Bad Dream? (Logicality)

Inspired by @iliveforklance's story 'Midnight Cuddles'

He was standing in the middle of a ballroom. The floor was a soft white and the walls a powdery blue. Looking down, he saw that he was wearing a blue tailcoat, white shirt and white trousers with brown boots. Hearing a small cough, he looked up.

It was Logan. He was wearing a black shirt, dark blue tailcoat, black trousers and white boots. He bowed to Patton. "May I have this dance?" He asked, taking Patton's hand as music began to play.

Patton giggled and nodded. This was just like when they'd first met except this had a more refined quality. They had met in a dance hall when they had both been dragged there by friends. Logan had been awkward and Patton had been too shy to ask him to dance. Eventually, it took a lot of goading from the twins to get Patton to approach Logan. They had talked all night.

When the music ended, Logan put two fingers under Patton's chin and lifted his head so that their lips met. The kiss was soft and sweet and Patton melted into Logan's touch. When he pulled away, Logan's eyes were no longer blue. They had turned red. The sight sent a spike of fear through Patton and he realised something.

"This isn't real." He mumbled, wheeling around and starting to run away from Not-Logan. "This isn't real. This isn't real!"

"Of course not." Not-Logan said harshly. "You really think I could ever love someone as weak and pitiful as you?"

Patton woke up with a start, his face still wet with tears. Carefully and quietly so as to not wake his roommates, he put his glasses on and climbed out of bed. Opening the sliding door, he stepped out onto the grass outside their little hut and took a breath. Leaning his head back and closing his eyes, Patton let more and more tears slip down his cheeks.

He wasn't good enough.

Logan didn't really love him.

Patton wasn't good enough.

Patton wasn't good enough.

Patton heard the door open and quickly wiped his face. "Heya Kiddo." He said, his voice cracking slightly. "What're you doing out so late?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing, Patton." Oh. It was Logan.

"I just wanted to get some air, that's all. You know," Patton forced a slight laugh, "maybe going to Germany for the summer with you and Virgil and Roman wasn't the best idea."

Logan nodded in a way that showed that he was listening as he sat down next to Patton, hugging his knees. "Now, why don't you tell me what's really wrong?"

Patton sighed. Logan always knew when he was upset. "Just a bad dream, that's all." Patton muttered, leaning his head on Logan's shoulder.

"What did the dream entail? I've been reading about symbolism in dreams, perhaps I could help you."

Patton bit his lip. He couldn't tell Logan, Logan would think he was pathetic.

"Patton? I can tell that you are not telling me something. It's alright if you don't want to talk about it in detail but I want to help you. I hate seeing you hurt or upset."

Patton sighed. "Would you laugh at me if I told you?" He asked in a small voice.

"Of course I wouldn't, Patton. I would never laugh at something that has caused you pain."

"Well... in the dream you said that I was pitiful and weak." Patton said in an even smaller voice, tears springing to his eyes as he remembered the harsh words of Not-Logan.

"Well that is completely untrue." Logan scoffed.

"It's not though!" Patton said loudly, new tears starting to pour down his cheeks. "I am weak. I'm not smart like you or a big West End star like Roman or, or an artist like Virgil. I'm just me. Just Patton. Weak, pitiful Patton."

"Patton, look at me." Logan said, taking Patton by the shoulders and turning him to face Logan. "You are Patton but you are not weak or pitiful. You are kind and sweet and caring and a best friend to everyone. If I could take every moment I've ever had with you and make just those moment my life, I would be the happiest man on Earth. Patton, you are not weak. You are stronger than you could ever know. I've seen you stand up to people when they hurt Virgil. You are strong and kind and you care about absolutely everyone. No one who has ever known you  has thought that you are pitiful. You are amazing Patton. You are absolutely beautiful, inside and out."

By the time Logan had finished, Patton's tears had dried up. Patton hugged Logan tightly around the waist.

"Thank you, Logie." He whispered into Logan's shirt.

"Anything for you, Patton." Logan said, smiling slightly and smoothing Patton's curls. "Anything for you."
