Dentist (Platonic LAMP)
Thank you for the request, and I hope this is at least somewhat what you wanted. I didn't know what to do for the ship, so I just said, "Screw it, platonic LAMP it is!"
-Thrid Person POV-
The sides were in the mindscape, casually hanging out with each other. Logan was quietly keeping to himself, not enjoying the pain coming from inside his mouth. He knew he needed to get it checked out, but he was afraid to. He wouldn't ever admit that to the others, but it's the truth he can't deny himself.
"Lo, are you okay?" Patton asks suddenly. Logan looks over to him, also seeing Roman and Virgil looking back. "Yes, why?" Logan lies, trying to shrug off the issue. "You didn't look ‘okay’, that's why." Virgil answers.
"Meaning?" Logan asks. "Meaning that you were being a little too quiet." Roman says. "Oh, please; you know I like keeping to myself." Logan reasons.
"Yeah, but you usually jump into our conversations for one reason or another..." Patton says. Logan simply looks away from him, not knowing what to say from this point. If he told them, they'd pester him to go to the dentist, and Logan didn't want that.
-Patton's POV-
I was worried about Logan, and I could tell Roman and Virgil were too. Usually, Logan likes to point out ‘logical inconsistencies’ in our conversations, but he didn't this time.
"Lo, come on... Tell us what's wrong..." I say, more in a pleading way. "See, I don't want to do that, Patton. I'm sorry." he says, obviously avoiding whatever issue this is. "Why not?" Virgil and I say at the same time. "Because you'll pester me." he answers.
"Are we not pestering you now? Just make it easier on yourself and tell us!" Roman says.
"... I have a toothache, alright?" He reluctantly admits. "Oh, well if that's the problem, we can just take you to the De-"
"No!" he interrupts me. I jump at his outburst and Roman says, "That's quite the reaction." Logan sighs and says, "I-i'm sorry..."
-Virgil's POV-
Logan's acting almost as if he's... Afraid... I decided to listen a bit longer before jumping into the conversation.
"It's okay, Logie, but why such a strong response?" Patton asks. "Agreed; you practically yelled at Patton." Roman says. "I... Just don't think that the dentist is necessary." Logan says.
"That's a lie." Roman says. "Logan." Patton says in his Dad Voice. "I'm just..."
"Afraid." I jump in. Everyone looks at me and Logan tries to protest. Before he could, I hold up my hand and say, "You are. Obviously, you're avoiding going to the Dentist because you're afraid of them. That's what the problem is."
"Is... That true, Logan?" Patton asks. Logan solemnly nods, to which Roman says, "Well, you still need it checked out..."
"No... Please... I'll be fine." Logan quietly says. "Lo, I know you don't want to, but you have to." Patton says, holding Logan's shoulder.
"Logan, if you don't go now, it'll only make things worse later on." I tell him. "I know that!" he bristles.
-Roman's POV-
There has to be a way to convince Logan to go... He can't just ignore this; that would be like ignoring a broken arm.
"Logan, so help me, if you don't go, I will drag you there myself." I tell him. "And we'll help." Virgil says, looking at Patton. "No." Logan says. "You're acting like a child, Logan." I scold him.
"I don't want to go." Logan says. "Too bad, you have to." I tell him. "Roman! Logan, we know you don't want to, but I'm sorry; if you don't get it checked out, it'll only make it worse later on." Patton says, talking in a way that one would talk to an upset child.
Logan says nothing and rather looks away. Patton holds out his hand and says, "Come on, Lo. We'll be there with you."
"We will?" Virgil asks. I glare at him and Patton and I say, "Yes, we will." in a passive-aggressive tone.
"I mean, yeah, of course we will..." Virgil says reluctantly.
-Logan's POV-
I still really don't want to do this, but we all get in the car regardless. Halfway through the drive, I start getting really anxious, and both Patton and Virgil were taking notice (Roman was driving).
"Lo, you're gonna be okay." Patton says. Virgil turns to me from the front seat and jokingly says, "I thought I was the anxious one." Patton gives him a look, to which Virgil says, "What? I was just trying to cheer him up a bit..."
"My grattitude, Virgil, but I don't know if that'll work." I tell him. Virgil shrugs in a sad way and turns back around.
We get to the dreaded dentist building, and I feel like gluing myself to the seat. I'd rather be anywhere else. Everyone gets out, but I still refuse to go inside.
"Oh my god, Logan. We're already here!" Virgil says. "I don't care, I don't want to be here." I tell him. Patton grabs one of my hands, trying to gently pull me forward.
"Come on, Logie; you'll be fine!" he tries to console. I pull my arm back, but he doesn't let go. Virgil rolls his eyes and grabs my other arm, pulling me away from the car.
I end up with Roman pushing me by the back, Virgil pulling me by the arm, and Patton leading me by my hand. "I hate everything about this." I say. "Don't care, it has to happen." Roman says behind me.
They drag me into the building and up to the front desk. "We need to see a dentist, please." Patton says.
"Uh... Normally, I would ask if you had an appointment but... I'll let them know." the woman behind the desk says, looking at us skeptically.
-Patton's POV-
We stand in the living room, still holding onto Logan, while the lady behind the desk schedules us in. Eventually, one of the dentists (a young girl) comes out and says, "I take it you are the four my boss told me about?"
"Yes, but it's really just one of us that needs taken care of." Roman says, pointing at Logan. She nods in a slightly confused way and says, "Very well, this way please."
We all drag Logan after the dentist to the rooms they examine teeth in. We sit Logan down and he folds his arms, not looking particularly happy about this situation.
"So, what's your name, sir?" she asks. "Logan." he says grumpily. "Okay, Logan, what's the issue?" she sounds so sweet, but Logan didn't seem to care too much.
"Nothing." he says. Virgil growls and says, "He has a toothache." The dentist girl nods and says, "Ah, I work with those all the time." I smile at her apologetically and say, "I'm sorry for Logan's grumpiness; he's not exactly a fan of the dentists..."
"Oh, that's okay! He won't feel a thing, I promise." she says. We all wait in the same room while Logan gets his tooth fixed, and he just sits there the whole time looking like Virgil does when he's angry.
When he's finally done, he walks over to us, cross-armed. After we pay and walk outside towards the car, I ask him, "Was it really that bad?"
"Yes." he says. "Did it hurt?" Roman asks. "...No..." Logan says, opening the door to the backseats.
"Does it feel better now?" Virgil says, more in a statement way than a question. "...Yes..."
"Then it was worth it, right?" I ask. "No." he says, huffing and turning to look out the window.
"Alright, whatever Lo. We're just glad you're better." Virgil says. Logan makes a bunch of sarcastic mumbles as Roman starts the car.
"....Thank you, guys." he mutters a short while later. "You're welcome, Logie!" "Whatever." "Of course." we all say.
We got home and Logan went right to his room. I shrug and continue hanging out with Roman and Virgil. What a day.
