Virgil lay sprawled out on his bed, letting his eyes slip close for a few moments as it hit him how tired he really was.
It had been a fairly calm day, no filming or planning or much work being done at all, but that hadn't stopped Virgil from tiring himself out with worrying over small things Thomas' or the other sides did. It was not something Virgil, as the embodiment of anxiety, could ever really escape.
He rolled over onto his side, hand automatically reaching out to grasp at nothing. He opened his eyes again, confused for just a second before realizing that it was Logan that he had been reaching for.
Right, he was in his own room. His face heated slightly at the realization that he hadn't spent a night alone for at least the past two weeks, not since the two of them had become comfortable enough in their relationship to share a bed, and that in that time it had become just a reflex to reach for his boyfriend to hold him closer.
It did make a soft kind of feeling settle in his chest. It was so easy to trust Logan, to feel safe in his company, which was of course one of the major reasons a relationship between them had the chance to work out. (He wasn't going to jinx it, no way.)
He stared at the empty space next to him. The two of them always stayed in Logan's room, because of Virgil's room's general effect on everyone else, which made him feel a bit stupid for feeling that there was something missing, since it had never been there in the first place.
He ignored that thought and wrapped himself up in his covers. If he was tired then there was not really a point in getting up and finding Logan before going to sleep. Not when they had already shared a bed for the past two weeks, they still had their own rooms, maybe it was a bit excessive to spend every day and night together?
That thought seemed correct for about fifteen minutes, which was how long it took him to realize that he was already really missing his boyfriend's company. It felt slightly stupid, seeing as they had literally had dinner together and had been sitting together during the movie they all watched after dinner, which was only a few hours ago.
But he always wanted to be with Logan. Long before his feelings for Logan had become romantic he had felt that same way, they had always been very comfortable together. Virgil wouldn't mind spending even more time with his boyfriend, although it was nice to have their own rooms when either of them needed some alone time.
He kind of wished they had their own space that had no bad or strange effects for either of them, such as Virgil's room making the others acutely aware of their anxieties, and Logan's room making it difficult for everyone else to think about anything from a more emotional point of view than logical.
Logan's room was the best choice out of the two, but it made things a bit difficult sometimes as their relationship had to do with a whole lot of emotion.
Virgil kicked his covers off and sat up, because maybe getting up and leaving his room to knock on Logan's door and ask if he could stay there tonight too was just a better way to go than to stay in his own bed thinking about how nice it would be to cuddle up to Logan.
He got out of bed and opened the door between his bedroom and his main room, assuring himself that if Logan hadn't gotten tired of him for two weeks then he wouldn't be now, and that if Logan did want some space then he at least knew that and could just go back to his own room.
He shut his bedroom door behind him, as he always did on the off chance that anyone would enter his room for long enough to notice how much messier he kept his bedroom than his main room. But then he paused only two steps through the room, staring at what was definitely a new doorway.
"Hey, what the fuck?" Virgil said to no one in particular, because new doorways just don't appear out of nowhere like that. He certainly hadn't seen this door before, and it would have been hard to miss.
Staring suspiciously at the door he walked towards his other door, the one that led to the rest of the mindscape. He opened it, sticking his head out to see that it still went where it should (just in case), which it did.
The hallway was empty but the same as always, or at least it looked that way on a first glance, but then he noticed that there was a new doorway there too. He stared at it, then back into his room at his new doorway.
"What the fuck?" He said again.
It was the same color, a plain black, and Virgil's first thought was that a new side had joined them, but it didn't make sense that the same door would appear in his bedroom then, too. But the hallway doorway was on the other side of the hallway, which didn't make them look connected, despite the color, and Virgil didn't know of any side who would have a black door.
Everyone's door had the same color as the color associated with the side who lived behind it, it was just how they appeared.
Virgil closed the door to the hallway and turned back towards the door in his room, nearing it suspiciously. It just stood there, closed. He reached out and rested his hand on the door handle, debating if opening it could be dangerous in some way.
Of course he could think of about a million reasons why opening a strange door might be dangerous, but keeping it closed and having no idea what was on the other side of this mysterious door seemed equally dangerous, because if there was anything on the other side, then that had access to Virgil's room, and he really should find out what it was.
