The News Could Be Bad...

(TW: Brief mention of car crash/panic attack)

*Roman's POV*

My very annoying but effective alarm woke me up at exactly six in the morning. I reached ovet to put it on snooze and Virgil snuggled closer to me.

He's never been a morning person. Never has, probably never will. But, he manages to put up with me having to leave for work so early in the morning.

The office was fifteen minutes away and I always liked to get there a little early so I don't tick off my boss.

I started to fall back asleep when the alarm went off again.

Virgil: Shhhhh...

I smiled at my boyfriends half asleep state and turned the alarm off this time.

Roman: Love, I have to get up now.

Virgil: Nooo...
He clung tighter to my chest refusing to let me leave.

Virgil: Skip work. Stay with me...

Roman: I wish I could love, but I have an important meeting today.

Virgil: But Roooo...
I pressed a kiss to his head and slipped out of his grasp, reluctantly climbing out of bed.

Virgil frowned at the lack of heat beside him and finally opened his eyes.

Roman: You should get up too, that way it won't be as difficult when you have to leave later.
He shook his head then pulled the blanket up to his chin.

Virgil: Nope, I'll sleep.

Roman: Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Virgil: Mmmhmm...
He's drifting off again already. Oh well, I'll wake him up again before I leave.

I took a quick shower, got dressed, stuffed a granola bar in my mouth, then checked to make sure I had everything I needed for today's presentation. Which, in all, took about thirty minutes.

I walked back upstairs to see Virgil sound asleep hugging my pillow tightly to his chest.

I knelt next to the bed and brushed his hair put of his eyes, which caused him to stir.

Roman: Virgil, you wanna wake up now?
He groaned pulling the blanket over his head.

Roman: Alright, plan B.
I moved the blanket back and placed my hand on Virgil's cheek, then leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips.

I could feel him smile through the kiss and I knew he was awake now. I pulled back to reveal a flustered, yet awake nonetheless, Virgil staring back at me.

Roman: Works every time.
I started to stand up but Virgil grabbed my collar pulling me down for another kiss.

Virgil: You're kinda evil you know that? Waking me up like this?

Roman: Well it works doesn't it?
I winked causing him to blush more as I pulled us both up onto our feet.

Roman: I gotta go to work now, I'll see you later ok?
He nodded kissing me again.

Virgil: I love you Princey.

Roman: I love you too Hot Topic.

Virgil: Aww you think I'm hot.

Roman: Yes,
I smiled, kissed him one more time, then started walking out the bedroom door.

Roman: Yes I do.

*Virgil's POV*

I watched Roman drive off through the bedroom window and took a deep breath.

A part of the reason why I hated mornings so much was because he wasn't here. Also because I'll have to leave for work at Remy's cafe in a couple hours.

So I just walk around the house, trying to pass time since Ro always made sure I was most of the way awake before he left so I wouldn't be late.

I love that man so much. I'm gonna marry him someday. I already have a ring, but I'm too nervous to actually ask him.

Until I work up the nerve, I'll just continue to walk laps inside our three-bedroom house.

Roman's parents bought it for us as an anniversary gift, I think they were trying to subtly hint at us too finally get married and adopt a couple kids.

I don't really blame them though, we have been dating for the past seven to eight years.

By the time seven o'clock rolled around I got tired of walking and decided to watch some TV. Only about a half hour left then I could get there early without being obnoxiously early.

I clicked through the channels till the news station caught my attention.

Reporter: -crash on Highway 63 this morning involving two vehicles. One driver is reported to have been drinking and driving and, surprisingly, received minimal damage. The second driver wasn't as lucky. To avoid driving head on into the oncoming car he veered off road, wrapping their car around a tree.

The screen switched from the reporter to an overhead view of the crash site, showing a gray truck and a red car, completely totalled around a tree, which looked a lot like Roman's.

Roman.

Virgil: No. Nonono. Please don't be him. Please.

Reporter: We are unaware of who the drivers are and do not know all the details as to their condition, we'll update you as soon as more information becomes available.

What if it's Roman?

I kept repeating that to myself over and over again as I ran upstairs fumbling to grab my phone.

I was on the verge of giving myself a panic attack but I couldn't focus on that right now. I need to make sure Roman is ok.

