Roman stared at the string in disgust. A red string, tied to everyone's wrist, connecting only to their soulmate. Sure, Roman loved a good fairy tale but he wasn't a moron liek everyone thought. Fairy tale weren't real. And this was real. Just because a string assigned him someone didn't mean he had to be with them. In fact, he'd rather not be. He wanted to fall in love without the whole "red string" and "soulmate" thing being. Maybe he was born in the wrong universe, who knows? It would definitely explain is distaste towards this life..

Roman kept looking at the string, and then at his desk. He had scissors there.. right? He'd never heard of what would happen if someone cut their string.. I mean, why would anyone want that? Why would someone give up their future love?

But.. out of every person in the world, Roman couldn't be the first- that was extremely unlikely. No. People would have had to already do that. What were the results?

Whatever. It didn't matter. All that mattered was getting rid of Fates plan. And then Roman would be free to be with whomever he pleased. As long as they consented too.. hopefully he wouldn't be alone. That would be even worse..

Roman finally reached out to his desk, too lazy to move out of his bed. He rummaged through a few things- he really needed the clean the place up- before he grabbed the scissors, finally.

But not until after he had accidentally cut himself shortly. Pulling his hand back and frowning at the small trickle of blood, he wondered why the scissors were so sharp all of a sudden. Eh. Not the.. issue here. Roman just let the drops of blood fall, it wasn't enough to cause any damage.

Bringing the scissors closer, Roman lifted his other hand and went to cut the string. What if it just went through? That wouldn't be fair, in Romans opinion. He didn't want or need it. What he needed was love- of his own choice- and getting rid of the string.

And so, without another thought.. he clipped it off and watched the string fade away with a tinge of cold washing through his arm for merely a moment.

With a satisfied smile, Roman rubbed his wrist, glad to be free of Fates plan.

Logan inhaled sharply, quickly turning to look at his left wrist as a burning ache ran through him. His.. string was.. fading? How? Why?! Did he do something?!

Panic flushed his mind as he watched the string disappear completely and he felt his wrist to see if it only turned invisible for... Some odd reason. That had to be it, right? Except no such luck. It seemed to be gone. As in gone. Gone gone. Not.. there.

Why?

Logan frowned, confused and worried. Did his soulmate.. die perhaps? Was it just a flaw? Was he cursed? He.. what happened?

His hands flew to his computer and started typing hurried. There had to be an explanation online, and after a few minutes.. he found something.

But what he found, he didn't like. The words ran through Logans mind as he tried to understand exactly what it meant. His soulmate- whoever they were- had decided to cut the string... And rid them both of each other. But.. why?! Did they know Logan and thought he was too.. something that they didn't like? That didn't make sense, Logan would have noticed surely! Unless they were judging him by his appearance and didn't want to meet him really.

That wasn't a.. pleasant thought. But it and been done, for whatever reason. Maybe they were in trouble.. or fell in love. But surely they knew of platonic soulmates too! Everyone did.

Logan sighed, his eyes slipping shut. All he had wanted for years was someone to talk to. And he had thought that would be his soulmate.

He had thought they would meet one day, that they would be unexpectedly surprised but awkwardly decide to give each other their numbers, to meet up and to know each other. He had thought they would find a shared love of reading, or of the stars, or.. something. Maybe they'd both come from strict parents. But all his daydreams would have to disappear along with the string, it seemed..

Opening his eyes again, Logan looked at his computer and closed a few tabs.

There would be no reason to look into date ideas of ways to get to know each other. There was no reason to look into soulmates anymore. He.. didn't have one.

But that was.. fine. It was true that not everyone needed someone. Maybe his soulmate had decided they didn't need anyone. So Logan wouldn't need anyone either.

How foolish of him.. to want to accept his feelings. How foolish of him.. to trust someone he didn't even know. So foolish. But everyone made stakes and you just had to learn and move on.

Logan glanced back at his wrist before moving over to grab his work books. He'd just gave to study more. No more feelings.

After all, the one time he wanted something that dealt with feelings... It was taken away. What a distasteful plan Fate had played on him..
