(TW: Firsthand account car crash, blood, needles, angst)

Sidebar: I didn't know how to end this on a high note so it does have a sad end but if y'all want a part two where I continue it to end a bit more happier I will. Anyway, onto the story XD

*Virgil's POV*

I don't...

I don't know what happened.

Where...

One second I was talking with Ro and Pat and now...

Where am I?

Why do I feel so... off?

Everything was fine it was...

I was driving.

*Flashback*

The roads were wet. It had been raining on and off all day.

Roman: You're gonna be home soon right?

Virgil: Yeah. I'm about five minutes out.

Patton: FIVE MINUTES TILL CUDDLE TIME!!

I laugh but keep focused on the road.

The phone was bluetooth connected to the car so I wasn't distracted by it.

Virgil: Sure thing Pat. If I loose you here in a second it's cuz the reception's not the greatest around here.

A couple more turns and it's pretty much a straight stretch from there. So what... The car.

A white car comes around the curve at the same time as me. Suddenly time is speeding up and they're too close to my fender.

Were they over the line? Was I? I don't know...

Reflex kicks in and I turn to the left.

Was it the wet road? Was it panic?

I feel as if I turned to far left so in an attempt to correct it I turn right. But it's too much.

The wet roads cause my car to do a full 360 spin in the middle of the road and off to the side.

Around and around. It was so dizzying. Then I was rolling.

Over and under the car rolled off the curb till finally stopping and landing upside down.

I feel something glide across my throat as the car finally stops and feel a hot liquid start to run down my face.

It was too dark. I couldn't...

I can't see anything. It's all black.

What do I do, what...

I feel my eyes start to close and my head starts to feel more and more underwater.

Roman and Patton: Virgil!

All sound drifted away. We're they even still on call? Or was it my imagination?

*End Flashback*

Now I'm here.

Where is here exactly?

Even with my eyes closed I can tell it's bright.

???: ...he be ok?

??: ...severe damage... blood loss.

Sound is fading in and out. Maybe the owners of the voices are just too far away.

?: ...see him?

I hear the sound of a door opening followed by two gasps. Ok so the voices were just too far away that's good to know.

Two pairs of footsteps walk over to my side and two hands slip into mine.

?: Hey Virge... It's us. You're okay now. You're at the hospital.

Roman and Patton.

I'm in a hospital. I guess that makes sense. That would explain the weird pinch in my arm. Probably an IV.

I try to tighten my grip on their hands but I can tell it didn't do much. They noticed I was trying to do something though so they tightened their grip instead.

I try to open my eyes but the light is too bright. So I attempt to turn to the side to open them out of direct light.

In that motion, a stab of pain shoots through my whole body and my eyes are forced open from blinding pain.

The heart monitor I just noticed starting beeping a little faster.

My eyes adjusted to the light and I could see a nurse messing with my IV.

Nurse: The initial shock of first movement should wear off in a second and your body will register the morphine.

I open my mouth to say something but the nurse immediately shushes me.

Nurse: Don't try to speak. Your vocal cords were severely damaged, physical therapy is an option but there is no guarantee your voice will return in any quantity.

My vocal cords?

I look over to Roman and Patton with panic in my eyes.

They try to assure me that I'll be fine. That we'll learn sign language, and I can still write.

I go to speak even though I know I can't and the nurse stops me again. I shake my head no and try to talk again. I'm in panic mode.

The nurse grabs a syringe, taps it a few times, apologizes to me, then sticks it in my arm.

I'm being put back to sleep.

If I can't talk I can't help Patton learn how to bake new things.

I can't sing with Roman.

I can't...

I can't tell them I love them.

Fun fact about this chapter: That car crash I described was a real crash I was in. Except with mine we (my friend and I) thankfully didn't roll. We did the 360 then went off to the side. We both ended up fine just some whiplash (that still bothers me for some reason) and I got a bruise or two but yeah. That happened XD
