Almost two decades of conflict between two kingdoms... Tensions would be high, blood would be spilled, those living in the kingdoms would stay in constant fear of a random attack. That's what was to come soon enough...
Those two kingdoms are for the moment, one, and everything is at peace. The most important thing to the king at the moment is making sure that the two little four year olds playing in the back yard, Prince Roman and his friend Logan are happy and aren't hurt in any way.
"Your majesty." One of the guards said to him quietly as not to alarm the children. "Mmhm?" Thomas asked, giving the attention to the guard. "We have heard rumors of a group planning to rebel against you..." Thomas' eyes widened. "Do you have anything... Factual on this group?" He asked.
"Not much, but we know the suspected leader of them.. Is the father of the one your boy is playing with at the moment." The guard spoke with a gesture to the children. Thomas froze, unsure on how to take this... Rebel against him? For what purpose? Had he done something wrong to warrant people doing so?
He shook his head dispelling those thoughts, they were just rumors... There was nothing for certain, but the thought of Roman's innocent seeming friend, maybe having something to do with the kingdoms downfall in the future? Or killing the heir to the throne... He couldn't risk it.
After that day Roman and Logan were not allowed to see on another, Thomas hated being harsh or strict, especially since he was limiting his child's friends, but he just needed to do what was best.
Sure enough, the rumors were true... As three weeks later, on the Prince's birthday. The rebellion happened, it was not a peaceful one of course... Innocent peoples houses were burned, those who tried to stop the rebellion were injured or even killed.
Roman was asleep in his bedroom, unaware of the conflict happening just outside the castle doors, also unaware of the deep blue rose sprouting on his wrist. The same shade of blue, that covered the rebels flags.
The rebellion was small in numbers, but they had many weapons, that allowed them to wreck the havoc that they did. Eventually they were driven out of the kingdom, where the guards lost track, and were unable to capture a single one to hold accountable for everything...
When Roman woke up, the castle was dead quiet, which was rare, and it sort of scared him. He looked out his window and what he saw scarred him. The cabins on the outskirts of the kingdom all slowly burning down, and a trail of blood leading up the castle steps, corpses scattered across the barren and burnt land.
That sight never left him, even after everything had been cleaned, the families had been consoled as best they could've been. It never left him. Soon enough, in a few years, another kingdom was built, ruled by those who had been rebels... Immediately war broke out between the two kingdoms...
Thomas never wanted to raise Roman very strictly... But at this point... He didn't have a choice. He didn't want to risk losing his child ever. Roman grew up, despising the color tainting the flower on his wrist mostly due to his own means and not being taught too by Thomas.
He just sees it as the color that means people are dying... When soldiers arrive with that color on... It means nothing but death... That's what his mind associated with it anyway. All the memories of his childhood friend were forgotten. 'The Other Prince' was all his old friend was referred too at that point, and Roman didn't care to know who this other prince was...
Now, the Prince is 29, the king has recently passed and it is his job to take over the throne... Receiving word from their enemy kingdom that their king has passed as well, and the other prince wishes to hopefully end this feud. Roman sighed, as he reread the letter.
"Maybe you shouldn't go?" Patton, his royal advisor suggested. Roman shook his head "This war has gone on long enough Patton... Dad would want it to end... Let's hope the other prince has the same view as I do..." He said as he handed the letter back to Patton.
"I will be back before tomorrow's nightfall, if I have not yet returned and you have received no word from me... Assume they had me killed." He spoke dully. "B-But your majesty!-" "This has to happen this way, if I show up with enforcements it will appear as though I am provoking hostility. I have my sword and you know I am well trained in the art of how to use it... I shall be alright Patton..." Roman promised.
Patton sighed "Alright, sire..." He said. About an hour later Roman left on horseback, towards the kingdom that had plagued him for the majority of his life. He was trying to push the uncertainties to the back of his mind, he was hopeful that the other prince saw this as the conflict that they didn't wish to inherit with the kingdom, but he was still unsure during the ride.
It took quite awhile, about four hours to even arrive. When he did he was immediately ushered inside the kingdoms gates, not even asked to get off of his horse or to hand over his sword, which he wasn't trying to hide. The entire kingdom seemed darker, the stones used for the barrier wall were almost black, and those inside did not wear bright or frivolous colors not like those residing in Roman's kingdom.
Once they arrived at the steps leading up to the castle, which almost mirrored the ones back at his kingdom. He got off of his horse, allowing it to be taken to the stables by the two guards who had escorted him in. "Prince... Roman is it?" A man just a tad bit shorter than him asked as he walked down the steps and over to him.
Roman nodded. "Yes, you are?" He asked, noticing the lack of any sign of royalty on the man's black and purple cloak, made it obvious that this was not the prince. "Virgil Addams, I am the Prince's assistant." He introduced himself as he bowed. Roman acknowledged his etiquette with a small head nod.
"Does this mean the prince is not going to meet with me?" He asked. Virgil shook his head. "No, he will of course be meeting with you, he is just inside and sent me out here to escort you inside... So that the guards could go back to their posts. Now, please do come with me" he said as he turned and began walking inside.
"I am grateful that both you and him wish for this stupid conflict to end... The king was adamant in keeping the war going until they we had won, but as first off, that never happened, and secondly it is no longer his rule so we are wanting to end that very quickly and peacefully." Virgil explained as they walked through the rather small castle, in comparison to his own anyway.
Soon enough, they were in the throne room, where The other Prince sat, looking intrigued as he glanced at Roman before glancing to Virgil and moving his hand off to the side to signal for Virgil to leave. Virgil nodded, bowed then left.
Roman politely bowed. "It's nice to officially meet you..." He said, The other prince stood, now they were both face to face with their arms behind their backs, standing up straight. "To you as well, I am Prince Logan, though soon it shall be king." He stated as he also bowed. Roman nodded "Ah, the same is true for my title." He replied.
"Shall we move to my study to get the peace treaty underway?" Logan suggested. "Yes, that seems like a good idea..." Roman said. Logan nodded and turned to leave, but was stopped as Roman grabbed onto his arm. "What on earth are you-" he stopped himself as he noticed the deep blue rose on Roman's right wrist.
"I... Apologize... But... I believe... I saw your flower glowing for a moment." Roman stated letting his arm go and taking a step back. Logan looked at him, a bit confused but mainly just waiting for Roman to make eye-contact once again as he held his left wrist which had the red rose on it.
And though it was incredibly quick, Roman made eye contact....
Both of their roses emitting a faint glow.
"Oh.... Well then..." Logan said as he cleared his throat. "This appears to be more than just a peace treaty meeting now..." He said. Roman nodded "I suppose so... We should take care of the treaty first... Then... Maybe you could come visit my kingdom for a few days?" He suggested. Logan thought for a moment, "I will see if Virgil would be alright with running the kingdom for a few days... And if he is... Then yes..." Roman smiled "Alright then." He said.
Let's just say the peace treaty was easily written up and accepted, ending the war and restoring peace, to the two kingdoms, they stayed as separate however, well that was until Logan and Roman got married, bringing the two back together again.