Maybe it was something similar to Roman's and Remus' door to the imagination? Though Virgil didn't dare think what kind of nightmare dimension this door would lead to then, if it was his.
"Rip of the bandaid, just gotta rip off the bandaid." He mumbled, taking a bracing breath and pulling the door open.
It was... a room, a bedroom. That was of course not a strange thing to find behind a door, but there was also a person in the room, and it was not some new side, actually, it was a side Virgil knew fairly well.
"Logan?" He said, making his boyfriend jump and drop a book that he seemed to have pulled out of a bookshelf.
"H- hello, Virgil." He said, flushing slightly and bending down to quickly pick the book back up, the hood of Virgil's hoodie falling over his head. Virgil had forgotten that he had let him borrow his hoodie earlier, and he realized once again that he was a genius for doing so because Logan looked adorable wearing it.
"So, uh, what's with the door? And the room?" Virgil wondered, stepping inside it and looking around curiously. If it was Logan's creation then he doubted it was particularly dangerous or scary.
"Oh, it is not your doing, then?" Logan said, putting the book back in the bookshelf and turning to face him properly. Virgil shook his head, meeting his eyes.
"So, it's not you?" He said, which definitely made the whole thing a bit creepy again, because as soon as he had seen Logan things seemed to have made sense, but if the room had just showed up on its own, then that was kind of weird, wasn't it?
"I did not make the room, no. I just noticed a new door in my own room, which is the kind of thing you have to investigate." Logan walked over to where Virgil was standing, looking around the room curiously.
"Oh, okay, that's kind of freaky, because I found a door in my room too, and it leads here. And there's also a new door in the hallway." Virgil said, and Logan raised his brows and reached behind Virgil to open the door to the anxious side's room.
"Hm, both our rooms lead to this room? Fascinating." Logan said, which was definitely one word for it.
His and Logan's rooms were not next to each other, which made him unsure exactly where this room really existed and how the doors led there, but then again none of them were real and only existed in the mind of their host, which likely meant that their home wouldn't have to abide to any sort of laws of nature or anything, probably.
"I suppose we should look around." Logan said, which seemed to be exactly what he had already been doing once Virgil had entered. Logan didn't seem to have found the room much earlier than Virgil had.
Virgil took another look around the room. It was a bedroom, which he had already figured out. It was pretty large, with two desks and a big comfy-looking bed that had a tv facing it. The sheets of the bed were purple, which was his color, and the covers were space themed. The walls of the room were a dark purple, or perhaps a purple-ish blue, it was hard to tell.
There were some posters on the walls, some that could have been taken right from Virgil's room, and some that he wouldn't have been surprised to find in Logan's room. A lot of details, like a bunch of the kind of puzzles that Logan enjoyed being stacked in the bookshelf, or the amount of fidget toys that seemed to be left in a small box on one of the desks, just made it seem like the perfect room, for the both of them.
"Oh." It slipped from his lips as soon as a thought hit him, and Logan instantly turned from the closet he had been exploring.
"What is it?" He wondered, and Virgil bit his lip, glancing around the room again to assure himself.
"So, I've got a theory that would make sense." He said, face definitely heating.
"So do I, but you go first." Logan said with a nod, which Virgil didn't like at all because on the off chance that he was wrong it would be terribly embarrassing.
"Well, um, both our rooms have doors leading here, and it's pretty obviously decorated for the both of us... so, I guess it gotta be a room for both of us?" He said, not exactly sounding confident in himself, but it would have to do. Logan nodded, smiling slightly as he closed the closet he had been looking into.
"That was my conclusion, too. Clearly it is ours, based on the fact that we are the two that have access to it. I assume it has to do with our relationship, as it seems to be a bedroom for us both to share. Perhaps with neither of the functions our own rooms have." Logan said, walking back over to the bookshelf. Virgil seated himself in the middle of the bed, which seemed very comfortable and reminded him of how tired he had been not long ago.
