Game Call - No Ship
I know this is a Prinxiety and Logicality oneshot book, but I couldn't think of a way to build a proper relationship in something so small and I don't know why I dislike writing fast relationships, it always seems too unrealistic so I'll try to insert hints here.
If you met Patton Picani in the real world, you'd say you have just met the worlds' sweetest man. A vet in training, Patton was polite and lovable. If you met Patton Picani online, you'd have the most kick-ass healer on your team ever.
Fantasy Warlords was the biggest game ever, with avatars you could make from scratch completely, making everyone's' unique. The ability to create teams with other players lets you play with your friends or create the most OP team you can.
Patton's' avatar was a young male, rounded with freckles and glasses. He'd based it off himself, giving the character an angel race and a mage's' staff. He made this character four years ago. He is now level 184 and has played every single map with the worlds' best-ranked team.
A team consists of two to six players. Patton's' team had four. He played healer, obviously.
The tank was played by PrinceRoman. His character was a warrior that Roman always customized to look like the prince from Into The Woods. He'd been the one to share the most about himself to the team, Patton coming in a close second. Roman was into musical theatre but had to accept working as a drama teacher when he never got to Broadway. He'd been the one who'd started and named the team: Could Be Gayer.
Logic, or Logan, was the teams' wizard. He would often be seen closely behind Roman's' avatar, taking out lower level enemies with mostly earth attacks. It had taken a long time for Logan to share anything. He worked as a physics teacher in the same city as Roman, but not the same school. Logan also revealed an allergy to peanuts and a fondness to dogs.
Then there was the teams' ranger. Anxiety had barely shared any information about himself. He kept his mic on mute and had only recently told the others he was a gay cismale. Working as a sniper more than a ranger, he took out a surprising number of foes and had saved Roman from getting his ass whooped one too many times.
Now, Could Be Gayer were going to interact with each other without any violence involved. Patton let out a shaky breath as his brother, Emile, finished setting up the webcam before heading out on his date with Remy. Opening up Fantasy Warlords, Patton clicked on his team, opening it up. He waited for Roman to start the call at one pm.
Suddenly, a request popped up on the screen and Patton quickly clicked join with impressive speed. Risking a glance to the camera, he saw a light pop on. Diverting his eyes to the screen, Patton finally saw one of his best friends.
"Is that Patton I see before me?" Asked Roman, beginning to grin. "You look just like your avatar!"
"Roman!" Squealed Patton
Roman smiled widely. "Hello, Padre! I love your headphones, are those attachable puppy ears?"
Patton nodded vigorously. "I can take these off and put on cat ears too-"
Both men fell a silence as a message popped up on the screen: Logic is joining the call.
"Logan!" The two chorused as Patton watched his screen split into thirds, revealing a slim, spectacled face.
"Greetings, Patton and Roman." Logan smiled and it was adorable. "I must say, it is great to finally see you both, how are you?"
"I'm great!" Beamed Patton. "This is the best day of my life!"
Logan's' smile grew slightly. "Yes, I must admit, I have looked forward to this day since this was planned. Roman, salutations."
"Hey, nerd. I swear, I recognise you from that time my school held that science decathlon." Roman greeted.
Logan's' smirk turned triumphant. "We won."
Roman pouted. "Only because your students are nerds too!"
Another message appeared on screen. Anxiety is joining the call.
"Anxiety!" All men said before frowning. Anxiety was on mute, with his camera off.
"Uh, kiddo, I think your mic and camera are broken, we can't see you!" Patton laughed awkwardly.
Anxiety: yh, i know
Logan sighed, muttering something about grammar. Roman frowned. "But we want to see you!" He whined
Anxiety: Srry, it's just my roommates r in my room rn
Anxiety: i just dont wanna creep u all out, they're weird
"Anxiety, kiddo, it's fine if you don't wanna, you can just-"
Suddenly, the secretive players' mic was unmuted.
"Remus!" Someone snapped. "What the hell, man?!"
In the distant yet easily audible, someone said, "It's not my fault I see my brother sitting on your laptop screen, emo! What are you doing?"
A tiny buzz sounded in everyone's' headphones and Anxiety was shouting. "Remus! You brat! Give me back my headphones!"
"Quick, Janus, turn on the webcam!" Screamed the now distant voice of a man named Remus.
Roman hesitated, glancing about. "And now I can hear my brother coming from Anxiety's' screen. Is that just me?"
Anxiety's' camera was turned on and a young man with tattoos across half his face was leaning in front of the webcam.
Logan raised an unsure eyebrow. "A-Are you our friend?"
"Pfft, of course not!" Scoffed the tattooed man. "The emo is fighting Remus for his headphones back there, here, give me a second." The webcam began to move and focused in on two moving figures in the background.
One looked similar to Roman, only with a moustache clinging to his upper lip. He was holding a pair of black headphones and a mic high above his head, taunting a smaller, emo boy. The emo boy was scrawny and pale, jumping up and down to try to catch his headphones.
"Remus!" He pleaded. "Don't break them, give them back!" The emo, who they now assumed was Anxiety, reached up onto his tiptoes, desperately trying to snatch the headphones.
The tattooed man could be heard from behind the webcam as he cooed. "Oh, Virgil! I turned on your webcam for you!"
The emo spun around, eyes wide. "J-Janus! Fuck you, turn it off!"
"Nah." Teased the other.
Remus grabbed the emo from around the waist, carrying him over to the screen. Kicking, Anxiety was forced into his chair. He flipped Remus off, struggling to cover the webcam while the tattooed man stopped him easily. Now up close, Patton could see heavy makeup done carefully around his eyes. He had a black beanie which had scratchy, white writing saying 'My Chemical Romance', and a piercing on his bottom lip.
Patton quickly glanced at the other two on his screen. Logan looked mildly confused and Roman looked in love.
The Roman with a moustache smirked. "Say hi, virgin."
The emo stuck out his tongue, cheeks flushing. "Shut up, STD-ridden rat. Go and fuck Janus or something."
"A great idea. Can we use your bed?"
Anxiety gagged, frowning. "Ew, no! Go to your own room! Get out!" The headphones were chucked on his lap and they heard fading footsteps and then a door shut.
Glaring after his roommates, Anxiety glanced back at his screen and blushed further, turning to face his hands. "Sorry about that... My roommates are weird..."
"Remus is my twin brother, I never knew you roomed with him!" Commented Roman, looking slightly stunned. "Are you Virgil? Just you fit the description of tiny, wannabe emo."
The emo stuck out his tongue at Roman. "Shut up, princey. You look like a bigger pain than you are in-game!"
Roman pouted and Virgil giggled. Roman's' face turned red.
Patton beamed. "Hey, kiddo! It's great to see you!"
"Yes, Patton is correct, it's nice to finally know something about you." Logan smiled warmly and it made Patton's' heart flutter.
Virgil smirked, about to say something when a loud bang made him jump and Remus started running around his room screaming. "He's gonna kill me!"
"I'll kill you too, get outta my room!"
