[JUDITH]

My life started when I went for a jog

And spotted you in the park

Sitting with a dog

So I stopped and asked, "can I pet your dog?"

Jae had left the hospital after a gunfight a year ago, leaving behind the family who had abandoned him in that place. Though many people would think of revenge, he only thought about getting out. He had chosen to make his life better, to leave behind everything that he didn't want to be, but that was easier said than done. The past year had been full of trials and difficulties, which was why his jogs around the park had become so necessary. The adrenaline would pump through his body and give him a sense of clarity on the world. He could hear his own heart beating in his ears, it was comforting to remember that he was alive. Today, however, ended up being special.

Today, Jae saw a man, about his own age, sitting on the bench with a golden retriever. He was immediately interested, the way this guy sat as if he controlled all the world's secrets. He could care less about the dog. He wanted to know what secrets this man held, and he wanted to know how this man could be so confident to wear a capelet, long sleeves and a bowler hat, in April. Jae couldn't help himself. Walking over to the man he smiled, "Hey, can I pet your dog?"

(spoken)

And so there we were, me and this golden retriever, basking in the abundance of sun Austin provides. And suddenly, you blurted out

"This isn't my dog, actually

It's my friend's dog, Sheila

I'm taking care of her while he's away

She's on a lot of medication"

And I laughed, and you laughed

Saying you didn't wanna be found out when you asked me to coffee

That there was no dog

I said yes and you said, "I'm Jase. What's your name?"

And I heard the perfect opportunity

To be someone else entirely

Free from my history

For one single cup of coffee

I would be Natalie

The man looked at Jae confused but nodded, letting him step over and pet the dog. "So, what brings you here? I don't think I've seen you around the park before."

"Oh, well, I was just taking Sugar for a walk." The man spoke with a slight lisp and Jae could see mild scarring hidden behind his hat. He wanted to touch the scars to run his fingers over the jagged lines that made this man so unique, but that wasn't socially appropriate, "I'm new in town."

Jae nodded, trying to avoid staring at the man. "Was there something on my face?" And he could hear the sly smile. He apparently was used to people staring and Jae couldn't help but smirk as well. His heart danced in his chest like flower petals caught in an autumn gust.

"No, I just couldn't believe how fucking handsome you were." His eyes met the other man's, two different colors looking down at him surprised, highlighted by a dusting of red on his cheeks.

"This isn't my dog."

"What?"

He laughed, a little awkwardly as he rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "This isn't my dog, I'm walking it for my friend Patton, I just wanted you to know the truth so that when I asked you out to coffee you wouldn't be surprised. I'm actually taking care of the dog while he is away, she is on a lot of medication." The blush crept further as he felt he had been rambling, but the smirk made its way onto his face again. "So, coffee, will you?"

Jae couldn't help but smile, looking this man up and down as he stood. "Yes."

"You can call me Deceit, what's your name?"

For a moment, just a brief moment Jae faltered. In this instance he could be free of his past, he could be someone he had always wanted to be. He could be someone new. He wouldn't have to think about his past, he wouldn't have to be held back by everything that everyone had told him was wrong with him. Jae wouldn't have to be connected to his family any longer. To this man, this wonderfully handsome and perfect man, he could be...

"Remus." He held out his hand, happily shaking Deceit's.

(spoken)

Obviously that's not how it went down. One cup of coffee turned into two bottles of wine, three desserts and staying up talking until four in the morning. Too late to backpedal. Too good not to keep going

After seeing Deceit's apparel, Remus felt a bit more comfortable dressing how he normally would. He wanted to be himself, but a better version. For the first time in a long time, he had a bit of hope that he could be what he wanted to be. Remus threw on a dark green shirt that had puffy sleeves and a black vest before pulling on his slacks and shoes. This was still a bit tame but he would test it out, see how it worked. He was really interested in this guy.

The walk to the coffee shop felt too long and when he finally made it, looking into the window, he was smitten. Deceit was sitting there holding a coffee, another sitting across from him on the table. Though few people could call it coffee as it was a sickly green color. Even after his weird order, Deceit was still there, waiting for him, and Remus couldn't help the smile crawl upon his face. He skipped over to Deceit. "Is this spot taken?"

"Yes actually, I was supposed to be meeting a handsome man here, but I guess you will do." Deceit teased with an obvious smile, motioning for Remus to sit down.

"Is the outfit too much?"

"No, you look absolutely regal, I like it." His own cheeks flushed as he quickly picked up his drink, a green tea frappuccino with two shots of espresso, java chips and a pump of raspberry. He sipped the sick looking concoction as he and Deceit began talking.

Coffee turned to dinner, and dinner into dessert at the third corner ice cream store, before Remus knew it he was making his way up to Deceit's apartment. He was in too deep, this man was everything he had ever wanted and it was too late to go back now. That was okay. He had always wanted to be a Remus.

"Remus, are you coming in?"

The doey smile hadn't left his face since the ice cream parlor. "I'm coming double dee."

(sung)

It felt like my life, but a better version

With you in my life, I was a better person

I heard music in the words you were saying

Melodies with no band playing

For the first time, I was in love

And I loved who I was with you

All the mundane shit I used to hate

Like recycling plastic and flossing every day

Making breakfast, paying bills

Watering the plants on our window sill

Was invigorated with your sense of wonder

Pillow talk, afternoon walks

Holding hands in the parking lot of Home Depot

Dealing with inevitable misfortunes that were barely manageable

Like that time we accidentally hit a squirrel with your car

That was an unfortunate anecdote

Do you know what I mean?

