(No ship) don't take Japanese drugs
It is literally 5 o'clock in the morning, I have had no sleep whatsoever so this might suck, it's an au but I'm gonna let you guys figure it out from where it's from. Anyways I hope you enjoy!
Virgil huffed as he ran out of the dark and ominous alleyway, in his jacket held in one of his closed fists was a small pill. In the other was a paper bag containing one bottle of Mountain Dew. He cautiously looked over his shoulders to make sure that nobody was following him, his heart was going crazy in his chest and his body was trembling.
The streets were almost completely silent which terrified him, but the usual chatter of pedestrians and the honking of cars was enough to somewhat calm his nerves. His bike was chained up to a post nearby and it took him a while to remove the chain due to his trembling, and the paper bag slipping from his hand, but as soon as it was unchained he hopped onto the bike and rode off like life depended on it.
By the time he made it back to his apartment his calves were aching with exhaustion and his lungs burned from lack of oxygen. He tripped off his bike and left it lying on the ground, he then waited to catch his breath. His chest heaved and sweat beamed on his brow. With slow and heavy steps he tumbled inside and was immediately met with his roommate standing in front of the door with his arms crossed. “Patton!” He yelped and nearly fell to the ground, instead the bag in his hand landing on the ground with a small thump.
He let out a long breath and placed a hand over his beating heart. “Gosh you scared me..” He mumbled and retrieved the bag. “Where on earth have you been!?” Patton asked anxiously. “Do you have any idea how scared I was!?” Virgil easily took notice of his friend's swollen and puffy eyes. “Oh gosh Patton I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to scare you.” He apologized guiltily. “Just...call me next time okay?” Patton huffed and brought him into a tight hug.
Virgil nodded and soothingly patted his friend's back. “I promise.” He assured and pulled away from the embrace. “Thomas is in your room waiting, dinner will be ready soon.” Patton said as he made his way to the kitchen. “Thanks Pat.” Virgil replied quickly and ran to his room where his best friend Thomas was, sitting on a beanbag chair, controller in his hands. “Virgil! If you were to take any longer I would've thought you were murdered.” He joked, but Virgil wasn't laughing.
“Uh, Thomas. I got the pill.” He merely stated and rushed to his desk. Thomas immediately ran up to him. “You can't be serious.” He uttered, his face now pale. Virgil dug through his pockets and pulled out the small pill. After that he pulled the bottle of Mountain Dew out of the bag and placed it beside the pill. “What's with the Mountain Dew?” Thomas questioned. “The guy who sold it to me said that I absolutely had to take it with Mountain Dew.” Virgil answered.
He then took the small pill in between his fingers and eyed it with fascination. “What was it called again?” Thomas asked in a hushed tone. “Squip.” Virgil replied. “A super quantum unit intel processor.” He whispered. “English please.” Thomas frowned. “Basically it's like a tiny super computer that travels all the way up to your brain and it tells you what to do. Or in my case, it'll make me popular. And if I get popular then maybe Roman will finally acknowledge my existence, and after that maybe we can...i don't know, go out?” Virgil blushed as he explained.
Thomas looked uncertain. “I don't know, I mean, why do you have to change yourself for something that might not even matter in the future? I think you're awesome just the way you are.” He smiled. Virgil shook his head. “I'm a senior in high school living off my parent's allowance in a tiny apartment and being taken care of by one of my friends. I'm a loser, Roman will never notice me if I stay like this.” He huffed and brought his attention back to the pill in his hand
“So you're doing this...” Thomas slumped his shoulders in defeat.
“I didn't spend six hundred dollars for nothing Thomas, of course I'm doing this.” Virgil answered with a roll of his eyes.
“Okay, but, just don't forget about me when you get all popular and famous okay?” Thomas pleaded. “How could I forget about you? You're my player two.” Virgil smirked.
Then they both went silent.
Virgil took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “For Roman.” He muttered and reopened his eyes. He was going to do this. He had to.
And then within seconds he popped the tiny pill into his mouth and proceeded to take a long swig of the Mountain Dew.
He swallowed and placed the bottle back on the desk.
“For love.”
