Forever

*Virgil's POV*

It's been a few months since Ro left.

He just got a deal with some big record label to record his music. Which, of course, I'm extremely excited about but I kinda miss my boyfriend ya know?

We still talk all the time over video calls and stuff but still, 6 months is a long time.

He'll be coming back from LA in about another month and a half, and you better believe I am counting down the days till I go pick him up from the airport.

Right now I was walking along the pier, as Ro and I did every morning, looking out at the sunrise.

This was always one of my favorite times of day, this and sunset, when the sky was a range of beautiful colors that just relax you. It's normally when I come up with song lyrics.

I'm too socially awkward and shy as hell to actually sing them in public. That's Roman's job. But that's ok, I like listening to him sing anyway.

I had just got a nice smooth beat going in my mind when my phone rang, it was Patton.

Virgil: Hey Pat.

Patton: Hey kiddo! Are you busy this afternoon?

Virgil: Not really, why?

Patton: Oh nothing big, just wanted to see if you wanted to come have lunch with me and Lo!

I heard Logan distantly over the phone correcting Patton's grammar to "Logan and I," Pat just laughed.

Virgil: Sure, sounds good.

Patton: Great! We'll meet you at the cafe at noon!

Virgil: Alright, see you there.

Patton: Love ya kiddo!!

Virgil: Love you too Dad.

Patton sort of became my "father" when he took me in after mom died when I was 17. Now, 5 years later, he's married to Logan and they're on the brink of adopting their own child.

*Time Skip*

I walk in the cafe at exactly noon, already spotting Patton and Logan in our usual booth.

Walking over to them, I realized that Pat looked extra giddy today. Which meant he probably had good news.

Virgil: You look extra happy today Pat.

I slid into the booth across from them and started fidgeting with the sleeves of one of Roman's hoodies. This one was red with a golden crown splayed on the front, the back emblazoned with big gold letters that said "Prince." Which was both his last name and just happened to be how the hoodie was designed.

Patton: Well that's because I am! We just got word that we have a potential match for a kid!

Virgil: Really? That's great!

Patton: Yeah! He's 3 and his name is Thomas!

Logan: We are going down to the office later for more details.

Virgil: That's awesome you guys.

Logan wasn't much of a feelings guy at first glance, but once you got to know him, you knew he was a big softey. He and Pat are gonna be great parents.

Patton: We also... have a surprise for you!

Virgil: Me?

Why would they have a surprise for me? It's not my birthday, I think.

A quick glance at my phone confirms that it is not my birthday. But it is Roman's and my anniversary in a few days. I need to start working on a gift.

Virgil: What is it?

Logan looked down at his phone for a second then nodded to Patton.

Patton: Ok, close your eyes.

Virgil: Pat-

Patton: Just do it.

I sigh and close my eyes.

Virgil: If you guys are planning to jump scare me it's your fault if you get punched in the throat.

???: I'll take my chances.

I open my eyes and it takes a second to focus on who spoke. They were standing a couple booths away, having just come in from the back door. They were wearing a simple red t-shirt and jeans.

It was my boyfriend.

Virgil: Oh my gosh

I was speechless. After the initial shock wore off I was up out of my seat and sprinting towards him. He met me halfway, picked me up and spun me like in all the cheesy romance movies.

He sets me down then brings his hands up to cup my face.

Roman: God I've missed you.

Then he kissed me. Right there in the middle of our local cafe. But I didn't care. Didn't mind their clapping as I kissed him back, lacing my fingers in his hair.

He pulled back and rested his forehead on mine.

Roman: I know our anniversary is in a couple days, but I couldn't wait.

Virgil: No complaints here.
I said threading my hands together behind his neck, and him wrapping his arms around my waist.

Roman: I have something very important to ask you.

Wait. Is this what I think it is?

I glance behind me to see Patton and Logan now standing, arms around each other, smiling at us.

Is this really happening?

Roman pulled my hands into his and got down on one knee.

Oh. My. God.

Roman: Virgil Storm,

The entire cafe was quiet now, everyone clinging to Roman's every word.

Roman: Having you in my life has been, by far, the best thing to ever happen to me. I love getting to write songs with you and see your adorable face when you can't quite find the right words. I love when we stay up till the early hours of the morning watching movies on the couch cuz neither one of us knows what a sleep schedule is. I love hearing you sing when you think no one can hear you. I love you Virge. I love everything about you.

He reaches into his pocket, still keeping hold of my hands, and pulls out a black box.

Roman: Over these past few months being away from you made me realize that I can't live without you. I wanna wake up next you every morning and see your smiling face. I wanna have a family with you. I wanna grow old with you.

He opens the box to reveal a silver ring with two smaller diamonds encasing a slightly larger purple heart-shaped gem.

This is really happening.

Roman: Virgil Storm, will you do me the incredible honor, of marrying me?

I felt the entire cafe take in a collective breath, the sound of the coffee machines in the back making the only sound, awaiting my answer.

Virgil: Yes. Yes, yes. A thousand times yes!

I tackle him in a hug as everyone cheers.

I pull back and he slides the ring onto my left hand then kisses it.

Roman: I love you Virgil.

Virgil: I love you too Roman.

Then I kiss him. Because I can.

I know somewhere in this place is an expertly placed camera that filmed the whole thing. This moment will play behind cheesy music at our wedding. And when I watch it back later I'll probably cry, but I'll never admit to that.

But none of that matters right now.

What matters now is Roman and I. Right here. In this moment. Where everything is absolutely perfect.

This moment that I'll remember forever.

(This is the ring btw)

Heyyyy!
So, I really wanted to write Love For A Ghost but I wasn't able to get to the book that I write it in (people were asleep) so I thought of this and wrote it.

This book will be where I can write out random scenes that come into my head that don't go with the book.

If you have any requests/prompts let me know! :)

Until next time,
Byeeee!
