Fear is our Greatest Allie and Most Lethal Weapon (Logicality)

I know I said that this was going to be a book but I've only really got one scene/chapter  in my head so... yeah

4 different Houses. Phoenix, the witty and intelligent House. Dragon, the brave and brash House. Pan, the House of tricksters and cunning. And Fae, the House of deception and understanding.

Each of the students you are about to meet comes from a different House from this school. What is this school? It's a place where people who aren't ordinary come to learn. Mostly, they learn how to channel magic through their body and how to harness it. No, they don't use wands, they are far too sophisticated to rely on a stick to channel their magic for them. They use their bare hands, making the magic so much stronger. And more dangerous. Anyway, let's meet the students from each house.

Logan Brown from the Phoenix House. He was placed here because he excelled at the mental, theory and practical magic test but failed in the physical tests. He's a rather imposing boy but likes to keep his head down and get on with his work.

Janus Dagger from the Pan House. He was placed here because he did well at all the tests but excelled mostly at the practical and theory magic, tricking his opponent into believing his was weakened and then striking. Janus is a school bully of sorts but he's never been caught owing to the fact that he always puts on a good show and lies his way out of everything. He usually works hard at his classes, wanting a good career later in life, but he will bully other students into doing his homework if he doesn't feel like it. If refused, he will repeat the school motto while usually punching someone in the face. "Fear is our Greatest Allie and Most Lethal Weapon."

Remus Winston from the Dragon House. He was placed here because excelled in the practical magic and physical tests but didn't do well at anything else. He also has some behavioural tendencies which have made him quite a formidable student at Silverland School for the Exceptional. He's often seen going around in a tight pair with Janus.

And finally, Patton Picani from the Fae House. Patton was only accepted into this school because his older brother (Emile Picani) is the headmaster. Patton hates violence and he strongly dislikes what the school stands for which is striking fear into the human oppressors. Patton often helps in any way he can but this has led to him becoming shunned by most students. Now, on with the story.

***

Patton was walking, as he always did, with his head down. Not because he was sad but because he didn't want to be recognised. He heard a noise that sounded distinctly like a fist connecting with a face and looked up. There were two boys, one in green and one in purple, standing over another boy in a colour like fire. The boy's glasses were broken and lying on the ground. Patton's breath caught slightly as he recognised the one in green and the one in purple. Janus and Remus, the biggest threat in Silverlands and what made it worse was that they just happened to be a couple. Before he really knew what he was doing, he was standing in front of the boy in red robes, a blue ball of energy forming his his hand.

"Leave him alone." Patton growled. Janus laughed.

"Did you hear what this guy said, Rem?" He asked before turning back to Patton, his eyes flashing and yellow energy sparking at his fingertips. "Now why would I leave Logan alone?" He asked, his voice low and threatening. Patton swallowed but stood his ground.

"Because this isn't right."

"Oh enough with the talk. Can I throw him through a wall, Janus? Please?" Remus begged.

"Patience, Rem. I want to know what's gotten into precious little Patton's head that makes him think he can stand up to me."

Patton swallowed again, praying the boy behind him was alright. "My brother's the headmaster of this school and I can get both of you and Roman kicked out for good." He saw Janus waver slightly and smiled. He'd hit Janus where it hurt the most.

"You wouldn't dare." Janus growled, stepping closer to Patton.

"Oh, I would. You can't treat people like this."

Janus glared at Patton for a few more seconds before turning away, snaking his hand around Remus waist and walking off down the corridor. Patton let out a breath he didn't even know he'd been holding and turned his attention to the boy on the floor.

"Are you alright?" He asked, picking up the boy's glasses and fixing them as best he could. When Patton tried to hand the glasses to the boy, he flinched away, curling up into a ball, not even trying to get up. "Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. What's your name?"

"Logan Brown." The boy mumbled. Patton smiled.

"I'm Patton Picani."

"Like Mr Picani?" Logan asked. Patton nodded. "He's your older brother, isn't he? I heard you talking to those two about it."

Patton nodded again and handed Logan his glasses. Logan fixed them with much more success and accuracy before slipping them on.

"Wow. You must be really good at magic. Fixing glass is a gold level thing." Patton breathed.

"Actually, it's silver level but thank you." Logan tried to stand up, wincing as he did so.

"Hey, careful. D'you need to go to the Nurse?" Patton asked worriedly, putting a hand on the taller boy's shoulder to steady him.

"It's 'do you' and I think I shall do adequately without the Nurse. This, er, this is not the first time either Remus or Janus has beaten me up over homework."

"Why were they beating you up this time, if you don't mind me asking?"

Logan smiled a small smile of victory. "Well, on Janus' homework I wrote 'Janus fucked Roman's brother' several hundred times."

Patton giggled. "Good for you." His brow furrowed in worry again. "Are you sure that you're going to be alright?"

Logan nodded, the small smile not disappearing from his face but becoming less victorious and more of a normal smile. Patton beamed up at him. "Then would you like to maybe grab coffee with me? As friends, of course."

Logan pushed his glasses up his nose. "I've, erm, I've never had a friend before."

"Well, now you do. Come on, I know where we can get the best coffee on campus and I know that the barista will give me a discount seeing as I'm his boyfriend's brother. Please?"

Logan shrugged. "Why not? It sounds pleasurable enough. Sure." Then, he was dragged by the wrist all the way to a coffee shop by a very excited Patton.
