(Demus) That's why

It's my first time writing this ship so it might be a bit...
Eh..
;-;
But hey, theres no harm in trying something new, so I hope you enjoy it!

Deceit's heart shattered as the male in his arms let out another whimper, he shushed him and ran his ungloved fingers through his tousled hair, the male shuddered at the touch and buried his teary face in the crook of his neck. “Hush now…” Deceit hummed, “It's alright. Come on, take deep breaths, talk to me.” This was something that Deceit never thought he'd have to do but there he was.

Comforting Remus, of all sides.

Yes, Remus, the one who always had inappropriate jokes to give, the one who is always cackling and grinning, the childish and disturbing one...

“Remus,” Deceit tugged him away from the embrace to get a better look at him, he was met with a heartbreaking sight. Remus stared back at him with teary eyes, large tears rolled down his face, Deceit grimaced, tears didn't go well with Remus' face at all. “Chin up Remus..” The snakelike facet cupped the side of the saddened side's face and swiped away his tears. “What are these tears? So unlike you.” He alleged with a disapproving tone in his voice in hopes to get Remus to snap out of his somber state. Instead, the crying aspect pressed his cheek against the touch, his expression remained as it was. Distant and miserable, and bare. Deceit withered and offered an apologetic smile. “Not the right choice of words, huh?” Remus was indifferent and far from Deceit's reach despite being in his arms, and that frightened the deceiver. “Remus, please, I beg of you. Talk to me.” The fibber begged and cupped the unresponsive side's face in his hands. “Who hurt you? Who dared to bring you to tears?” He demanded icily, Remus blinked, eyes glossed over with built-up tears. “You're going to leave me alone too…” his voice was weak and brittle.

Deceit drew a breath, contempt and shock twisted his features. “Where in the world did you get that thought from?” he queried, Remus finally met with Deceit's gaze, his eyes tormented and hurting, and gripped the front of his coat. “You're going to leave me!” he ripped open the coat, revealing Deceit's undershirt, and right over his heart, the two-headed snake symbol. “First Roman, then Virgil, now you?!” A sob ripped through his frail form. “I-I thought you of all people-” his breath hitched in his throat and his grip weakened. “I thought I could trust you not to leave me…” he hunched forward, Deceit was at a loss for words. “I thought you promised we would all stay together…I don't understand..” he hiccupped, “is…is it me? Am I really that terrible?” Remus forced himself to lift his chin if he was going to talk to Deceit and confront him, he'd do it with his chin held high. The fabricator wanted to look away as soon as the miserable facet lifted his head, the sight broke him and made his stomach churn with remorse. The guilt rammed into him as though he had walked into a busy street with a blindfold on.

Remus glared at him with a tortured expression, face flushed and eyes swollen pink, large tears trekked down his face creating harsh markings down his cheeks, as though someone had slapped him. His body writhed with earth-quaking trembles, his chest heaved desperately for breath, his hands twitched relentlessly, everything about this picture was wrong. It felt wrong. It wasn't right.

“I never asked to be made this way!” Remus wept.

“I never wanted to be the one everyone hated.”

Stop…

Deceit wanted to cry, but he had no right to cry.

“I just want what you and everyone else wants.”

Please, stop...

“I want to be important to someone too.”

“Why…”

“Why do you all hate me?” His voice gave out on him, and he couldn't continue, it took Deceit a while to realize that the reason he stopped speaking was because his throat had closed up on him, and he wasn't breathing…

He wasn't-

“Remus!” He clutched him close to his chest, “Breathe Remus, come on, just breathe.” He demanded with a frantic tone while the facet bowed against his chest, choking on his breath. “Breathe dammit! Don't you dare do this to me, Remus,” the misleader's voice broke, “take a breath already!” He was petrified.

Finally, after what felt like hours, Remus gasped for breath and coughed harshly, Deceit would've gone to his knees and thanked God then and there if he could, but as soon as Remus started breathing again he just held him close, shushing him and running his fingers through his disheveled hair once more. “I got you…” he whispered to him. “I'm here.”

Remus shivered against him, his hands gripped onto Deceit's shirt, keeping him in place. Keeping him there. With him.

“Don't leave me…”

Deceit lulled him, reassured him.

“I'm not going anywhere.”

He spoke with the morale of a man, holding his loved one close, after being detached for years.

“I'm not going to leave you, ever.”

And the liar spoke words that went against his purpose for existing, but if you were to ask why, he'd look to Remus and reply.

That's why.

But for now, the two just held onto each other, and Deceit swore to himself that he would never see Remus cry again, he would never ever let anyone bring tears to his face ever again.

And when the other's approached him, and ask why, he'd look to Remus, always. And he'd be holding his same wicked smile, and Deceit would suppress a chuckle.

And he'd reply without a second thought, still keeping his gaze on Remus…
