Fidgeting (no ship)
Virgil sat on his bed, twiddling his thumbs and staring at his hands like they were the most interesting thing the world had to offer. The barely-there red marks (from where he accidentally scratched his hands while twisting his fingers in and out of each other) were merged into one another as his fingers danced around each other in pairs or alone.
Virgil chuckled as he tangled his fingers together and twisted his hand, joints making clicks that were barely audible while he continued tracing patterns on his skin. A knock at the door startled Virgil and he pulled his hands away from each other and moved to open the door. The handle turned as whoever was on the other side began to let themself in. Virgil scampered back to his bed and twisted his hands in his sheets so he wouldn't fidget.
"Salutations, Virgil."
"Hey calculator watch, what brings you to my cavern of darkness?"
"I have a gift for you. I hope you find it satisfactory" Logan held out his hand and Virgil took the little black box that lay in the centre of Logan's palm. It was a fidget cube. How did Logan know about his fidgeting? He did it subconsciously sometimes, but he noticed and stopped before he could be caught, or so he thought.
"I noticed the scratches on your hands. I figured it was the result of absent-minded fidgeting and so I purchased that so you could calm yourself without getting any scratches." Logan explained, a hopeful half-smile on his face. Virgil beamed at him and began pressing the buttons on the fidget cube. Logan smiled as Virgil continued playing with the fidget cube and brought out a Rubik's cube for himself. The two sat on the bed, occasionally switching so Virgil could give Logan a new puzzle to solve and Logan could make patterns with the small clicks the cube made whenever he did certain things.
The constant clicks attracted the attention of a curious Roman when he passed Virgil's door. He stared as the two played with the objects in their hands and swapped, once so Virgil could make a new puzzle, then again so Logan could solve it. Roman took a picture then left. Logan looked up at Virgil, the solved Rubik's cube in his hand. Virgil rolled his eyes.
"They should make four by four cubes for people like you, who need more of a challenge" Virgil commented as he twisted and switched the cube until it was as messed up as he thought it could get. He passed it back to Logan and began clicking the buttons again. Logan stared down at the cube for a moment before he was twisting the segments, pausing for a few moments every so often as he tried to work out his next move.
Patton walked into the room, holding a box which he placed on the floor. He sat down and pulled out a box of colouring pencils and some paper, setting them next to the box. He left and came back with Roman, who he (gently) pushed to the floor beside the colouring pencils and paper. Patton left again but didn't return this time. Eventually, the smell of cookies reached Virgil's room and the three sat in silence, just enjoying themselves, and they were only interrupted when Patton insisted that they went downstairs to have lunch.
It happened regularly after that, just sitting together in silence as they enjoyed separate activities until Patton insisted they had a meal or went to bed.
And all because Virgil couldn't help his fidgeting...
