton's soulmate mark was not black anymore, it was going through the colors red, light blue, and light purple.
"Who was the last person you touched?" Deceit asked, knowing that the class before he and Patton separated, Patton's soulmate mark was still black.
"It...it was Roman." Patton said, trailing off as he remembered that Roman helped him up, and just before they parted he was acting weird and looking at his hand. Deceit sighed, happy that Patton found his soulmate, but not trusting of Roman whatsoever. Patton had the rest of his classes with Deceit, and he couldn't drop the huge smile that was glued onto his face.

It was the end of school. Roman raced down to the auditorium and was nervously pacing on the stage, waiting to see if Patton was going to show up or message him. His phone buzzed and he quickly looked to see it was an unknown number.
Unknown: Hi, it's Patton! I might be a little late because my locker's on the opposite side of the school from where my last class is, but I'll definitely come down!
Roman quickly added the number to his contacts as 💙Shy Smol💙.
————————————————————
✨Prince Charming✨: That's fine! I'm glad you decided to talk now!
Patton quickly ran to his locker with Deceit at his heels, he said he wanted to make sure the prince didn't try anything. He told Patton that during their last period and Patton reassured him that Roman wouldn't do anything bad, still blushing every time his name came up. Patton made it through the auditorium doors, gasping for breath because he ran all the way. Deceit slipped in behind Patton and slithered into the the seats that were in the dark , watching Patton and Roman's interaction closely.
"So, what did you need to talk to me about?" Patton asked, bouncing on the balls of his feet, trying to contain his excitement that Roman Prince was his soulmate. It wasn't the fact that Roman was popular, it was the fact that he was caring and, despite having many people swoon over him, he was nice and considerate to everyone who came up to him with good intentions.
"Well, you must have noticed that we're soulmates, and I was wondering if, this weekend, we could go to the coffee shop my moms own and get to know each other. I don't want to rush anything." Roman explained, Patton saw him playing with his fingers and continuously look down at them and away from Patton. He found it sort of flattering that Roman was nervous around him, butterflies in his stomach started going crazy at the fact that the popular and eccentric Roman Prince was adorably nervous around him.
"I would love to!" Patton chirps, making Roman look up happily, "where should we meet?" Patton asked.
————————————————————
He was so sweet. Patton was going to meet him somewhere so they could walk together, Roman decided to be smooth, turning on the charm to hide the nervous and ecstatic feelings he had.
"How about your house?" Roman flashed Patton a smile and almost broke character when he saw Patton's cheeks a darker pink than usual.
"I-uh-ye-yeah, I would-I would lo-erm-like that very much!" Patton stutters, everything about this smol shy boi made Roman absolutely adore him.
————————————————————
It was Saturday, almost noon to be specific, and Patton was pacing in his living room. Nervous butterflies fluttered in his stomach and yet he was smiling with excitement, he had found his soulmate. The agonizing wait was over; no more wondering who he'd be, no more wondering when he'll show up, because he's in Patton's school and will soon take him on a date. Is it a date? Did Patton dress too informal? It was his usual light blue polo t-shirt and beige khakis, he just had his cat cardigan on rather than wrapped around his shoulders.
"Relax Patton. It's just a get-to-know-you coffee outing." With your soulmate. Patton breaths in, he breaths out. In. Out. In. Out. In. Knock, knock. Out. Patton walked over to the door with a smile and opened it to see Roman waiting there with something behind his back, when Patton opened the door Roman took out a bouquet of multiple flowers, most were red, but the rest were yellow and white.
"Wow Roman! These are amazing! Where did you get them?" Patton could not push away the fluttery feeling in his stomach and chest, it made him feel light. Roman was wearing a red, gray, and black plaid button up with a white t-shirt underneath, and he had on some dark blue jeans.
"My surrogate father runs a flower shop." Roman explains dismissively. Patton quickly got a vase and some water and set the flowers in it before heading out with Roman. The date went very well after they both got over their nervousness, which is not a feeling they expected to have upon knowing who their soulmate was.
Roman and Patton talked and laughed together, they spent a lot of time together at school, and on their third date Roman asked Patton to be his boyfriend. Patton couldn't have been happier, he's got someone who can be there for him on a whole other level than friends or family. Roman was happy that he found his soulmate he'd been dreaming of for forever, and he was better than Roman ever thought.
