Trick Or Treat (Logic x Anxiety x Morality x Prince
Requested. Platonic LAMP, au where they are kids. (Please know that if you leave a request right now it honestly just depends on if I like it or not, bc if I don't I won't write it, sorry. I'm trying not to put any extra pressure on myself, so if I don't feel like working on something on here I just can't do it, and I hope you guys understand!!! I've just got too much going on)
"Come on dude, it's not that scary!" One of Virgil's friends said, trying to convince him to follow them. Virgil looked up at the house they were going to walk up to, hands shaking. They had a big yard with lots of very scary decorations, and he didn't want to go.
"Wh-why can't I just wait down here for you guys? Then we can go over to the next house together." He suggested, looking over at his friend nervously. Virgil saw him rolling his eyes, feeling embarrassed at being so scared.
"If you're going to be that much of a wimp all night you should just go home." He said, starting to walk away from Virgil.
"No, wait!" Virgil said, rushing to follow him. "I'll go, just d-don't leave me behind..."
Virgil followed behind his friend, staying mostly behind him as they walked. Virgil eyed all the decorations as they passed them, feeling like at any moment something bad was going to happen. He gripped his candy bag tightly, trying to stop his shaking hands, and holding back his tears. He didn't want to be made fun of by his friends, and he really didn't want to walk home all by himself.
As they got closer to the house Virgil felt like maybe things would be okay. They were so close to the door, and now all they had to do was ring the doorbell and then go home. He felt relieved when they finally got to the front porch, his friend ringing the doorbell and stepping back to wait.
Immediately after the doorbell rang a loud scream was heard from the hide of the house, along with the sound of a chainsaw. A man appeared suddenly, rushing towards him and his friend. Virgil screamed, jumping back and taking off back down their yard and towards the street. He heard his friend laughing behind him as he ran, feeling embarrassed once again for being scared but still needing to get away.
He stopped running once he got to the sidewalk, heart pounding in his chest and his breathing sporadic. He turned back only to see if his friend was with him, seeing that he had already walked off with the rest of their friends to another house. They were leaving him.
Virgil felt hot tears streaming down his red cheeks, panicking even more at the realization that they weren't going to come back for him. He was going to have to find his own way home, in the dark, where anybody could be waiting to jump out at him again. He whimpered in fear just thinking about it, hands coming up to cover his face as he sank to the ground.
Why? He asked himself. Why did he think it was a good idea to go trick or treating with them? He had just wanted to have a few friends to hang out with, but it seemed obvious now that those kids were not his real friends. Now he was alone, feeling unsafe and like he had nowhere to go.
"Are you okay?" Virgil heard someone ask, jumping when a hand touched his arm. He pulled his hands away from his face to look up at whoever was talking to him, worried that he was going to find another person in a creepy costume. Instead he found a boy around his age, dressed up as a black cat and looking at him worriedly.
Virgil slowly shook his head to answer his question, sniffling and wiping at his eyes. The boy frowned, holding out a hand to help him up.
"Well, if you tell me what's wrong me and my friends can try to help!" The boy said, pointing behind him at two other boys their age. One was dressed up in an oversized prince costume, and the other looked like he was a teacher. "My name's Patton, by the way. This is Roman and Logan."
"I'm Virgil," he mumbled quietly, looking at each of them carefully. "My... my friends left me behind."
"Was it on accident?" The one dressed like a teacher, Logan, asked. Virgil slowly shook his head no.
"I... I got scared, because someone jumped out at me. They told me if I was going to be wimpy they were going to make me walk home by myself." He said softly, fidgeting with his hands nervously. The first kid, Patton, reached out to take his hand comfortingly.
"They don't sound like very good friends then. Why don't you trick or treat with us?" He offered, Virgil looking surprised.
"I... you'd let me? I-I might get too scared again..." Virgil admitted, looking away and expecting them to change their minds.
"Isn't that the point of Halloween?" Logan spoke up, Virgil looking over at him. "It's supposed to make you scared, but if you have good friends they'll stay with you and help if it gets too scary."
"Exactly!" Roman grinned at Virgil. "Everyone gets scared sometimes, even the bravest of princes! It's normal, and we'll help you through it."
Virgil felt his eyes burn with tears once again, getting to his feet and smiling a wobbly smile. "Th-thanks..." he mumbled nervously, feeling happy that he was found by these three kids.
