Work Together (Anxiety x Logic)
Okay so this is the one that's similar to Competitive, but with analogical. It's also 5AM, but is this going to stop me from finishing this? We'll see lmao
Every single year that Logan had lived in his house his next door neighbor, Virgil, competed with their neighbor across the street from them. When Christmas time came around almost everyone in the neighborhood was excited to see what decorations the two would put up, trying to beat the other. On Christmas Day their neighbors all met up, voting on which one had the best decorations.
For the last three years, Roman had been the winner. It was becoming incredibly annoying, mostly because Roman was already frustratingly arrogant, and when he won his ego only grew. His constant bragging was driving Logan mad, and he hated the thought of him winning yet another year. If he won, the entire neighborhood would continue to hear how much better he was for the rest of the year. Again.
So, Logan devised a plan. Surely if he worked together with Virgil they could both pay for the decorations, resulting in them having better things than Roman could afford, and being neighbors they would have even more space to decorate. Logan was willing to help do anything as long as it helped to shut Roman up.
Virgil was confused and surprised when Logan showed up one day to propose this idea. He never really talked to his neighbors, and he was always positive they liked Roman a lot more than him. Roman was outgoing, positive, and Virgil thought he was the only one who actually found him to be slightly annoying. Yet, here Logan was, offering to help him finally beat Roman for the first time in years. He definitely wasn't going to miss this opportunity, both so he could witness Roman's shock at losing and because he wanted to know more about Logan. He seemed to think very similarly to him. After agreeing to the plan the two set up a date to meet up, planning to go out together to get decorations they knew would win.
Logan didn't think he would end up having as much fun hanging out with Virgil as he did, but when the time came for them to set up their decorations he had more fun than he had ever had in his life. The two of them joked and laughed, helping each other when it was needed and laughing it off when something went wrong. They had spent most of the day setting things up, and they had a lot done.
Glancing over at Virgil, Logan noticed him shiver and pull his jacket tighter around himself. It was only then that he realized just how cold it really was, frowning as he realized they would have to stop soon. Then his frown disappeared as he realized that that didn't necessarily mean they had to stop talking.
"It's really cold out," Logan called over to Virgil, who was on a ladder to hang some lights.
"That's a great observation, Logan. Woulda never guessed it'd be cold during winter." Virgil replied, not even looking down at him. Logan laughed quietly, shaking his head.
"I meant that we should probably take a break. Would you like to come over for a while?" He suggested, deciding to add on that he had hot chocolate that they could drink while they talked. This seemed to get the others attention, climbing off the ladder after finishing what he had been doing.
"Lead the way." He smirked, gesturing ahead of them. Soon the two of them were on Logan's couch, both with mugs of hot chocolate, staying silent for a while and appreciating the warmth inside. They hadn't realized just how cold it had been until they finally got back in.
"You think we'll win?" Virgil asked after a while of sitting in silence, looking over at Logan. Logan frowned, shrugging his shoulders.
"It does seem likely that with the two of us working together we should do better. So I would hope so, but who knows? Perhaps Roman will come up with something better at the last minute." He answered, and Virgil groaned.
"God, I don't think I could take it if he won again. Really, for one year I'd like to be able to live without Roman constantly saying something about being better than me any time he sees me. I don't even want to win so I can brag about it! I just want him to keep his mouth shut for a year." Virgil sighed, and Logan nodded in silent agreement. He understood-he wasn't sure he could handle another year of hearing them both arguing at random points of the day while he was trying to work.
Virgil made a comment about something unrelated to Roman, and the two began to talk about other things. They talked until Virgil cut himself off with a yawn, noticing just how late it was.
"Oh," he mumbled, covering his mouth and fighting off another yawn. "I should probably get home. Are we gonna put the rest of the stuff up tomorrow?"
"As long as you are not busy, that works for me." Logan agreed, taking Virgil's mug and his own into the kitchen, coming back a moment later as Virgil got ready to leave. "I suppose I will see you then. Hope the rest of your night is well."
