Halloween (Prinxiety)
"Sunshine? Hey, I'm back!" Roman called out to his roommate.
"Oh, hey Princey." Virgil said. "How was your terribly boring part time job?"
"Okay, first of all, it's not-" Roman lost his words. "Boring. Holy shit, what did you do to the room?"
Virgil looked down from hanging spider lights over his desk. "Halloween decorations."
Roman blinked. "It's August." He said.
"Exactly." Virgil said. "Halloween decorations."
Virgil had covered the entire room in Halloween decorations. There were little electric pumpkin candles on the window sills, skeletons hanging either side of the doors, felt bats dangling from hooks in the ceiling, cement pumpkins at the foot of each bed. Not to mention the witch soft toys sat on Virgil's desk and the bloody handprints painted on the mirrors. There were strings of lights across the walls. Ghost lights over Virgil's bed, lights in the shape of bolts over Roman's bed and spider lights above both their desks.
"What's with the bolts?" Roman asked.
"Frankenstein's monster." Virgil said simply, standing precariously on one foot on his desk.
"Are you sure you should be standing on your desk?" Roman asked.
"Aw, are you worried about me, Princey?" Virgil asked. He laughed. It was such a rare thing to hear his roommate laugh genuinely, the sound always made Roman's heart flip. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
"You telling me not to worry is the biggest hypocrisy of the century." Roman said. Virgil laughed again, apparently in a good mood.
"Those handprints had better wash off." Roman said, shaking his head. "It's really good painting, actually. How'd you get the colour so close to the real thing?"
"Painting?" Virgil asked, looking up from what he was doing.
"Yeah. The handprints on the mirror." Roman said, throwing his bag down on his bed.
"I never painted any handprints on the mirror." Virgil said.
Roman's eyes widened. "You mean-" Virgil shrugged.
"Guess so. We've got a haunted apartment, Princey." Virgil said, turning back to his lights. Roman narrowed his eyes.
"You're lying." He said. Virgil laughed, his whole face bright with excitement.
"Yeah, yeah, I am." He conceded. "But you believed me for a second, Princey, don't even try and deny it."
"Okay, yeah, fine." Roman rolled his eyes. "I might've believed you a little. You're just a good actor, that's all."
"Well, that's what studying psychology does to you." Virgil said. "You learn how to mimic people's behaviour pretty well."
That was when Virgil slipped. Roman rushed forward and caught him. Virgil laughed quietly. He was just blushing because of adrenaline, yeah, definitely.
"Thanks, Princey." He said quietly. "Really thought you were going to let me fall."
Roman put Virgil down carefully and shrugged. "Maybe at the beginning at the year but you're... tolerable now."
Virgil giggled. "Thanks, Princey." He said sarcastically.
"Now, I get a prize." Roman said. Virgil raised an eyebrow.
"For not letting me break my neck?" He asked. Roman nodded and Virgil rolled his eyes.
"Fine, what?" He asked, crossing his arms.
"You have to admit that I was right and you were wrong. You shouldn't've stood on your desk." Roman said. Virgil stared at him with a dead-pan look.
"I'm not doing that, Princey." He said bluntly. He sighed. "Is there another prize?"
"Well, there's one, Sunshine." Roman said, trying not to let his bravado fade. Though, he felt it was pointless, his heart was beating so loud. "Age old prize for princes."
Virgil rolled his eyes. "Fine, fine. A kiss?" He asked. Roman nodded, sure he was blushing red. Virgil shrugged. "Fine."
Virgil cupped Roman's face and kissed him fiercely. Roman was surprised at the amount of passion in the kiss but kissed back with the same amount, wrapping his arms around Virgil's waist. Roman felt Virgil sigh against his lips and thought he'd never heard a more perfect sound. All too soon for his liking, Virgil pulled back.
"There's your prize, Princey." He said, the same level of snark in his voice as there always was. Roman blinked, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Virgil giggled again. "You look broken, Princey. You good?"
"Wh- Why- What-?" Roman stuttered, trying to form a complete sentence. Virgil smiled fondly - fondly! - at him.
"Didn't know if I was ever gonna be able to kiss you again." Virgil said. "Didn't want to waste the opportunity."
"Oh, you can have as many opportunities as you want." Roman said quietly. Virgil laughed and hid his face in Roman's shoulder.
This reminded me I need to write my story plan for And They Were Roommates. This was cute and ever since reactiontolife wrote Virgil's POV for 'Uh... Roman?' I now want them to write Virgil's POV for all my Prinxiety one shots. Including this one, Alex PLEASE!
Bye,
Blaize
