Captured (Prince x Anxiety)
Request. I apologize, it isn't very good; I did not know where to go with this request and I did the best I could, I just couldn't think of anything better. I hope that it's alright.
He had been missing all day. Roman had noticed, of course, and although he hadn't said a word about it he was worried. Very worried. The others hadn't seemed to notice.
His foot tapped nervously, thoughts wandering as he was lost from the world. Where could he be? He may have just locked himself away in his room again, but he had just seen him that morning in the kitchen. Nothing had seemed wrong at the time.
Sighing, Roman stood abruptly and started on his way to the other traits room; if he didn't check on him he would be worrying all day.
It didn't take him long to arrive at Anxiety's door, immediately bringing his hand up to knock on the door. He waited a few moments. No answer. Another knock, still nothing. After the third knock, he decided to just open the door and head inside, he needed to make sure the other trait was okay.
The room was a mess. Things were flung everywhere, furniture unturned, and no Anxiety to be found. Roman was on the verge of panic, but convinced himself to stay calm long enough to evaluate the situation, and possibly find out what had happened in here. Fighting away his negative thoughts, he searched for clues.
Claws had scraped across the wood floor, leaving scratches all around, and it was clear who the culprit was. Roman knew exactly where to go to help Anxiety.
****
It didn't take him long to travel there, running as fast as possible to save the other, hoping to make it in time. He arrived in the forest, coming across a tower and making his way towards it, narrowly avoiding tripping over rocks and tree roots.
He made it to the tower, and paused for a moment to catch his breath. Once he had, he took a few steps backwards, slamming into the door in an attempt to break it down. Just as he ran forwards to do so, it opened, and he went crashing into the floor. He glanced up and around, expecting to find her around, but saw nothing. This must be a trick, he thought.
He slowly stood himself up, following the stairs up the tower to where Anxiety was undoubtedly being held if Roman were correct about her having him. He froze as he heard yelling; a voice that sounded familiar to him, one he recognized immediately. Anxiety.
Roman bolted, making it all the way to the top of the tower in as little time as was possible, slamming open the door he found at the top. Inside, Anxiety sat on the ground, connected to a chain on the wall. He looked relieved to see it was Roman who had entered the room, and Prince wasted no time in getting him free, dragging him to his feet and urging him to the door. "Quick! We need to get out before she gets back!"
As he was about to run back down the stairs with Anxiety, the two heard laughter at the bottom of the stairs. Roman paled, freezing as he thought about what to do. There was no other way out of the tower, only a small window opposite of the door, and that would be unsafe. There was no way for the two to climb down, and Anxiety wouldn't be able to climb anyways.
Roman shook his head and drew out his sword; the only way out was to fight. He could defeat her, he had to. Not only was his life in danger, but also Anxiety's.
Before he knew it she had made it up the stairs, and the door was swinging open. There, the dragon-witch stood, looking completely unfazed finding Roman standing there before her. Roman gripped his sword tighter, prepared for a fight. The witch approached him, Roman taking a step back and putting his hands out to keep Anxiety behind him protectively. He knew she most likely only captured him to get to Roman, but that didn't matter. He wanted to be sure the other was safe.
When she lunged at him in attack Roman was quick to block it, knocking her back to the other side of the tower. He turned to Anxiety as she slowly stood, and gestured for him to run. "Go! I'll be out right after you, just get out of here!"
Anxiety couldn't move. His feet just wouldn't listen to him, he was paralyzed in fear. Roman pushed him lightly, and that seemed to snap him out of it, his feet carrying him down the stairs as fast as he was physically able, jumping over some of them in an attempt to get to the bottom sooner. He could heard shouting above him, screams of pain and anger as they fought. His hands were shaking but he didn't stop running for even a moment, throwing open the door at the bottom and pausing there to catch his breath and wait for Roman.
He could still faintly hear the fighting above him, when suddenly all other noise was drowned out by a scream of pain and rage, that carried from the tower window to all around it in the forest. Anxiety's shaking got worse-he couldn't tell who the scream came from.
Still, he waited outside the tower, hoping the scream had been the witch. Hoping that Roman would be the one to exit that door once he reached the bottom, and if it wasn't, then he didn't stand a chance. The dragon witch would capture him again, probably kill him, and he didn't know how to get out of the forest on his own so even if she didn't he would die out here.
He let out a sigh of relief as he heard Roman calling from a little ways up down to him. "Are you alright, Anxiety?" He called. Anxiety couldn't answer. "Anxiety?" He called more frantically, starting to move faster now. He threw open the door to the tower to find a shaking Anxiety looking back at him with wide eyes, looking like he would fall over at any moment.
"Hey, hey, it's alright." Roman assured, smiling at him. "You're safe."
"Y-yeah.." Anxiety choked out, finally breathing again. "I.. thank you, Roman." He muttered.
"You're welcome." The royal grinned back. "I wouldn't have just left you with her. I.. admit, I missed you in the time that you were missing. I was very worried."
Anxiety smirked at that. "Aw, Princey got worried about me. I thought you hated me, what happened?"
"Well, I've never hated you!" He frowned. "Quite the opposite, really.." he muttered to himself, and knew he hadn't been quiet enough when Anxiety's smirk grew.
"Really now?" He stepped closer to the royal, who in turn took a step back, only to find the door pressed against his back and no where else to turn. Anxiety took another step.
"What word, exactly, would you use to describe your feelings towards me?" He took another step towards him, Roman blushing further but making no move to get out of this situation. He waited a moment with no reply. "Well, don't leave my question unanswered, that's just rude."
Roman cleared his throat, trying to be confident in his situation. "If were being honest right now, then probably l-l-" he paused. "Very strong liking."
"C'mon, Princey, you know what you wanted to say. Say it." Anxiety whispered, taking another step; now he was very close to the other, making him even more nervous, their chests touching.
"Love." Roman breathed out, looking at Anxiety who had leaned in closer to him, their faces an inch apart. Anxiety smiled.
"I love you too." Their lips connected in a kiss, Anxiety putting a hand on Roman's waist and the other on the door beside his head, Roman wrapping his around the other's back.
When they pulled back, Roman gave an awkward laugh. "It feels kind of weird, kissing, when I just killed something in the building we're leaning against. We should.. probably continue this when we get back, y'know?"
Anxiety laughed at him and nodded. "Alright. I'll hold you to continuing that, though." He grinned, and Roman's face flushed once again.
Things should be interesting once they got back.
