Side Note: Hi, I'm alive. I managed to write this rather quickly and I'm proud of myself!

However, this may be the last Sanders Sides for awhile? Unless I get more motivation when the new episode comes out! (not that my updates were ever consistent lmao)

I have just recently realized I couldn't write, not because of writers block, but writers burn out with Sanders Sides. To be fair it's the only fandom I've been writing for for two years-

But I am writing again! Just not for this fandom.

The song above is pretty much what I had on repeat while writing this! And I got it from the animatic, which is for Good Omens (Hi yes I'm obsessed)

That being said I am going to be making a Good Omen's oneshots book, it'll mostly be ineffable husbands or just no ship. Though, there may be some of ineffable bureaucracy if I feel like giving them Happiness. Dunno.

It should be posted by the time I post this oneshot! I'm excited to share what I've been working on for like two weeks!

I will be back to write Sanders Sides stuff, and unlike my other fandoms I've gotten burn out from, I'm not going to delete this book. I'm really proud of the ones I still have posted. So at least there's a way for me to come back to it!

Also yes I saw the bloopers and THAT THING AT THE END, THOMAS WHAT ARE YOU DOINNNNGGGG

I hope you guys aren't too upset, and if you're in the fandom I hope you'll check the other oneshots out!

Without further ado, enjoy this angst fest!

The streets were stained blood red. The beautiful stones that paved the walkways were now covered with bodies of the kingdoms citizens. The sight made Roman sick to his stomach. He knew his brother was twisted, but he never knew he could go that far.

He gagged, before covering his mouth. Hoping there was no one around to hear the noise. No one from his brother's armada anyways. Logan glanced out from behind the building they were using as shelter. Checking to see if it was safe.

People were being dragged away, kicking and screaming. Their begs to live would haunt the group for the rest of their lives. Which, may not be for much longer. "Was this an attack from the neighboring kingdom? The one ruled by the sorcerer?" Roman asked quietly.

Logan and Patton shook their heads, "This was our own people, your brother and his boyfriend." Logan whispered. Patton nodded, "once we get out of the kingdom's walls, we must run to the neighboring kingdom. Virgil will give us sanctuary." He glanced over noticing none of the members of the rebellion were around. "Now!"

The stench of blood and internal organs spilling from the fleshy confines were too much for Patton. He threw up, tears falling down his face once again. Logan quickly brought him up to run again. Gripping his forearm and practically dragging him.

Roman tried to keep his eyes ahead, not wanting to see what his kingdom had become in front of him. The gates were all that mattered now. He needed to run. He was lucky, he was so so lucky. His brother wanted him dead.

He always said he wanted to be king.

"But! But! I wanna be king!" The younger of the siblings whined. He and Roman had been playing in the garden. This was so long ago, Roman had forgotten what they had been like as kids. Remus was pouting, his arms crossed with a huff, "You were king last time!"

Roman had only stuck his tongue out at the other, "I'm gonna be king!" He said holding up the fake crown, and placing it on his head. "Y'know, cause I'm the oldest!"

Remus had scrunched up his face, only getting angrier and angrier as the argument had progressed. It ended with Roman being pushed into the dirt, Remus scrambling for the crown. "I'm going to be king! I'm going to be king!"

Their parents had told them that it was only a game. And they needed to be fair to one another. They were forced to apologize, both of them.

It isn't a game this time.

As the three of them reached the gates, they struggled to force them open. Logan even using his power to grant the others extra strength. Training his powers for his whole life now made much more sense.

"There! Get them!" A voice called from behind. The three turned and looked, seeing a man standing, a bloody blade clutched tightly in his hand. Scars dug deep into the left side of his face. One of his eyes hazy, blinded. "The king wants them!"

They only redoubled the force on the gate, forcing it open just barely enough for them to fit through. Logan forced the gate shut behind him before the man could grab them. The man latched onto the bars, hissing insults and demands for others to help him. To kill them.

The woods were not much of a better place to be running. The harsh winter left bushes as sharp twigs that tore their clothes, scratching them as they ran through them. They didn't stop. They had to keep running.

The chill of the wind flowed through their lungs, causing their breath to shorten. Patton's breath caught, he doubled over once again, coughing and hacking, "I-I! I can't!" He stuttered through his noises.

Logan shook his head, "We have to keep running, Patton! We aren't safe!" He practically yelled, his lungs burned just as badly, but he couldn't stop. The adrenaline was all that was keeping him going, if it wore off he would collapse.

Roman didn't say anything, quickly rushing back to the other two, and scooping Patton up against his chest. "I'm not leaving you. Come on!" He yelled as he ran with the other man clinging to him. Logan nodded and continued running.

"ALL HAIL THE KING! ALL HAIL THE KING!"

The voices of those in the rebellion echoed throughout the expanse of land around the surrounding area. A chill of fear crawled up Roman's spine, but he could do nothing to help this. He had to get them to safety.

Once they reached another pair of gates, the sorcerer began screaming, "Sanctuary! Sanctuary! There's been a rebellion in our kingdom!" The guard at the gate's eyes widened, "King Roman. Please, we will alert the king immediately."

The gate was opened for them, and they were let inside. They practically collapsed against the stone wall. Blood dripped from the gashes along their legs, their bodies shaking from the cold and the shock at the horror they had just witnessed.

Roman was hazy. His eyes unfocused, only seeing a figure in a dark hood running over to them. Calling the three of their names. The weight in his arms was removed, as he tried to make out the features of the hooded man, his eyes closed, consuming his world in darkness.

When he opened his eyes, the sunlight shined through a rather large window. His entire body ached, he heard footsteps walking around the room, before a cool, damp cloth was placed on his head.

"Oh, you're awake… I'll inform his majesty." The voice sounded, calming. Quiet. He barely got to see who the person was before he had left the room. He tried to sit up but only cried out in pain and ended up falling back onto the bed once more.

Roman looked around the room, noticing two other beds in the room. Resting on one was Patton, the other, Logan. Both of them were still asleep, but properly bandaged up, and incredibly comfortable as it seemed from how deep of a sleep they were in.

He let out a breath, they were safe. They were safe for now. They had survived. His kingdom was long gone, but he still had the people closest to him. That was enough for now.

He silently promised to himself, that he will get his kingdom back. One day.