It felt like my life, but a better version

With you in my life, I was a better person

I heard music in the words you were saying

Melodies with no band playing

For the first time I was in love

And I loved who I was with you

And I held on to our life

And who I was with you

Who I was with you

Who I was with you

"Hey, Remus," The two of them walked down the sidewalk together, passing by the park that they had first met at. "Do you remember this place?"

"Of course." Remus was clinging to Deceit's arm, not wanting to spend a second of their free time apart. "It's where we first met and I fell in love with that face of yours."

"A terrible decision really." Dee chuckled, shoving his hand into his coat and pulling out a box. "I know it's not fancy, and I know it's not everything you wanted it to be, but would to marry me?"

The box looked like a proper anatomical representation of a heart and Remus couldn't help but swoon at how well Deceit knows him. "Of course." He didn't take the ring, instead, pulling Deceit into a sloppy kiss. "Of course, I will be yours," and it was everything he had ever wanted.

Life with Deceit was better, and Remus held onto and cherished every moment. He would happily spend the rest of his life with Deceit, holding him close, staying by his side, spending their nights staying up talking about nothing at all. "I love you Deceit, and things are better when I'm with you."

"Don't get sentimental on me." The smirk was once again on his face, but it didn't hide the light red blush that dusted his cheeks.

My parents finally tracked me down

After years of jumping from town to town

They found you and me

Men in suits at our front door

Asking you about Judith Ford

And I knew, instantly

They say before you die

Your whole life flashes before your very eyes

Well, it didn't the first time

But this time I heard each and every lie

I'd ever told you

I tried to cling to the life I'd made together with you

So I did the only thing I knew how to

I denied who I was, because

Deceit and Remus were cooking dinner when there was a knock at the door. "Could you get it my sex snake?"

Deceit rolled his eyes, but the smile was on his face. He loved Remus, all of the stupid nicknames, all of the disgusting facts that man kept stored in his head. Deceit was in love. Opening the door he looked at the two men in front of him, a man in a red jacket with a clean white shirt, he looked a bit like Remus, and standing next to him was another man in a black polo with a tie. "Can I help you, gentlemen?"

"Do you know Jae Sanders?"

"No, I'm sorry, I believe you have the wrong house."

"Deci, who's at the door?" Remus walked into the living room but his face immediately paled. His handheld the blood-soaked knife tighter in his hand. He knew how this looked, but he knew his brothers would never listen.

"It's no one, they have the wrong house."

"Jae, come home, it is obvious that you still aren't well. We can get you help." The one in red said softly.

"No!" Remus shouted, causing Deceit to look back at him. "I mean... I don't know what you mean." His voice wavered, looking at Deceit, hoping his husband would at least believe him.

"Remus..."

"Come on Double Dee, I need you to help me in the kitchen. The steaks are almost ready to go in the oven." His voice shook as his knuckles turned white against the blade in his hand.

"We aren't leaving without you." The taller of the two men spoke, the one in the polo, shoved his way into the house. "You are coming with us, Jae." He went to grab Remus's hand only for him to shoot back, making a slashing motion at the man in the polo.

"Remus, what's happening?"

"I don't know."

"Don't lie to me." Deceit growled.

"You leave me no choice," The taller of the two men pulled out a gun, holding it towards Deceit. "One way or another you are coming with us."

"No, don't hurt him." The knife clattered to the ground. "I swear Logan if you hurt him I will claw out your eyes." His voice cracked a bit as he looked over at Deceit, confusion still written on his face.

Logan rolled his eyes, "You are dramatic, as always, Remus, that is what you are calling yourself, right? Come home, and this man doesn't have to be hurt."

Remus looked between Logan and Deceit.

I wanted to keep my life

But the better version

Natalie, your wife

She was a better person

"Okay, okay, don't hurt him." Remus began walking towards Logan. "Lower the gun nerdy wolverine." He was trying to defuse the situation, anything to protect Deceit.

"Follow with Roman and I will lower the gun."

"No, I'm not going to behave until you lower the gun."

Logan sighed and looked at Remus with a look of exhaustion and anger. His hand lowered, but his finger was still on the trigger. "Happy?"

Remus nodded and began to walk out, looking at Roman who had a sympathetic look on his face, but Remus didn't believe it. Once they were in the car he heard the shot go off. "No." He struggled to fight to get out of the door, fighting against Roman who was holding him tight. "Let go of me, let go!"

I memorized your voice

And how you say goodbye

But you never said goodbye

You never said goodbye

Logan got back into the car, wiping the gun off. "Now that that is over let's go." He put the gun in the glove compartment after taking out the clip.

"I will never do your bidding, you would have been better off killing me."

"Don't be so dramatic Jae."

"It's Remus!"

"Right, I will remember that, but the distraction is gone and you will fall back into old habits again." Roman tried to calm him down but Remus elbowed him in the nose.

"Shut him up, Roman,"

"I'm trying!"

And I held on to our life

And who I was with you

Who I was with you

Who I was with you

Remus wasn't going to forget who he was with Deceit, his Deceit.

AN: I'll be honest, I was not originally intending for this to end sadly. I was hoping to give them a more satisfying and happy ending but the song just didn't seem to fit with that. I hope you all enjoyed it and if anyone else has requests I would happy to give them a shot.
