Babysitter (Prinxiety)

Virgil opened the door before Roman had time to finish knocking.

"Hi, Sunshine." Roman said, cheery as ever. "I heard a certain damsel was in distress?"

"Not a damsel, not in distress, inside." Virgil said, grabbing Roman's sleeve and practically dragging him inside.

"Woah, okay." Roman said, stumbling over his own feet. He cupped Virgil's face, forcing the taller boy to look at him. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing!"

"Sunshine, breathe." Roman said. "You're panicking."

Virgil sighed but took a deep breath as Roman asked. "Nothing." He said again. "Just Issac's being a little... nightmare and he likes you more than me so, since you weren't busy-" Virgil cut himself off and the look in his eyes was pure panic. "You weren't busy, were you?!"

"No, no, I wasn't doing anything." Roman said. "Promise. Besides, I love Issac as much as he loves me. I don't mind."

Virgil pressed a quick kiss to Roman's lips. "Thank you, you're a hero."

Roman blinked, still not used to Virgil's kisses. "Uh, no problem." He said, grinning like an idiot. Virgil laughed fondly and took Roman's hand.

"Issac! Guess who's here?!" He called down the hall. There was a small crash and a 9-year-old with a bush of black hair came running out afterwards.

Issac skidded to a stop and stared up at Roman, the biggest Cheshire Cat grin on his face.

"Your Highness!" He crowed excitedly, bowing clumsily. Roman laughed.

"Now, Sir Issac," Roman said, slipping into his acting guise easily, "there's no need for formalities. Just Roman, since we're such good friends."

Issac nodded, bouncing on the spot. "Are you here for the night?"

Roman looked at Virgil for confirmation. Virgil nodded.

"Yeah, he is. Or, at least, until mum and dad come back." Virgil said. If possible, Issac's grin wider. He grabbed Roman's free hand and began trying to drag him into the living room. It was no small task, since Roman was over twice Issac's height, and they barely moved at all.

"Come on, come on, come on, come on!" Issac insisted. "We need to go defend the castle from enemy troops! And you need to tell me what happens next with Princess Wanda and the Dragon-Witch."

Virgil let go of Roman's hand, trying to stifle his giggles as he watched his hapless boyfriend be slowly pulled towards the living room.

"You go do that and I'll go order the food of Kings." Virgil said.

"Yay! Food of Kings!" Issac crowed.

"Food of Kings?" Roman repeated.

"Pizza." Both Summers said at the same time.

"Okay, food of Kings has been ordered and-" Virgil stopped. "What are you two doing?"

Issac looked up from trying to hit Roman with a plastic sword. "Virgy!" He said, delighted. "See, Roman? Now we have a damsel in distress!"

"I'm not a damsel in distress, what is this all about?" Virgil asked.

"Issac- ow-" Issac hit Roman in the leg with the sword. "Issac insisted on playing Knights and Kings." He said. "We still need a damsel in distress so..."

"Can't I be the dragon?" Virgil asked, a whine slipping into his voice. "I'd make a very good dragon."

Issac shook his head firmly. "No! I'm the evil guy!" He said with a stamp of his foot. "And I've put the fair Prince Virgy-" Virgil snorted at this, "under a sleeping spell that can only be woken by True Love's Kiss."

Virgil stared at his younger brother with something like disappointment. "No." He said simply before plopping down on the couch. "I'm not playing."

Both Roman and Issac whined in disappointment.

"C'mon Emo Nightmare, please?" Roman asked.

"I'm not playing, Princey." Virgil said. He stood up and whispered in Roman's ear. "Besides, if you're so eager to get a kiss, just wait for later tonight." He whispered, grinning as Roman flushed.

Issac tilted his head to the side like a lost puppy. "What're you talking about?" He demanded.

"I was just telling Princey about his quest." Virgil lied smoothly. "To-" Virgil paused dramatically. "Do you know if the evil Sir Issac is around?" He asked in a stage-whisper. Issac giggled.

"Nu-uh, he's not here." Issac said.

"Good, we wouldn't want him to hear." Virgil said. "Anyway," his voice returned to normal, "I was just telling Princey about his quest to retrieve the food of Kings from yonder... take-away. And the special reward he'll receive if he does." Virgil said this with a pointed smirk at Roman.

Roman's already pink face flushed even more. Issac, oblivious to all of this, grinned.

"Can we eat the food of Kings with a Disney film?!" He asked excitedly.

"Yes." Roman said quickly, before Virgil could jump in.

"Can we watch two Disney films?" Issac asked in what could've been called awe.

