Dads
*Virgil's POV*
???: Virgil! I need you to enter these files into the system!
That's my boss. Jackson Knight. He's normally nice but, since his wife is pregnant with twins and due in a couple months, he's been stressed as hell. I don't blame the guy, but his stress gives everyone else stress and the office has become one stress-filled tornado of chaos.
Virgil: Yes Mr. Knight.
One look at the stack of papers he gave me says that I'm gonna be working over time again.
I sigh then turn my attention to the papers, pulling the first folder from the pile.
This is gonna take a while.
*Roman's POV*
???: Name?
Roman: Roman Sanders.
???: Occupation?
Roman: Theater director and actor.
I am currently at one of a few adoption centers that were on a list Patton and Logan helped me put together. The first being this one, where they adopted their first child a 4-year old named Dakota. She's in college now actually.
Virgil and I have been married almost 3 years now and decided to try and adopt a few kids of our own. Virgil was supposed to come with me today but his boss called him early this morning asking if he could work. I tried telling him that he just needed a day off but he said that he was fine and we needed the money anyway if we were gonna have kids.
???: And your husband? What's he do?
Roman: He works as an assistant of sorts to Jackson Knight at the office downtown, he also helps me at the theater.
???: Well Mr. Sanders, both of your back ground checks have cleared and you passed your home inspection with flying colors. We have a few potential matches depending on what age you are going for.
Roman: We'll be happy with any age but want to aim for younger kids.
???: Very well, I'll take you back and show you out nursery.
Roman: Thank you...
???: Mr. Davis.
Roman: Thank you Mr. Davis.
He leads me down a long hallway, passing brightly colored doors along the way, until stopping at a large window.
Inside were about 15 bassinets all in rows. A couple nurses weaved their way through them checking on each child.
Mr. Davis opens the door, talks with a few of the nurses, then leads me over to one of the cribs.
Mr. Davis: This is Kasey. Three months old, and she has a sister named Emma who's four. Their dad died before Kasey was born, then their mom died during the birth.
I frowned and looked down at little Kasey's face. She was sound asleep and completely adorable with her little pink cheeks.
Roman: She's been through a lot and doesn't even know it.
Mr. Davis: That's sadly the story with a lot of these kids. Would you like to hold her?
I nod and he gently lifts her up, handing her to me.
The movement caused her to wake up and she yawned opening her blue eyes to stare at me. Watching her watch me triggered a kind of parental instinct in me to take care of her at all costs.
After talking with the nurses a bit Mr. Davis took me to see Kasey's sister Emma. We colored in some princess coloring books and she told me her favorite princess was Ariel and wanted to be her when she grew up. I got the same feeling with her as I did with Kasey.
Roman: So, I'll have to bring my husband down here but I think we've found our girls.
Mr. Davis smiled and shook my hand.
Mr. Davis: I'm glad to hear that Mr. Sanders. I look forward to meeting him.
*Virgil's POV*
It's currently five o'clock and I'm still not done with these stupid files. Almost, but not quite. I pull out my phone to text Roman telling him I'll be late again.
Me: Hey love, Jackson's got me doing a lot of paperwork again so I'll be a little late.
❤Roman❤: Alright, well when you get home I have a surprise for you.
Me: Can't wait. Love you
❤Roman❤: Love you too Storm Cloud
I wonder what that surprise is... No time to think about it now, I just need to get this work done then I can go home.
*Time Skip*
*Roman's POV*
💜Virgil💜: Finally done with work, on my way home now 💕
Me: K! See you soon!
It's about 6:30 now and Virgil is finally done with work. It won't take him too long to get here so I take out a frozen pizza and pop it into the oven.
I stand by the window anxiously waiting for him to get here. When I finally see his car roll in I wait next to the front door.
The door clicks open and he walks in, not noticing me standing there.
Virgil: I'm finally home!
He puts his keys on the keyring and I sneak up behind him, wrapping my arms around his waist.
He jumps at the sudden contact but quickly relaxes, leaning into my chest.
Virgil: Were you standing there the whole time?
Roman: Maybe...
He turns around, wraps his arms around my neck, and places a soft kiss to my lips.
Virgil: So, what's the surprise?
Roman: Oh you're gonna love it.
I pick him up bridal style and carry him into the kitchen, setting him down on the counter.
Roman: But first, pizza.
I take the pizza out of the oven, put it on the cooling rack, then take it into the living room along with a couple of sodas. Virgil followed close behind.
I plop down onto the couch and gestured for Virgil to do sit next to me. Instead he chose to sit on my lap with I was not oppose to.
Roman: Someone's extra clingy today.
Virgil: Work is stressful, I'm recharging.
Roman: Recharging?
Virgil: Yep. You help calm me down, so I'm recharging to deal with work again tomorrow.
Roman: Ya, well...
I lean back onto the couch, pulling Virgil with me.
Roman: You're not going to work tomorrow. You're taking a day off to meet our potential daughters.
He sat up with an excited smile, his eyes gleaming besides the obvious tiredness.
Virgil: Really? Daughters? Plural?
Roman: Yep. Their names are Kasey and Emma. Kasey's three months old and Emma's four.
I pull out my phone and show him pictures of the two of them.
Virgil: Oh. My. Gosh. I will literally die for them.
Roman: Right?! That's what I thought when I first saw them!
Virgil sighed and rested his head back onto my chest.
Virgil: Wow, we're gonna be dads.
I kiss the top of his head and run a hand through his hair.
Roman: We're gonna be great dads.
He snuggles closer to me sitting up long enough kiss me softly before settling back into my chest.
Virgil: I love you Ro.
Roman: I love you too Vee.
Heyyy!
So I started writing this at about 10:30 and it is now midnight. Which doesn't surprise me. While writing stuff like this I've realized I come up with all different kinds of roads it could all lead to. Which is why it took me so long to write this. But I'm ok with that.
Anyway, if you got any requests put them in the comments or message me!
Until next time,
Byeeee!
