Brighter (Morality x Anxiety)
I wanted to write something different okay, deal
Patton had taken notice of Anxiety more than usual recently. He found himself staring at him when the two were in a room together, fixated on each and every little detail he found. He had noticed that, recently, the usually dark trait seemed to smile more, laugh louder, and talk more. He seemed happier; brighter.
Morality wondered why. He was glad he seemed happier, of course he was, but he wanted to know what was causing him to feel so happy. He had been paying attention for a while, and whenever Anxiety assumed no one was looking he had a thoughtful smile on his lips. As though he were thinking of something that made him happy.
Or, Patton thought, someone.
That thought brought thousands more, wondering if Anxiety had fallen in love, and if so, with who. He asked all kinds of questions, was it someone out of the four of them, maybe Roman or Logan?
Then the thought crossed his mind that it could even be him. Though, he pushed that thought aside quickly. It was ridiculous, of course it was. What would he do if it was him anyways?
If the last question he had asked himself brought a thousand more, this one brought a million.
What would he do if Anxiety were to like him? What would he say if he asked him out? If he said yes, how would it go, and did he even like him back?
Patton pictured what it would be like to go on a date with Anxiety, what it would be like to hold his hand, to hug him. To kiss him. Patton felt his face burn, and he quickly shook his head to rid himself of the thought. There was no way. Anxiety didn't like him. Of course he didn't, and Patton didn't like Anxiety. He couldn't.
Patton decided to stop thinking about it for the day.
It wasn't much later, though, that he noticed Anxiety walking down the halls, quietly singing to himself. It wasn't something he would usually do-no one ever heard him singing. Not only that, but when Patton recognized the song he realized this was also not something the dark personality would typically listen to, at least not to his knowledge. It was a love song. An incredibly cheesy love song.
Patton smiled. He was right then, Anxiety must be in love. The only question left to ask was who he was in love with.
Patton being Patton, decided to call after Anxiety to ask him.
"Wait up!" He called, rushing down the hall to catch up with Anxiety, who had turned to face him when he called. Patton noticed the smile he tried to hide, but said nothing.
"What's up?" He asked Patton, who just grinned.
"So... there's something I've noticed." He started. "You seem... different, lately. Nothing bad, of course, just different! But... I wanted to ask. Who is it?"
Anxiety looked confused. "Who is.. what?"
"C'mon, Anxiety! You're in love. With who?" Patton pressed, grinning wider as he saw Anxiety's cheeks light up. The other turned away to hide his blush and shrugged.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He muttered, staring at the ground and fiddling with his hoodie sleeves. "I'm not in love with anyone."
"Yes you are, come on. Why else do you keep smiling to yourself when you think no ones looking, and why else would you be listening to cheesy love songs enough to be singing one while walking down the hall?" Patton argued. "Is it Roman? Logan? Someone else? You can tell me!"
Anxiety looked disgusted. "Roman? Really?" He looked up at Patton, and laughed. "Definitely not."
"So, Logan then?" Patton questioned, almost jumping up and down, excitedly trying to figure out who it was. He was sad it wouldn't be him, sure, but he just wanted Anxiety to be happy. He also was really dying to know who it was.
Anxiety shook his head quickly, and laughed. "No, not him."
"Someone else then? You haven't denied that you like someone yet, so I know it has to be someone!" He insisted, and Anxiety sighed.
"Okay, fine. Maybe... I might like someone."
"Tell me!" He drew out his words, clinging to Anxiety's arm. "I really wanna know!"
Anxiety's blush darkened, and he tried to hide his face in his hoodie. "It's embarrassing."
"I promise you, I won't judge you whoever it is. I'm just so curious." Patton assured, offering a smile to the embarrassed Anxiety.
"I doubt that." He mumbled, and Patton frowned.
"Of course I wouldn't judge you! I care about you Anxiety, why should it matter who you like as long as they make you happy?" Patton reasoned, and Anxiety finally looked up at him.
"And if I said it were you?" He whispered, barely able to get the words out at all. Patton heard him, and said nothing for a moment, just staring at him in shock. Had he heard correctly? He must not have, how could he possibly like him?
"Sorry." Anxiety murmured after a minute. "I'm sorry, ignore me, I'll just go."
He turned to walk away, and Patton had to think quickly. He didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything at all. Instead, he grabbed Anxiety's arm to get him to stop, and pulled him back around to face him. Still saying nothing, he brought his lips to Anxiety's, kissing him quickly. He pulled away after just a second, feeling nervous and awkward and not knowing what to do next.
"Sorry." He muttered. "I didn't know how to say that I like you back."
"Y-you do?" Anxiety questioned, looking shocked, but happy. Patton just nodded, and smiled down at him. Anxiety smiled back, happily hugging him and leaning into his chest.
"I love you." He told Patton, who smiled and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
"I love you too." Anxiety seemed brighter than Patton had ever seen him before.
Wanted to write for a new ship, realized that I don't very much care for this one personally. If I write anything about just these two it's usually a family kind of love, never anything romantic.
I know others like it, and I have read a couple oneshot about it, but it's not one of my favorites lol.
Hope you guys enjoyed it regardless, thank you for reading. I most likely am going to sit awake for a while and maybe respond to comments if I get any this late to avoid getting stressed while trying to sleep lol. I have so much shit to get done at home, and yet I decided to come over to my friend Freddie's house instead. I am glad to escape the house though-family is frustrating, and I'm still trying to get over the fact my mom now knows my sexuality so. Yay.
Again, hope you enjoyed this oneshot. *ring pop falls from firework bc Fourth of July was yesterday technically two days ago now but whatever* Bye!-Bob