"Yeah, yours too." Virgil shot him a grin. "After all this is over and we win, we should hang out more. You're a pretty cool dude." Before Logan could mutter out a quiet 'thanks' Virgil was out the door, heading back to his own home. Logan smiled to himself, looking forward to seeing his neighbor again the next day.

The day had finally come for the competition between Roman and Virgil. Everyone had already learned that Logan was helping Virgil, and while they expected Roman to say they were being unfair he actually didn't seem to care. He was so overly confident that he simply told them it would make his victory all the more impressive.
Roman, Virgil, and Logan were all standing together in front of a crowd of people, anxiously waiting to find out who had won. Patton, their neighbor who lived across from Logan was the one who was taking peoples votes. He was going to be the one to finally tell them the winner.
As they were waiting, Logan happened to notice Virgil's hands were shaking. He remembered from a random conversation they'd had previously that being in crowds of large people made him nervous, especially when he was the center of attention. As discreetly as possible, Logan reached down to hold Virgil's hand in an attempt to calm him slightly. It seemed to work a little, Virgil turning to offer s small, grateful smile.
"And the winner this year is..." Patton began, grinning excitedly and pausing to make things more dramatic. Logan felt Virgil squeeze his hand nervously, everyone seeming to hold their breath as they waited for the reveal.
"Virgil and Logan!" Patton said at last, excited clapping coming from those around them. Virgil finally could breathe again, laughing happily as he registered what he said.
"We... we did it!" He said, turning to look at Logan. "We actually did it! We won!"
"We did," Logan nodded, an excited smile on his lips. He didn't expect it when Virgil jumped up to hug him, stumbling back slightly. Catching his balance he chuckled as he hugged back, enjoying the happy smile on Virgil's face. He was definitely shocked when Virgil looked up at him, quickly leaning in and leaving a kiss on his lips. It was over quickly, Virgil's cheeks a dark red as he realized what he had done.
"S-sorry, I just-I got so excited and-" Logan cut him off by pressing his lips to Virgil's a second time, smiling down at him.
"Don't worry about it," he mumbled, and Virgil's happy grin quickly returned.
"Good job, you two." Roman grinned, surprising the both of them. They quickly separated from their hug, though Logan did not release Virgil's hand from his grip. "But don't think I'll let this happen again next year! I'll even get someone to help me, like you did... Patton!"
Roman turned to the bubbly man that lived next door to him, Patton jumping at the unexpected shout. He turned to look at Roman, smiling, cheeks pink. "Yes, Roman?"
"You'll help me with decorations next year, right? Like Logan did with Virgil! It's only fair that we have an equal amount of people going against each other." Roman questioned, and Patton's grin widened.
"Oh, of course!" He beamed, bounding excitedly. "I would love to help you!"
Virgil and Logan turned away as the two of them carried on talking, turning back to look at each other with shy smiles. "So..." Virgil began awkwardly, unsure of how to address what had happened between them.
"Would you like to go out for coffee, sometime?" Logan suggested, sighing in relief when Virgil nodded quickly. They both laughed, glad that nothing seemed to change even after their kiss. In fact, they both seemed even more comfortable with each other. Needless to say, both of them were happy that they decided to work together.
I think I like this one more than the other one. I hope you all like it, cause I think it's adorable. And somehow I don't hate my ending this time??? It's not the best but it's not bad
My sister came in here in the middle of me writing this and I didn't wanna talk bc.... I just don't and I realized that the song I was listening to was at a part where it said "go away, get out of here" so I played it really loudly and she got mad at me lmao
And now it's 7AM and I am exhausted, so I'll get off to get some sleep now aha. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this. *Virgil's giant snowman inflatable suddenly explodes into ring pops, feeding the entire neighborhood*
Thank you for the suggestion. ^•^ Take care of yourselves. I love you guys. Bye-Bob
