Tattoos (Anxiety x Logic)
Written for a friend. ^•^ soulmate au
Everyone got a tattoo on the day they turned eighteen. It just showed up on your wrist at midnight, and basically changed your life forever. Maybe not immediately for those who didn't recognize the name that appeared, your soulmates name, but eventually you would meet someone with the name on your wrist. Your life would change eventually, and everyone always said it was for the better but that didn't seem to make it any less terrifying.
It was Virgil's eighteenth birthday today. His family had thrown a party for it, his friends had been over before to celebrate but had gone home by now. All except for Logan, his best friend(who was a few months older than him, but never showed him his tattoo), who had stayed up with him until midnight to see who it was, and if they knew them.
As the minutes flew past them Virgil began to worry more and more. Who would it be? Was it someone he knew? Would things be awkward? What if he messed it up? What if they actually hated each other?
Logan seemed to notice him tending up, so he took a hold of his hand. "Hey... Whoever it is, I'm sure things will work out. It will be okay, I'll be here with you through it all."
Virgil nodded, looking up at Logan and smiling. "Yeah. Thanks. I'm just nervous, but I'm sure it'll be okay."
"It will be. Need a distraction?" Logan offered, bringing up something to talk about when Virgil nodded his head. They talked for a while, Virgil glancing at the clock less and less now, not as worried about it as before. When he did finally glance up again his breath caught in his throat as he realized there was only one minute left-he was going to find out who his soulmate was.
Logan held his hand tighter as he noticed him staring at the clock. "Hey, it will be okay." He reassured him, giving him a tiny smile.
Virgil took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah. I'm nervous, but I'm also kinda excited? I just can't wait for it to happen, so it'll be over and done with."
"It is exciting, but I understand your fear." Logan nodded. "I was afraid as well."
"Will you ever tell me what yours says?" Virgil questioned, teasingly but also very curious.
"Maybe." Logan unconsciously shifted to hide his arm, turning it away from Virgil, who frowned.
"I'm just messing. You don't have to show me ever if you don't want to." Virgil assured him. "That's your choice."
"Thank you. I'm sure I will. Maybe soon, just depends." Logan shrugged, glancing away from Virgil.
"Depends on... what?" Virgil tried.
"Just depends. But hey... it's been a minute now." He pointed at the clock, and Virgil froze up, not wanting to look.
"Do you think I'm gonna know who it is?" He muttered, still not looking down at his arm. Logan didn't look yet either, letting Virgil be the first to see his own tattoo.
"You might." Logan was hopeful that he would.
"Okay," Virgil breathed, closing his eyes and preparing himself. "I am going to look at it... now." He hesitated at first, then finally glanced down.
He stared for a moment, reading the name over again and again, finally letting out a relieved sigh. "It's... well, it's actually exactly who I expected," he mumbled.
"Can... Can I see it?" Logan asked, wondering who Virgil was thinking it would be. If Virgil knew them, he did too.
"I... Yeah." Virgil shrugged, holding out his arm so that Logan could see it. There, on his best friend's wrist, his own name stared back at him. He was Virgil's soulmate. Logan's face burned, and he looked up to find Virgil looking embarrassed too.
Logan smiled slightly, nervously holding out his own arm for Virgil to see. Virgil looked down at it and smiled.
"So... why didn't you tell me we were soulmates when you first found out?" Virgil questioned him, smile not leaving his face. He was very happy to find out that the very person he had liked for a while actually ended up being his soulmate.
"Well, I was nervous. I didn't know what yours was yet-I've heard of it happening, and I was also worried that somehow... maybe yours wouldn't be me." Logan admitted, staring at the ground. He felt too embarrassed to look up at him. "So, I hid it until I knew what yours was. Before I got the tattoo I already knew that I... really liked you."
"Same here," Virgil spoke nervously, shrugging his shoulders and moving over to sit closer to Logan. "I'm... really glad you're my soulmate Logan. I couldn't imagine it being anyone else."
"I am glad that you are mine as well." Logan agreed. He hesitantly wrapped an arm around Virgil, bringing him closer. "I... really like you, Virgil."
"And I like you too." Virgil looked over at him. Logan looked back, both of them sitting silently for a moment until they both started to move forward. Logan pulled Virgil even closer, pausing for a moment right before their lips touched to see if Virgil was comfortable with it. Virgil closed the space between them, kissing him and wrapping his arms around him.
After a while the two of them pulled apart, smiling at each other with red cheeks, still feeling embarrassed and new to everything.
They both knew they were happy to have each other as their soulmates.
Hey! So! This is a thing I did for my friend, Winchester_At_Heart cause of their birthday. I liked this oneshot, I hope that you do too!
Also cause idk where else I'd show this at this is the drawing I did
Hope it's okay? I know I'm not the best and yes they don't have eyes and Roman has no legs but I can't draw those things and I tried my best. (Also the tiny thing on the side says that it's a pug and in parenthesis "I tried". Dunno if you can see it)
So, uh, not gonna talk much here now cause I wanna post this quickly. I started it this morning and then got kinda busy, so I'm trying to get it out now.
Hope you enjoyed this!! Thanks for reading. *gives you a birthday cake with a ring pop on top*
Love you guys. Take care of yourselves. Once again, hope you liked this. Bye!-Bob