"No." Virgil said. He sighed and rolled his eyes at both Issac's and Roman's puppy eyes. "Maybe." He said with another sigh. "But only if you get into your PJs quickly, Issac."

"Do I have to have a shower too?" Issac asked.

"Yes." Virgil said. "We'll eat the food of Kings and then we'll see what the time is and if you get ready for bed quick, maybe."

Issac groaned dramatically. "Fine." He whined. "But first, you need to get past me!" Issac ran in front of the door and brandished his sword. "For it is I, evil Sir Issac of the Evil Lands!"

Roman gasped dramatically. "It was you all along?! My closest friend, my companion through thick and thin?!" He asked, clapping a hand to his chest. Issac laughed, whether it was meant to be an evil laugh was to be decided.

"Yes! Twas I!" Issac declared. "And now you must fight me for the food of Kings!"

Roman turned on Virgil. "Did you know about this?!" He asked.

Virgil crossed his arms. "No." He said, his tone as monotone as possible. Roman dropped the act.

"You're no fun, Hot Topic." He said. Virgil gave him a smirk and a raised eyebrow that said 'we'll see'. Roman coughed a little and turned back to Issac.

"I must fight you, foul fiend!" He declared. Issac giggled and pointed his sword at Roman.

"You shall have to kill me if you want the food of Kings!" He said.

Roman pulled his own plastic sword out of his jacket pocket clumsily. "Very well." He said gravely. "So be it."

After a very dramatic (and rather terrible, from where Virgil was standing) play fight, Issac was finally 'vanquished' and Roman left for the pizza.

"Virgy?" Issac asked, getting up off the floor where he'd 'died'. "Do you love Roman?"

"Uhm-" Virgil hadn't expected this sort of question from a 9-year-old. "Yeah." He'd never thought about it before but he did. He loved Roman. "Yeah, I do. Why?"

"Very much?" Issac asked.

"Yeah. He's my boyfriend." Virgil said. "Why?"

"If you love him so much, why don't you play with us?" Issac asked, putting his sword in its box. He handed it to Virgil to put on a shelf. Virgil shrugged.

"Dressing up and playing Knights and Kings..." Virgil shrugged again. "Not really my thing. It's not cause I don't love Princey, it's just not my thing."

"But I had this whole thing planned out." Issac said, disappointed. "Roman would kiss you and you'd go off into the sunset and get married and it'd all be wonderful. You could be King of Roman's land with him."

"Again, just not my thing." Virgil said. "Sorry to disappoint, Issac."

"But why?" Issac asked. "Why isn't it your thing?"

Virgil shrugged. "Well, I'm all death and sad and darkness, aren't I?" He said. "If I was the villain in Knights and Kings, it would be a different story. Why are you so eager to get me and Princey to kiss, anyway?" He asked. "We're already together."

"Yeah but that's real life." Issac said. "You two aren't together in Knights and Kings and it's annoying me."

Virgil rolled his eyes with a small smile. "You're odd, Issac. Maybe you could make up a story in Knights and Kings where I'm the villain but, against all odds, me and Roman fall in love. Or something like that."

Issac's eyes lit up with a new story. Before he could even open his mouth, Virgil cut in.

"But not tonight." He said. "Tonight we feast of the food of Kings, watch Disney and see if Roman can get you to sleep." Virgil nudged Issac. "Come on, get ready for tea."

After the food of Kings, and half-way through Cinderella, Virgil looked over at Issac. He was curled up on his beanbag, hugging a cushion, his eyes fixed on the screen. Virgil felt a small smile touch his face.

As much as he pretended otherwise, he really did love his younger brother. Even if he was a nightmare.

"So this is love." Roman sang quietly, his arm around Virgil's shoulders. Virgil could feel the rise and fall of Roman's chest change with the song. "So this... is love. So this is what makes life divine."

Virgil nuzzled the top of his head into Roman's neck. "You're singing's lovely, Princey, but the film-"

"But Disney!" Roman protested quietly.

"You can sing Cinderella whenever you want, though." Virgil said. Roman glared at him and carried on singing, quieter though. Virgil rolled his eyes, not bothering to hide his grin, and shuffled around a little. "Sir Sing-A-Lot." He muttered, loud enough for only Roman to hear.

"Emo Nightmare."

"Meta Knight."

"Sunshine." Roman whispered.

"Princey." Virgil whispered back.

"Hot Topic."

"Aw, you think I'm hot." Virgil hissed with a triumphant smirk.

"I do indeed." Roman said with a small kiss to the top of Virgil's head. "Very hot."

Virgil rolled his eyes again and looked back at the film. Roman hummed through the rest of the song.

