(Prinxiety) seeking comfort

Roman huffed and turned on his side taking a good look at the clock beside his bed, it was already midnight and he still couldn't sleep comfortably. He felt like he was missing something, but what?

He huffed once more and kicked the blankets off of him, he sat up and sat crisscrossed on his bed trying to think of a way to tire himself out, he could always go to the imagination and fight dragon witches, but he was in no shape to fight at the moment. He just wanted, comfort. He frowned and looked around his room, he didn't own any plushies, even if he did that probably still wouldn't help him with seeking comfort.

There was always an option to watch a Disney movie, that always seemed to make him happy, but knowing that it would only harm his eyes he slumped his shoulders and sighed, what else was there? He remembered once walking in the common room finding both Patton and Logan sleeping on the couch together. Roman thought the position the couple was in looked uncomfortable and wondered how in the world had they managed to fall asleep like that. They were so...close.

Almost inhumanly close, they were clinging onto each other as if dear life depended on it and that confused the prince, was it really that comfortable? Sleeping together and holing onto each other both practically sharing each others breath? As much as Roman hated the thought he fantasied about him and Virgil sleeping like that, Roman would hold him just for the comfort, and Virgil would wrap his arms around his torso nuzzling his face in his chest.

And they would just sleep, nothing mushy, no kisses or teases, just sleep like nothing is wrong with the world around them.

The sound of his door creaking open shook him from his trance and he turned his head surprised see Virgil tiredly trudging into his room, the short trait dragged his feet as he walked over to the prince and stopped right in front of him. “Everything okay Virgil?” Roman asked curiously. “It's too cold in my room,” Virgil replied. “can...” he paused hesitating with his sentence. “Can I sleep with you? Just for tonight?” He asked in a low murmur.

Roman felt a smile tug at his lips. “O-of course, come on.” He patted the empty space beside him, but instead of lying down Virgil climbed into Roman's lap and wrapped his thin arms around his neck burying his face in his shoulder. “You're warmer.” he stated and gave the royal a small squeeze. “You could've just asked if you wanted to cuddle.” Roman chuckled and wrapped his arms around the frail male.

Virgil shrugged and let his eyes slide shut, breathing in the princes scent he calmed down and drifted back to sleep. Roman lied back down and pulled the blanket over them, he hugged Virgil tight, but not as tight where it would be uncomfortable for the other, and pressed a kiss on his forehead before he himself drifted to sleep. He had finally found his comfort.

The next day when Roman woke he was happy to see Virgil sleeping soundly in his arms, and it was then that he finally realized why Logan and Patton slept together. It was amazing, sleeping with another person, sharing each others warmth, being able to sleep happily knowing that there is someone there with you, it's very comforting. And that wasn't even the best part.

Not at all.

The best part was waking up to see the person he loved most next to him, Roman ran his hand through Virgil's hair and pulled him closer against his chest, Virgil pulled the blanket closer to his body and curled up against Roman's chest his cheek pressed against him and his mouth slightly open ajar. Why hadn't he thought of this sooner? Roman questioned himself, perhaps he was embarrassed to seek comfort from Virgil, his boyfriend, because he didn't to be a burden to him. Or maybe, he wanted to always seem brave to Virgil that asking for help was too shameful to him.

But that didn't matter now, Roman had realized his mistake and was glad Virgil had came to him knocking some sense into him, Roman didn't mind the closeness, in fact he loved it. And he now knew what comforted him. It was plain and simple.

It was the male in his arms, his love, his everything. And nothing could ever change that.
