Your Idiot (Demus)

"Jan, do you have a spare bobble?" Remus asked, running up to his friend clutching handfuls of daisies.

"No." Janus said quickly, putting a hand over the bobble in his hair. He narrowed his eyes slightly. "Why?"

"I just need it."

"For what?" Janus asked, eyeing Remus' short hair. Remus brandished the daisy bouquets at Janus.

"For these. I don't have enough hands and I still need to collect more daisies."

"Are you striving to make the longest daisy chain in the world?"

Remus rolled his eyes. "Just give me the bobble."

"No."

"Please?"

Janus shook his head and crossed his arms. Remus glared at him.

"I will take the bobble if you don't give it to me. And I won't be gentle."

Janus narrowed his eyes at Remus before sighing and pulling the bobble out of his hair. "You're not getting an excuse to pull my hair again." He said, handing it over to Remus.

Remus flashed him a crooked grin and capered off to collect more daisies.

"Don't break it!" Janus called after him, knowing it was pointless. Remus either couldn't hear him or was ignoring him.

It was quite funny, actually, to see Remus Winston - who looked like he'd just stumbled through a rockstar's wardrobe - running around Kirkstall Abbey collecting daisies like a little kid.

Janus tucked some of the hair that had fallen into his face behind his ear and pulled the sleeve of his oversized jumper up over his shoulder. He was probably getting weird looks, standing just off the path and looking out over the abbey.

Janus grabbed his camera from around his neck and put it up to his eye just for something to do. Pretend to take pictures so you don't get looked at, that was something he'd learnt. Of course, right now he was pretending to take pictures but he actually enjoyed taking photos of scenic things.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed two girls come up to Remus as he was bent over some daisies. Remus didn't look up at them but inclined his head in a way that meant he was listening.

Something red and scaley clawed its way up inside Janus. With a swallow, he pushed it back down again. Remus and he were just friends, nothing more. Besides, his dad would kill him if he knew Janus had a crush on a boy, let alone was dating one. And Remus-

Remus was running over to him now, a huge grin on his face and Janus' bobble tied around a bunch of daisies.

"You finally done?" Janus asked. Remus nodded. "Can I have my bobble back?" Remus shook his head.

"Come on, we need to find a place to sit." Remus said, grabbing Janus' hand and pulling him off in the direction of a bench.

Janus was interrupted from reading by a giggle and a lop-sided daisy crown being placed on his head. He looked up at Remus with a stare that said he wasn't impressed.

"You are King Janus!" Remus declared, laughing.

"Ha ha, very amusing." Janus said, picking the daisy crown off his head. "I'd rather not."

"Why not? You must reclaim your rightful place on the throne, oh King."

Janus blinked at Remus. "No." He said, both his eyes and voice dead-pan.

"Jan please." Remus pleaded.

"No."

"Well, tough." Remus said, plonking the crown back down on Janus' head. Janus rolled his eyes but didn't take the crown off again.

"Hey, look!" Remus said excitedly after a while. Janus looked up at him.

Remus put another daisy crown on his head, which clashed with his whole stumbled-through-rockstar's-wardrobe persona. Janus snorted with laughter before looking back at his book.

"We're matching!"

"I can see that, Remus."

"I hate it when you call me that." Remus decided. "It sounds like you're mad at me. Are you mad at me?"

Janus shook his head but Remus wasn't paying attention.

"Heads up." He said quietly. "Here come Santana and Brittney now."

"Who?"

Remus pointed to the two girls Janus had seen talking to Remus early. They were hovering near a tree near where he and Janus were sitting, trying to look like they weren't obviously stalking Remus. Needless to say, they were failing miserably.

"You know their names?"

"What? No. Santana and Brittney." Remus blinked at Janus. "From Glee, Jan! Jesus Christ, I spend a whole afternoon teaching you about Glee and the characters and-"

"Whatever. Why are they here?"

Remus rolled his eyes. "They've got it into their heads that I'm interested in them at all."

"Don't tell me, you flirted with them." Janus said, looking back at his book. He didn't even need to see Remus nod to know that he had. "Remus, one day you're going to learn that to most people, flirting equals interested."

"Well it's not my fault."

"It actually kinda-" Janus was cut off by Remus putting an arm around him. He looked down at his book quickly, blushing a little. "Rem, what are you doing?" He hissed through gritted teeth.

"Anything to get the Cheerios to leave me alone." Remus muttered back. He looked up at the girls slyly. One of them looked a little put out by this, the other didn't look that bothered.

"Remus, get off me." Janus hissed. Remus moved away quickly.

"Sorry. Didn't check if you were comfortable-"

"It's not that. Well, it kinda is." Janus sighed and tried to steal himself for what he was going to say next. "If they're like Santana and Brittney, they're not going to go away just because you put your arm around someone."

"There's not much else I can do, Jan."

"No, there's not. But there's something I can do." Janus took a deep breath. "Just promise you won't be mad about it?"

"Mkay, promise."

Janus took another deep breath before leaning forwards and kissing Remus. It lasted for nothing more than a second and didn't give Remus time to react but it seemed to work. When Janus pulled back and looked up, the Cheerios were gone.

"Sorry." Janus said quickly, pulling his jumper sleeve up over his shoulder again. Remus looked down at the spare daisies in his lap, a slow blush spreading over his face.

"That- That didn't mean anything to... did it?" Remus mumbled in a very un-Remus way.

"Did it mean anything to you?" Janus asked, ready to deny everything.

"I- yeah."

"Well, it- wait, really?!" Janus looked up at Remus in surprise. Remus nodded a little. "I, uh, you're not kidding?"

"Maybe I haven't made myself clear enough." Remus gently grabbed Janus' chin. "I'm in love with you, Janus."

Janus' mouth fell open a little, blush spreading across his face like ink. "Really?"

"Really." Remus murmured before leaning in and kissing Janus. Remus' free hand went to the back of Janus' head and Janus cupped Remus' face with both hands. Janus smiled a little into the kiss, barely daring to believe that this was happening. Janus eventually pulled back when they were both out of breath.

"Wow." Remus whispered. He leant his head on Janus' shoulder. "You know you're really pretty, right?"

Janus laughed a little and took Remus' hand. "Thanks Rem."

Remus smiled up at Janus. He pulled Janus' daisy crown lopsided and giggled.

"You're an idiot." Janus said as he righted his crown.

"Your idiot."

I love this. Also, I went on a walk today and I picked a load of daisies and I looked like I was a wannabe rockstar and that's where the idea came from. Hope you like it.
(Also, reactiontolife? Your song-fic should probably be up tomorrow. It's just a lovely day today and I wasn't in the mood to write angst)
Bye,
Blaize
