(platonic Moxiety) father-son moment
Requested by Wifi4life1263 sorry for the long wait, I hope you like it!
“What did you do? Why isn't Thomas as productive as usual? You did something I know it.” Virgil winced as Roman yelled at him, he had a major headache and the last thing he wanted was this. “Now Kiddo, I'm sure Virgil didn't mean to hurt anyone, so can you please calm down?” Patton asked with a small smile trying to lighten up the mood.
Roman frowned. “Patton please, aren't you at least a bit worried about Thomas?” He asked accusingly, Patton nodded. “Of course I worry over him, but I think blaming someone for it is not right. Virgil has done nothing wrong.” He explained in defense for Virgil who looked really stressed. When he found an opportunity he decided to just slip by the prince unnoticed, but the prince was not slow to catch on and quickly grabbed his wrist causing the anxious side to wince.
“Stop, let me go.” He hissed, his throat swelled with obvious pain. “I will not until you explain yourself.” Roman replied icily glaring daggers at the trait who tried tugging away from his grasp, “Roman, let go of him. This instant.” Patton muttered in his 'dad voice' startling the once angry prince and shocking the dark male, Patton hated using his dad voice but no one was going to hurt Virgil on his watch. Roman opened his mouth to say something, but when he saw the look the fatherly trait gave him he complied against it and released him.
It was then that he saw the tears that built in Virgil's eyes that he realized his mistake, Virgil sniffed and ran off pushing past him while furiously wiping at his eyes, Patton followed close behind him with a worried look plastered on his face.
Before locking himself in his room Virgil allowed Patton to enter, when the door closed Patton led Virgil to his bed where he finally broke down and silently cried. Tears trekked down his sallow cheeks and his hands trembled when he tried to wipe away his tears. Patton rubbed his back sympathetically trying to comfort him as best he could without making him feel uncomfortable. “Kiddo?” He worriedly looked him over when he heard his breathing begin to quicken.
Virgil whined. “You have to leave.” He demanded, his voice overlapping with another deeper tone, something that happened when his anxiety was way overboard. Patton shook his head refusing to leave him alone and instead held his hands giving them a small squeeze, Virgil looked up to meet with his eyes taking notice of the dark shadows that now rested under the fatherly trait's eyes. He couldn't let Patton suffer with him, he didn't deserve it.
“Leave!” He pulled his hands away from his own, “please...leave.” His vision was blurry with tears, no matter how mant times he tried to wipe his tears away they just kept on going showing no signs of stopping any time soon, Patton stayed put in his spot and scooted closer to the panicking male. “I'm not going anywhere Virgil, not until I'm certain you're okay.” He said in a firm tone.
Virgil buried his face in his hands and sobbed, he couldn't even protect the person he loved from himself. He was pathetic. Patton wrapped his arms around his trembling figure, pulling him close while he soothingly rubbed his back and hummed softly in his ear. Virgil curled in on himself and shamefully leaned closer to the comforting touch. His breath hitched in his throat and he found that he could no longer breathe in, Patton took notice of how Virgil suddenly tensed up in his arms, his breathing irregular.
He pulled him back from the embrace and held his face in his hands. “Hey Virgil, come on look at me.” Virgil's eyes were glossy, his chest heaved raggedly, he couldn't breathe...
He couldn't breathe!
Patton quickly pulled his dark son onto his lap and rubbed his back. “Virgil, I need you to calm down for me. Everything is going to be okay, I just need you to breathe with me okay? Can you do that for me sweetie?” Virgil shuddered and coughed before he nodded. Slowly Virgil began to steady his breathing as he lied in Patton's arms, curled up in a tight ball, his hands grasping onto his shirt as if dear life depended on it.
Patton shushed and soothed him until he was calm and was once again breathing properly. “Are you okay?” He asked in a hushed tone. Virgil shakily exhaled and nodded slowly. “I'm sorry.” He apologized in a guilt stricken tone and buried his face in his shirt. “There's nothing for you to be sorry about Virgil.” Patton reassured and held him close. Virgil breathed, still in Patton's safe embrace, he was warm and comfortable.
“Thank you, for comforting me. I don't deserve it, but thank you.” Patton rocked him in his arms. “If you ever need company, or someone to talk to or help, you can always call me. I'll always be here for you, I promise.” The fatherly figment pressed a kiss to Virgil's temple who had began to doze off. “Thanks...dad.” He flushed red and hid his face in the fabric of Patton's shirt.
Patton beamed happily and gave his dark strange son a squeeze. “No problem son.” He giggled, the dark circles under his eyes were long gone, he was in peace with his kiddo safely tucked in his arms away from harm. With the reassuring of his kiddo's safety lied down on Virgil's bed. “Get some sleep kiddo, I'll be here when you wake up.” He whispered.
Virgil yawned. “You promise?” He asked timidly. “With all my heart.” Patton chuckled. “Well, with all myself since I'm technically the heart.” Virgil snorted and rolled his eyes. “Alright, night dad.” He wrapped his arms around Patton's torso and pressed his cheek against his chest.
Patton allowed himself to get comfortable and ran his hand through Virgil's scalp. “Goodnight son.”
What they didn't know was that there was Thomas, hiding and holding his phone and taking many pictures of the lovely father-son moment...