"Tell him your name, tell him your name, tell him your name." Issac whispered at the film as Cinderella ran away. "No, you idiot!" He cried. "You could've told him your name!"

"She was scared, Issac." Roman said.

"So?" Issac asked. "When I'm scared, I don't forget my own name."

"But you don't live in a household where telling someone your name could hurt you." Virgil said. Issac looked back at the film.

"Still..." He muttered but soon got absorbed in the film again.

"Reminds me of someone else who gets too invested in Disney films." Virgil said, grinning at his boyfriend. Roman rolled his eyes.

"Disney's good, okay?" He asked.

"Hey, it wasn't an insult." Virgil said. "It's cute."

Virgil clicked the ending credits off. "Okay, Issac-"

"No." Issac said, pouting and crossing his arms.

"Issac-"

"No!" Issac said. "I wanna watch another Disney film."

Virgil looked at Roman helplessly.

"Issac?" Roman asked. "How would you like a whole brand new story alongside Warrior Princess Wanda?"

Issac's eyes widened. "A whole new story?" He asked. Roman nodded. "Can I pick the plot too?!"

Roman shrugged. "Don't see why not. But you need to get ready for bed first."

That did it. Issac lept up off the beanbag and ran up the stairs. Virgil laughed a little.

"I don't know how you do it, Princey." He said. Roman grinned.

"Pure magic." He said and kissed Virgil. Virgil hummed against his lips, one of his hands just resting on Roman's chest and the other creeping into Roman's hair slowly.

Virgil pulled away and grinned at Roman. "Guess I'll have to learn, then." He said quietly. "Now, go on Mr Story-Teller. Your audience awaits."

"And they lived happily ever after, the end." Roman said with a deep breath. Issac giggled.

"Can I have another story?" He asked. Roman shook his head. "But why?" Issac whined.

"I'm going to lose my voice soon." He said. Issac's face fell in disappointment. "Besides, it's way past your bedtime, Sir Issac."

Issac crossed his arms. "It's only 8." He mumbled. "And I need to know how Princess Wanda gets back her kingdom's heart!"

"You were meant to be asleep an hour ago." Virgil cut in from the doorway. "Come on, go to sleep. You're going on a playdate with Annie tomorrow, remember?"

Issac looked at Virgil with wide eyes before jumping down on his pillows and closing his eyes, hugging his stuffed toy close to his chest.

"Night!" He said quickly, his eyes still closed. Roman laughed under his breath.

"Night, Sir Issac." He turned off the light.

"Sweet dream, nightmare." Virgil said quietly. He closed the door and smiled at Roman in relief. "Thank you, Roman." He said. "I'd have had no chance getting him to go to bed."

"Eh, no problem. Always happy to help a damsel in distress." Roman said.

Virgil shook his head, remnants of a smirk on his face. "You keep calling me that, I'm gonna have to shut you up, Princey."

"Oh, yeah?" Roman asked. Virgil put a finger under Roman's chin and lifted his head up.

"Yeah." He agreed, smirking.

Roman kept Virgil's gaze. "You couldn't do anything to me."

Virgil raised an eyebrow, still smirking. "Really? Why not?"

"Cause you're a damsel in dist-" Before Roman had even finished, Virgil's lips crashed onto his own. Virgil kissed him hard and Roman felt his back hit the wall. Virgil gave Roman's hair a slight tug and Roman felt his knees physically weaken. Before Roman could do anything apart from kiss Virgil back, Virgil pulled away.

"Wha-" Roman managed to gasp out half a word, leaning his head back against the door.

Virgil looked at Issac's bedroom door meaningfully. "Maybe we should go somewhere else." He whispered.

"But-"

"Don't worry, Princey." Virgil said, cupping Roman's face and tilting his head to the side. "You'll get your reward. Just somewhere more... private."

The arm of the sofa dug into Virgil's back but he didn't much care. As long as Roman kept kissing him like this, Virgil really didn't care about anything else. He tugged on Roman's hair, storing the surprised whine that fell from his lips in his memory, as his other hand found its way up Roman's shirt. Roman gasped at the feeling of Virgil's cold hand on his bare skin and pulled back quickly, leaning his forehead against Virgil's.

"What's the matter, Princey?" Virgil managed to pant out, still somehow managing to sound flirtatious while desperately out of breath. He leaned his head back against the sofa arm and Roman got an idea.

"Nothing." He muttered. He pressed a small kiss to Virgil's neck and smirked as he heard Virgil breathe in sharply. He pressed another kiss to the same spot and this time Virgil whimpered slightly, digging his nails into Roman's back.

