I See the Light (VirgilxRoman)
The four sides where in imagination for a vacation of sorts. They had been resting and hanging out in Romans kingdom and castle.
It was their third day there, it was bright and sunny and of course birds woke everyone up with singing, except for Virgil who hissed at them.
Patton woke up to the sound of birds singing and Virgil's loud hissing. He quickly got dressed and ran out, skipping down the large, marble steps on the grand staircase.
He slid across the marble floor and giggled, nearly crashing in a white stone wall.
"Patton are you alright?"
Patton spun around and saw Roman in his usual attire, however with a crown on his head.
"I'm fine, kiddo!" Grinned the Dad.
The Prince walked down the steps and smiled, "well in that case, good morning!"
"Morning!"
Logan walked down the steps a book in his hands, "I really do not like those Sialia's."
"Those what?" Asked Roman.
"Bluebirds." Said a dark voice from behind them, which belonged to Virgil who looked annoyed, "I hate them too."
"What do you have against them?" Asked Roman, slightly offended that the two didn't like his small, blue friends.
"I like them!" Smiled Patton.
Logan rolled his eyes, "they aren't a consistent way to wake up."
"They're too bright." Virgil glared, annoyed that Roman had questioned him on something so clear.
"Come on Doom and Gloom! Lighten up!" Smiled the flirtatious prince, earning a glare in response.
Virgil stormed out the castle and down to the village, intending to see how they lived for an hour, however he stayed for the day.
There was a festival being thrown and Virgil joined in many of the activities such as painting, origami, baking and dancing.
However, he lost track of time as he spent the afternoon dancing with an old lady, the children where still out so he danced with them too.
Roman ultimately got worried and searched for Virgil. He spent hours searching the castle and village until he found him, dancing with a five year old girl, he spun her gently, making her giggle.
Roman watched in silent awe, falling more in love with the dark and gloomy side. He watched as Virgil passed the girl off to her father and his arms were filled by the arms of an old lady, so he slowed down his pace.
"Prince Roman, it is good to see you." Roman jumped in surprise and turned to his left, there was the baker smiling at the Prince.
"Good to see you too, Jerome."
The baker bowed slightly, "I see you're admiring Virgil?"
"Oh, I have done for years..." Roman admitted, it is true, he got all tongue tied around the dark side and he felt his cheeks redden.
"Why don't you go up to him? Dance with him." Smirked Jerome, nudging Roman playfully.
Roman watched as Virgil passed the lady off and before he could shoot down the idea, the baker pushed the prince forward, making him stumble into Virgil's arms.
"Uh... hi Ro?"
Romans arms automatically found their way around Virgil's neck in fear of falling and Virgil steadied him by holding his waist.
"H-hey." Roman respond, blushing madly.
Virgil blushed, "I wasn't expecting a dance with the Prince...."
Roman smiled gently and spun Virgil, "well I wasn't expecting you to be dancing."
"Well they've been talking about a festival... and well, I wanted to... I really... well I-"
"You wanted to see...?" Roman suggested, making Virgil nod and blush.
Roman smiled, "on the night of the festival they always set off lanterns... if you want we could get a good view?" Of course Roman had seen the festival over a thousand times, however it would be different and he knew the perfect spot.
"Really?! Can we?!" Virgil asked, his face lightening up like a kid at Christmas.
Roman smiled, how could he say no? He bought two lanterns and took Virgil to the docks and got in a boat.
They rowed out to the middle of the lake and waited, with Virgil staring at the sky, reflecting on his time with his famILY and how close they came together.
The first lantern floated up.
Virgil shot up and moved to the very edge and stared at it, 'all those days watching from the windows,' Virgil thought, smiling as he remembered how he kept himself away from the sides, 'all those years outside looking in. All that time never even knowing, just how blind I've been.'
More lanterns followed the first and soon there's was ten, twenty, thirty, over one hundred in the sky, 'now I'm here blinking in the starlight, now I'm here suddenly I see.' He thought, smiling knowing Roman was sitting right behind him, 'standing here it's all so clear, I'm where I'm meant to be!'
'And at last I see the light,' he glanced back at Roman, who was staring at him, 'and it's like the fog has lifted. And at last I see the light and it's like the sky is new.' He knew his feelings for Roman where never returned, 'and it's warm and real and bright and the world has somehow shifted.'
'All at once everything looks different.' Virgil looked behind him completely to see Roman smiling, holding two lanterns, 'now that I see you.'
The lanterns where lit and shone on his face, making Virgil sit in front of Roman, smiling hesitantly, he had been doing that a lot around Roman.
"Roman..." Said side tilted his head as Virgil continued, "I should repay you... this is the most fun I've had in months and-" He hadn't realised he was waving his hands around frantically until Roman placed his hand on his.
"Don't, your happiness means more." Roman smiled, handing the lantern over.
Virgil smiled and released the lantern as did Roman.
'All those days chasing down a daydream,' though Roman, finding it stupid that his dream was for Thomas go be a knight still, 'all those years living in the blur.' He watched as the lanterns circled each other, 'all that time never truly seeing, things, the way they were.'
He looked down at Virgil who's eyes were lit up by the lanterns and his face held a large smile on his pale face, which contrasted against his pink lips.
'Now he's here shining in the starlight, now he's here suddenly I know.' He watched as Virgil lifted a lantern up that was about to hit the water, 'if he's here it's crystal clear I'm where I'm meant to go!' He took Virgil's hand in his gently, making Virgil blush and look to Roman.
"And at last I see the light." They sang in unison, smiling.
"And it's like the fog has lifted..." smiled Roman.
"And at last I see the light."
"And it's like the sky is new." Sang Virgil.
"And it's warm and real and bright, and the world has somehow shifted..." They sang, surround by bright lanterns.
"All at once everything looks different, now that I see you." They sang, Roman gently caressed Virgil's hair out of his eyes.
Neither realised it but they leaned in close, their eyes closing and heads tilting and finally. Their lips touched.
They kissed.
