the best dad (no ship)
Thomas's pov
Oh gosh! Why did I agree to babysit?! I didn't know what I was doing! I summoned Roman and Patton first, they should be able to sort this out. Patton tried to sort out Dennis, the baby and Roman tried to play with Viviana, the four year old. They failed miserably. My next instinct was to call in Virgil, he had no idea what he was doing and summoned Logan, who was reading at the time. He looked around, confused, and I went to wash my face. I would explain to him in a minute.
Logan's pov
Thomas had agreed to babysit for a friend and was now worried because the baby wouldn't stop crying and the child refused to listen. Virgil was panicking in the corner, Patton was telling Roman off for trying to dangle the toys in front of the child and nearly making her fall off the sofa, Thomas had gone to the bathroom to wash his face and calm down. I sighed and picked up a book from the floor. The little girl sat on the sofa, ready to be read to. I picked up the baby from the mat in the centre of the floor and held him in one arm, balancing the book in the other. I sat down next to the girl and read the book, asking the girl to turn the pages so she remained focused. She fell asleep halfway through the book and I rested her head on the arm of the sofa. I got up and found some formula for the baby and fed it. I sat down, the baby still drinking the formula. I sighed and looked up. The others were all staring at me. I blushed and looked back at the baby. He was falling asleep.
"How did you do that?"
"I'm logic, I know a lot of things."
"I'm the dad! This should be my specialty!"
"We all fail sometimes Patton, even -albeit rarely- me."
"Doesn't make me feel any better..."
"Would you like to hold the baby?"
"Yes please!" I nodded to the armchair next to me
"You should sit down." He nods and sits excited. I put the baby in his lap gently. He gasped and smiled, pressing one finger gently onto the baby's nose and whispering "boop!" I chuckle. He seems so happy. I turn around, the other three were looking on at me, amazed. I raised an eyebrow.
"What is it?"
"You're just so good with kids" Roman muttered in an excited whisper.
"I've practiced before."
"With who?"
"Well you lot, to start off with. Then I began to spend time in the imagination. I read books and tried with pretence in the imagination in case Thomas should one day come across a child in need of care without the knowledge of how to help in the real world."
"Okay, Microsoft turd"
"Not in front of the children, how is Thomas supposed to explain if one of the children uses foul language when the parents haven't said such words?"
"Okay. Pencil pusher"
"Because your side remark was so necessary and well thought out, you deserve a gold star! Oh look, it's non existent, like the applause you got for your playground insult."
"Roman, you were just roasted by the teacher, time to think up some better insults." Thomas said as Virgil whisper-yelled in the background about how "savage" I was. I turned to Patton. He had fallen asleep, as had the baby. I took the baby upstairs and put him to bed and then put the child to bed as well. I sat down in the living room as we heard the door open. Me and the other sides sunk down as Thomas went to take the little girl up to bed.
Thomas's pov
My friends were so happy with 'my' work, they insisted on paying me something. I left a little while later. I got home and dropped onto my bed, not bothering to change. I made a mental note to thank Logan in the morning. He had done something amazing today. I'll have to find a way to thank him.