"Like that?" Roman asked quietly, grinning against Virgil's skin. Virgil hummed a quick, eager 'yes'. Roman pressed another kissed to Virgil's neck, nipping the delicate skin gently.

"Ah!" It was almost a purr that fell from Virgil's lips. He dragged his nails down Roman's back, leaving long scratches behind. Roman gasped, squeezing his eyes shut.

Virgil tilted his head to one side. "Don't stop." He breathed. Roman kissed his neck again and Virgil sighed.

"Wasn't planning to, Hot Topic."

Roman desperately tried to smooth his hair down in the hallway mirror.

"You've thoroughly messed my hair up, Emo Nightmare." He said, running another hand through his hair. It was no use, seeing as it was sticking up at all different angles.

"Oh, please, you were practically begging me to." Virgil said. "You were even on your knees. Besides, look what you did to me!"

Roman hid a smirk behind his hand. "I mean, you're the one who always said your colour was purple." He laughed as Virgil gave him a shove.

"Shut up, this is going to take me ages to cover!" Virgil protested, pulling the hem of his shirt up in an attempt to hide the marks. Roman laughed fondly and gave Virgil a kiss on the cheek.

"You're an idiot, Sunshine." He said fondly. "I gotta go but I'll see you at school, yeah?"

Virgil pressed his lips to Roman's for what was meant to be a quick kiss but Roman wrapped his arms around Virgil's waist and pulled him closer. Not that Virgil complained, he cupped Roman's face and smiled into the kiss. He pulled away slowly to find that Roman had nearly lifted him clear off the ground.

"Princey, I'm already tall enough." He murmured. "You don't need to lift me up."

"Can't help it." Roman muttered back, leaning his forehead against Virgil's. "You're very light."

"Or you're very strong." Virgil pressed another small kiss to Roman's lips. "Which ever one, you need to leave before my parents come back."

Roman sighed dramatically. "Fine." He kissed Virgil gently. "Bye."

"You need to let me go first, Princey." Virgil said when Roman made no moves to let go of his waist.

"Do I have to? Can't I just take you home with me?" Roman asked, a small whine slipping into his voice. Virgil laughed.

"As much as I would love that, Sir Issac the Nightmare is still here." Virgil said. "I need to take care of him, make sure he doesn't die."

Roman sighed - genuinely this time - and slowly snaked his arms back from around Virgil's waist. His fingers brushed Virgil's hips and lingered for slightly too long before his arms fell by his sides. Virgil smiled softly.

Virgil looked up as Issac practically bounced into the kitchen.

"Hey, Issac." He said, looking back at his cup of insanely sweet tea. "Sleep well?"

"Mhm." Issac hummed, nodding. "Virgy, are you taking me to see Annie?"

Virgil shook his head. "Nah, can't drive yet. Remy should be taking you, since Emile lives in the same area."

Issac looked around excitedly. "Am I gonna see Emile as well?" He asked. Virgil shrugged.

"You'll have to put in a word with Remy for that." He said and took a sip of his tea. He winced as it burnt his tongue.

"Virgy?" Issac asked, standing up on his tip-toes and trying to inch his bowl out of the cupboard. "Is Roman trying to eat you?"

Virgil nearly choked on his tea and coughed into his sleeve. Issac surveyed him with a slight tilt to his head.

"Wh-What?" Virgil asked in between coughs.

"Is Roman trying to eat you?" Issac asked like it was the most normal question in the world. "Because you've got little marks all up your neck and they weren't there before. And I don't like the idea of Roman being a... a..." Issac struggled over the word, shaking his head. "Cannon ball?"

Virgil pulled the neck of his hoodie up. "Issac, d'you mean cannibal?" Virgil asked. Issac nodded, his face lighting up.

"That's it!" He said joyously. "Remus taught me that word when we went over to Roman's house last time. It means someone who eats other people." He recited proudly.

Virgil took a slow, deep breath. "Issac, that's not a good word. It's not a word to be proud of knowing." He said. "And no, Roman's not a cannibal and he's not trying to eat me."

"Then why d'you have all those weird marks?" Issac asked, going back to trying to get his bowl out of the cupboard.

"Cause we were just messing around." Virgil said. "Just a bit of... fun. Look," he sighed, "can you not tell anyone about this? I don't want mum or dad to know. Or Remy, for that matter."

"What about Annie?" Issac asked. "I tell her everything."

Virgil shook his head. "No, you can't even tell Annie, okay?"

Issac considered it for a while. Eventually, he shrugged. "Okay." He grinned. "I won't tell anyone."

This is 3000+ words...
