"Hi is this Logan Pearson?" The voice on the other end of Logan's phone asked. The stoic man sat up in his recliner and set his book down.

"Yes it is. May I ask who you are?"

"My name is Doctor Adams. I'm with the Mary Ann Hospital staff. I have you listed as the emerging contact of Patton Sanders." The man said. Logan perked up at hearing about the hospital.

"What happened?" Logan demanded quickly. He was already standing and putting his shoes on.

"I'm sorry to inform you that Mr. Sanders was admitted to the hospital an hour ago after a car hit him on Main Street."

"AND I'M ONLY BEING TOLD NOW?!" Logan yelled. He hurriedly grabbed his keys and started his car.

"We had to stabilize him first. Please calm down. We request you come to the hospital to sign some things about Mr. Sanders medical history and to check up on him. Is now a good time?" Dr. Adams asked.

"I'm already on my way." Logan hung up the phone and focused on driving to the hospital. The many houses he passed made him want to cry as he thought about when he was younger with Patton and something similar had happened. He knew he needed to tell Patton now. Who knows how close he is to losing the love of his life to another car incident.

When he got to the hospital he rushed into the front lobby and pounded the front desk. "Where is Patton Sanders?"

"He's in room A106 but unless you are family you can't go up there yet." The lady behind the desk squeaked. Logan ignored her and ran to the room specified. He opened the door and almost broke down when he saw his best friend unconscious covered in bandages and tubes. A doctor was standing over him clicking on one of the machines. He turned when he noticed Logan standing there.

"Pearson right?" Logan nodded. The doctor paused what he was doing and walked closer to Logan. "I'll leave you for a few minutes while I go get some paperwork." Logan nodded again and watched the doctor leave before rushing and kneeling beside the bed.

Patton felt so sore when he regained his thoughts. He couldn't move and his voice didn't feel like working so he just sat stuck in his mind. He remembered walking to the shop to buy cookies but he doesn't remember getting there. He hears the screeching of tires on pavement and the headlights that made him freeze in fear. The impact is brief before Patton isn't awake anymore. Now Patton is trapped in his mind fighting off pain and sleepiness. Then he hears humming that he's sure isn't coming from him. He can barely make out the words but he tries to focus on them.

Patton strains to wake up to see who's singing above him but it hurts his head to try.

It's Logan, Patton realizes. His voice sounds so broken up but full of love. Patton wonders if Logan is singing to him. Are the words Logan singing directed at him. He tries again to wake up so he could be there with Logan, who sounds so upset like he's on the edge of crying. Patton wants to hold Logan to stop him from crying but the pain holds him back. He feels Logan's hand hold onto his own. Patton knows this is what love is. He wants to wake up to share his love with Logan. It feels impossible to move though. Eventually, the song ends and the hand disappears slowly as if reluctantly. Patton listens in to what was being said away from him.

"...come Mr. Pearson... papers.... Mr. Sanders will wake up eventually..."

"...okay... love... Patton..."

Patton doesn't hear everything they say but understands enough to know Logan was leaving him now. He desperately tries to ask Logan to stay with him but it's no use. His voice won't work.