I finally found Roman's contact and pressed call. I sat on the bed and waited anxiously, biting my nails and bouncing my leg on the floor, as the dial tone rang through my ears.

Finally someone on the other end picked up but before they could say anything I interrupted.

Virgil: Roman! Please, I swear to god PLEASE tell me you're ok.

Roman: Vee, of course I'm ok. What's wrong?
I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding but was still on the edge of full on panic.

Virgil: The news... Crash... Looked like your car...

I was fully panicking, no stopping it now.

Roman: Virgil, babe, I need you to listen to me ok?
I nodded even though he couldn't see me.

Roman: I'm in the office, I'm 100% ok. I need you to name five things you can see ok?

Virgil: Uh... Floor. Wall...
I looked around the room anxiously trying to ground myself.

Roman: Just three more, you're doing great love.

Virgil: Lamp... Socks... Bed.

Roman: Good, now four things you can feel.

Virgil: Umm, phone... bed... socks... shirt.

Roman: Three things you can hear.

Virgil: You... the fan... the fridge downstairs.

Roman: Almost there V, two things you can smell.

Virgil: Air freshener... deodorant.

Roman: And one thing you can taste.

Virgil: Granola left over from the chocolate granola bar I ate earlier.

I took a deep breath as I calmed down. Roman was ok. That's all that mattered.

Roman: You did an amazing job love, you feel better now?
I took another deep breath before answering.

Virgil: Yeah, thanks Ro. I'm just glad you're ok.

Roman: You need me to come home?

Virgil: No, you have your meeting. I'll be ok now.
I hated how my own voice was still shaky.

I heard a few muffled voices and the sound of rustling papers before Ro spoke again.

Roman: I'm coming home.

Virgil: Roman, you don't have to.
I heard a car beep and a door open.

Roman: I want to V. I'll be home in fifteen minutes.
I sighed, knowing there's no use trying to change his mind.

Virgil: Ok, please drive safe.

Roman: I will. I love you Virge.

Virgil: Love you too Ro.

*Roman's POV*

After I got off the phone with Virgil I called Remus.

Remus: Hey! My favorite twin! What's up?

Roman: I'm your only twin, and I need to ask you a favor.

Remus: Ask away!

Roman: I need you to cover for Virgil at work today.

Remus: What? Why? Is he ok?

Roman: He's fine, its just... please? I'll call Remy and let him know.

Remus: Alright fine, anything for your future husband.
I heard a quiet giggle over the phone. Dee was there with him, listening to the whole conversation no doubt.

He hung up and when I pulled into a stoplight I called Remy.

Remy: Hey! My favorite brother! Don't tell Remus I said that.

Roman: This is about him actually. He'll be coming in to take Virgil's shift.
I turned the corner and our house came into view.

Roman: He's fine, he just needs a day off.

Remy: Its alright, as long as someone is here so I don't have to give people coffee by myself.

Roman: Thanks bro, see you later.

Remy: See ya.
He hung up and I turned off the engine then walked up to the house, looking for the right key on my keychain.

Once I found the right one, I opened the door, put my keys on the keyring and walked into the living room.

Virgil was sitting wrapped up in a purple blanket, half-asleep on the couch.

He always get really tired after an attack, so I knew he was gonna fall asleep again and sleep right through his entire shift. They didn't really need me today anyway, the meeting is tomorrow I just got the days mixed up.

Roman: Hey babe,
Virgil lifted his head up enough to see me then pulled his arms out of his blanket cocoon, making grabby hands towards me.

I smiled, sat next to him on the couch then pulled him onto my lap. Immediately he wrapped his arms around me in a tight embraced and buried his face in my chest.

Virgil: I'm sorry, you didn't need to come home ya know.
I kept one arm around his waist while the other brushed out his purple locks.

Roman: You have nothing to be sorry for, and they didn't really need me there anyway, apparently the meeting is tomorrow and I switched the dates.

Virgil: That sounds like something you would do.
He yawned as he started to drift back to sleep.

Roman: Rest now V. We're all ok. We're safe.

Virgil: Ok... Love you Ro...

Roman: I love you too Virgil.

Heyyy!
So, this one was of course written around midnight but for some reason I got REALLY tired after writing most of it and fell asleep. It's now 9:30 and I just finished the last few lines.

Also, I couldn't come up with a good title so there's that.

Anyway, until next time,
Byeeee!
