(Prinxiety) a day at the pool
Virgil sighed and pulled his knees to his chest as the others got ready to jump into the pool, well almost everybody, Logan sat at the porch with a thick book in his hands but Virgil saw how he would glance up from his book to check up on Patton, Roman and Patton were the only ones who were excited to go into the pool.
It was a nice day, the sun was high and the air was fresh, even so Virgil still hated the sunlight so he sat underneath a dark umbrella, he watched as Roman threw off his shirt and was now only dressed in his red swimming trunks, his bare chest was broad and him having to be strong enough to defeat evil dragon witches he was exceptionally fit, taking notice of how long he was staring Virgil turned away.
Patton called out to Logan with a wide smile on his face, unlike Roman he wore a plain blue shirt and blue swimming shorts. “The water is great! Why don't you jump in?” He asked. “As much as I'd like to, I can't. I get sun burned easily.” Logan responded “Aww..." Patton pouted. “Why don't you put on sunscreen?” He questioned. “Ah...” Logan blushed. “I'd rather not swim today.” He said and covered his face with his insanely large book. “How about you kiddo? Don't you wanna come in?” Patton turned his attention to the dark trait. “Sun really isn't my thing..” Virgil muttered.
“He's the fairest of them all.” Roman started with a frown. “Either that or he will literally burn as soon as he takes foot into the sunlight.” He joked and plunged into the water, Virgil watched when he emerged, his hair now wet and sticking to his cheeks and face he grinned and moved the hair away from his eyes. “It's really not that bad.” He reassured, Patton stepped in afterwards making sure to stay on the shallow side of the pool and giggled.
Roman turned to face his gloomy boyfriend. “I will count to ten, if you don't come in by then I will literally throw you in.” He warned, Virgil scoffed and rolled his eyes. “As if.” He muttered. “And you Mr I hate fun, if you don't come in I will...” He trailed off trying to look for something to intimidate the logical trait. “I will pull Patton to the deep end?” He said questionably, in all honesty he wouldn't dare do something so cruel to his friend, but he had triggered something within Logan because the trait looked up from his book and glared at the prince. “You will do no such thing.” Roman shrunk under his glare and quickly apologized to him.
Meanwhile Patton, who was oblivious to the conversation, was swimming around the water and submerged his head every now and then, and Virgil was yawning to himself. “Alright it's been ten seconds! I warned you child of the dark.” Roman climbed out of the pool, and even though Virgil knew he was in trouble he couldn't help but to stare as he came up shaking droplets of water from his shoulders and ran his hand through his wet hair.
He didn't realize that Roman got closer to him it was like he was caught in a trance, it wasn't until it was too late to run that he finally sensed the danger, he was suddenly lifted from his spot on the ground and he felt his clothes dampen against Roman's wet figure. “Hey! Let me go!” He shouted and shoved his shoulder in an attempt to free himself, but it was useless and Roman walked up to the edge of the pool.
He desperately clung to Roman. “Don't you dare.” He spat in venom. “Stop being such a downer, look I'll jump in right after you okay?” He grinned encouragingly at the frightened male, Virgil shook his head vigorously but Roman took no attention to it and threw the male into the pool, Virgil barely even had time to take a breath before he sunk into the water, soon after him Roman plunged in and Virgil desperately searched for his arm or hand, anything that would get him back to the surface, finally to his relief he found and clung to his arm and waited as he lost the tiny bubble of oxygen he had left.
With much effort due to the extra weight on his arm Roman resurfaced pulling Virgil up with him, once his head broke through the water Virgil coughed and sputtered and tightly wrapped his arms around Roman's neck. “I-I can't swim you royal idiot!” he gasped and held onto him tighter, Roman felt his heart drop and he immediately lifted Virgil back to the edge of the pool sitting him down. “I'm sorry Virgil! I really didn't know!” Roman apologized with a heavy heart.
Virgil cleared his throat and sniffed “It's fine, it was my fault for not telling you so don't beat yourself up.” He mumbled and shivered against the cool wind. “Still I should known better...” Roman sighed and looked away from him feeling an immense amount of guilt rise in his chest. “Hey you came here to have fun right? Look I'll make you want deal, I'll go in, but you have to promise to give me CPR if I drown.” Virgil smirked trying to cheer up the fanciful trait.
Roman laughed at his comment and lifted his gaze up to him. “You got yourself a deal.” He smiled, Virgil returned the smile and then reached out for him. “Yeah since I can't swim you're gonna have to carry me most of the time.” He stated "I'd be glad to.” Roman nodded eagerly and held Virgil tight when he leapt into his arms, this time Virgil was safely held in Roman's arms not worrying about drowning knowing that Roman would keep him safe.
Roman moved the hair that covered Virgil's face and smiled at him. "I ought to teach you how to swim.” He stated. “I would, but it's too tiring, besides this is way better.” Virgil replied and eased his tight grip on the prince. “I suppose you're right, I don't mind this at all either.” He whispered to him, Virgil leaned forward and pressed a kiss against Roman's lips, the prince gladly returned the kiss and pouted when he pulled away from the kiss too soon. “Gotta save the kisses for the CPR.” Virgil joked.
Roman hugged him remembering where they were. “I won't let you go,” he reassured and pecked his cheek. “I promise, you're my everything.”
