The Split

I stared up at Patton, my eyes wide as he held the book. He had me cornered and none of the other sides were around to help me get out of the situation I'd been trying to avoid. He was gonna split my personality.

"Patton, please, don't do this..." I begged. He ignored me and an excruciating pain erupted in my skull. My ears rang as I screamed. And then, I was gone.

"Please,...stop...no more..." Roman pleaded as he panted. Remus sobbed as the pair split in two slowly and painfully. Logan came sprinting down the hall, tackling Patton and putting the unsympathetic father figure in a choke hold when the pair were almost apart. Roman and Remus hugged their shared body together and tried to fuse back together, to no avail.

"Thomas did not need this, Morality. Leave them alone." Logan said, their glasses askew on their face as they straddled Patton and lectured him on what did and did not need to happen.

"But we can't have Creativity spitting facts and thoughts about murder!" Patton screamed, his skin turning green and slimy, making it harder for the logical side to keep their grip. Janus came soaring into view with Virgil at his side. The deceitful side hissed and picked up the half-split creativity side with the help of Virgil and high-tailed it out of there.

Janus slammed the door of his room as Virgil put the newly-made, conjoined twins on the bed. Logan came running down the hall and pelted into the room where all of the other sides with the exception of Patton were, locking the door as Patton began to pound on Janus's magically enhanced door.

"Are you okay?" Logan asked Virgil, Janus, and the creativity twins. Janus shrugged and Virgil puffed on his inhaler, trying not to have an emotional breakdown at the shock of the current situation. Roman and Remus just sobbed and did their best to hug onto each other as they leaned their heads together.

"Are you okay, Logan, that's the real question. You had to hold your other crush down in a choke hold as we got the prince and the duke out of there." Janus said as he rubbed the back of the twins.

"I am fine." Logan said with a dead face. Janus scoffed.

"Lies. My dear, do you want a hug?" Janus asked, holding his arms out. Logan collapsed into Janus's arms, tears finally appearing in their eyes as Janus comforted them softly. Virgil clung onto Janus's arm and cried as he put on his headphones. Virgil turned into a spider and Logan into a crow so they could share Janus better with Roman and Remus when Janus offered a hug to the creativity twins. The pair of conjoined twins gratefully accepted the hug from Janus, resting a head on either shoulder. Janus stretched his other four arms out so he could hold them with the bottom set, rub their back with the middle set, and pet their hair with the top set.

"It's all gonna be okay, my two boys." Janus said with motherly love coating his voice, as if he'd already decided that they were his children now. Roman and Remus sagged into Janus's embrace more, a content sigh leaving either boy's lips. Roman resisted the urge to flap his hand out of pure happiness to be loved before realizing that Remus was doing it and Janus didn't mind the extra movement. Then, of course, he did it without holding back, laughing as he did so.

"You boys are so beautiful and don't let Patton tell you otherwise." Janus said as he held the boys at arms' length.

"Yes, sir." the boys said in unison as Janus got up and put them down, conjuring his shelf. The shelf had been obviously rummaged through and Janus noticed that a book was missing.

"I'm guessing that you didn't do this, Logan...you're normally much neater." Janus sighed in annoyance. "I gotta get my spell book back from Patton before he does something worse. Eh...maybe later..." He made the shelf disappear before conjuring a male mannequin about the size of Roman and Remus with a broader chest and two necks and he began to sew.