"There's no reason to thank us! Halloween should be fun for everybody. Now c'mon, we should keep going before everyone starts running out of candy!" Patton said, still holding onto Virgil's hand as he started to walk forward. Virgil walked with him, still smiling as the other two joined in walking beside of them.
Later on that night when the quartet encountered another especially scary house, Virgil stopped walking and trailed behind them. It didn't take long for them to notice, the other three turning around to see him.
"What's wrong?" Patton asked him. "Are you starting to get tired?"
"N-no, it's just..." Virgil looked up to the house, hands starting to shake again as he thought about walking up there. The other three followed his eyes, realizing quickly what was wrong.
"If you don't want to walk up there, I could stay with you while they go." Logan offered. Patton nodded his head quickly.
"Yeah, and if you want me and Roman can take your bags up there so you can still get candy." He said, Roman quickly agreeing. Virgil felt relieved knowing that they weren't going to judge him, smiling to himself. He thought about it for a moment, looking down at his feet.
"I... I kind of want to try to do it..? I feel like maybe I'll be able to this time... b-but I'm not sure." He said, frowning. He looked back up kind of expecting them to be feeling impatient, but they were all waiting for him to decide.
"If you wanna go, we'll still stay right beside you! And if you wanna turn back, we'll make sure you don't have to go alone." Patton assured him, and Virgil smiled once again. He agreed to walk up, and just as they said they stuck right by his side.
Around halfway up the yard one of the decorations made a noise, and Virgil jumped. His heart beat faster, and Logan asked him if he wanted to go back. Virgil hesitated, but said he wanted to go forwards anyways. They all made it to the door together, got their candy, and started their trek back down. Virgil sighed in relief, smiling as he looked over at Patton, Logan, and Roman. He knew he couldn't have done it without them, and he was glad that they were there.
By the time the four got tired and had to go home, Virgil wasn't sure how he was going to get to his. He assumed that they would all have to go their separate ways, and he didn't really look forward to having to walk home on his own. That wasn't at all what actually happened.
"Virgil, would you like for us to take you home first?" Patton asked, looking over at him as they walked. "Me and Logan we're going to walk Roman to his house too, because he lives a little bit farther than us. Me and Logan live right next door to each other, so we were going to go last. So we don't have to worry about anyone going alone!"
"Oh," Virgil said. "I... yeah, I would like that."
The other three had no problems with his answer, asking where he lived so they knew where to go and then switching to an entirely different conversation. Virgil for the most part just listened to them talking, occasionally answering when they asked him questions. He was glad they remembered to include him.
The group arrived at Virgil's house soon enough, and the closer they got the more disappointed he felt. He knew that after tonight his old 'friends' wouldn't want to spend anymore time with him, and although he knew they weren't really great friends he also knew that meant he would most likely end up on his own. He had a lot more fun with Patton, Logan, and Roman than he had ever had with any of them. He just wished that this night had lasted longer.
"Hey, Virgil," Patton gained Virgil's attention as they stopped right outside his house. Virgil turned to face him, expecting them to say their goodbyes and leave. "You should hang out with us again sometime!"
"I-what..?" Virgil asked softly, frowning. "Really? You'd... want me to?"
"Of course!" Roman agreed quickly. "We had fun spending time with you."
Logan nodded in agreement as well, Virgil smiling. He hid it behind his hands, trying hard not to seem too excited. "I would like that..."
"Awesome!" Patton grinned. He told Virgil that they were planning to hang out again the following day, and that they would come over to get him so he could join them. Not too long after they all left, needing to walk back to their houses before it was too late.
When they left Virgil couldn't keep himself from smiling anymore, grinning widely as he made his way inside. It was hard to believe that a night that had started off so horribly had ended so well, but it had and Virgil was sure that it was the best night of his entire life. Because finally, finally, he had found some real friends.
Ahhh, I hope this was good!!! I thought this was such a cute idea, so I hope I did it well and that it's what you were looking for. ^•^
So like, I know I'm updating a lot even tho I said I was gonna not be on much this week but like...... I am taking a break this week from most of my responsibilities, so if I'm writing it isn't because I have to, but because I want to. I feel like there's a big difference between the two lol. I am also hanging out with my family while I'm here, cause I am gonna be leaving my sister and dad again after this week but in my free time when they're doing other things I will write for fun sometimes. I just haven't had the time to work in this book very much, but for this week I do so I'm having fun writing oneshots again.