"Okay, but we've been boyfriends for almost five weeks, why now?" Virgil wondered, then instantly had an idea why that might be and he wondered if he was going to stop feeling flustered any time soon this evening.
"Okay, actually, this might be on me." He said, running his hands over the soft covers.
"How so?" Logan joined him on the bed, having chosen a very thick book from the shelf, which he put on the nearest nightstand to where he was sitting.
"Well, I was kind of thinking about our rooms and the effects and, um, that it kinda sucked that we have to choose between too anxious and too logical if we wanna share a room... Guess the mindscape might have taken things into its own hands." He shrugged.
There wasn't really any way to know if he was right and his stupid gay yearning had been the reason, but it was the only explanation they had so far.
"Ah... Actually, so was I. Maybe that is why the room appeared, because this is something I have been thinking about before and that has never made a room appear until now." Logan said, his hand being gently placed atop of Virgil's.
"Seeing as yours and Remus' and Janus' rooms appeared by mine and Roman's and Patton's once you felt accepted by Thomas, I assume that the mindscape, in general, listens to us sides when it comes to the existence of our rooms and the placements of them. It makes me also assume that, both of us thinking about a room for us both gave the mindscape the permission it needed to create one, sort of." He said thoughtfully, fingers slipping between Virgil's.
"Guess it makes more sense than anything else." Virgil said, looking at Logan, contemplating slumping against him and pulling him to lie down with him on their bed, because celebrating having a room together by cuddling seemed the best way to go in his opinion.
The more he thought about it, the more obvious it was that this was definitely a room made for the two of them to share. Even the bookshelf seemed to contain both of their favorite books, and there was even some of Virgil's decorative spider webs in the corners of the room.
"You seem tired." Logan stated, squeezing his hand. Virgil yawned right at that moment, as if to let him know he was right.
"Mhm, was trying to sleep before the whole room thing. Have brushed my teeth and everything." He said, glancing down at his Nightmare Before Christmas pajamas that he had changed into over an hour ago. Then he looked back up at Logan, who looked pretty tired himself.
"So... Do you wanna sleep in here tonight?" He wondered, nervously watching Logan's expression to see what he thought of the suggestion. All he noticed was the corner of Logan's mouth twitching into a small smile.
"I would like that very much." Logan said and Virgil pulled his hand from Logan's to scoot back towards the headboard and push the covers back. Logan, who seemed to also be ready for bed, got up and took Virgil's hoodie off before joining him.
"This is also one way to find out if this room has any effect on us." Virgil said, held the covers up for Logan and then lied down comfortably by his boyfriend's side. If the room had some kind of effect he hoped it was good, otherwise this room was entirely pointless.
"I assume it won't have, as it is made with us both in mind. But it would be interesting to see if this room has an effect on the other sides and what that effect would be." Logan said, making a little wave with his hand to turn the lights off. Instead of the ceiling light there was the soft glow of fairy lights which were strung above the bed.
Even Virgil's unease in complete darkness was something the room had had in mind as it had been created.
"Mh, I guess. Remus probably won't mind being a lab rat." Virgil said. Whenever there was something Logan wanted to test or experiment with Remus usually volunteered, at least if there were any funny risks such as injuries or perks such as getting to see his own insides or anything else gross.
"By the way, uh, since this room has a doorway to the hallway with the rest of our rooms... the other sides are bound to notice its existence. Think they might have questions about it." Virgil said with a sigh, not entirely happy about the future interrogation that they would experience once the others figured out that he and Logan were more than friends at this point.
"Well... maybe it is about time we inform them about our relationship. They will find out eventually, anyway." Logan said and Virgil hummed, then reached out and wrapped an arm around Logan's waist, shuffling closer to him.
"Maybe." He said, feeling Logan wrap an arm around him too. Virgil supposed they could always tell the others to shut up and mind their business, but Logan was probably right. He usually was, annoyingly enough.
"It is a discussion to have tomorrow." Logan said, pressing a kiss to Virgil's cheek. "Right now this room is for only us."

Idk the idea just came to me and actually this idea about joint rooms appearing could be made into something very interesting
Anyway, the mindscape makes room for a lot of interesting ideas (lol pun not intended)
