Flirting Critic (Prinxiety)

(Roman's P.O.V.)
I'm the romantic one, so it would be only natural that out of all the Sides I am the best at flirting. Now, I don't flirt romantically with anyone in the mind palace, just because I don't know the repercussions of that and I'm pretty sure Logan would have my head if I so much of said anything to Patton in that way.

So instead I just platonically mess with Logan and Patton, throwing flirty comments here and there. Patton just giggles, and Logan stares at me as if I grew another head half the time. The other half of the time he explains to me why what I said wasn't correct. The only one I haven't tried flirting with though is Virgil. This is mainly because we weren't on great terms until the "Accepting Anxiety" videos, but now we're in an okay place and I would like to see his reaction.

So, as he sits in the common room looking at his phone I decide to walk up and begin my experiment. I clear my throat and he looks at me, raising an eyebrow but not saying anything. I just smile, a line coming to mind.

"Am I a Beast? Because you are definitely a beauty." Knowing Virgil, I expected this line to effect him in some way. After all, he has very low self-esteem and doesn't particularly like the way he looks, so a compliment like this would probably effect him in some way.

However, he just blinks and stands up, walking over to me. At first I'm a little scared but he just grabs my shoulders and pushes them back a bit, kicking my leg and making me straighten up. He grabs my arm and puts my hand on my hip, then grabs my chin and angles my head up a bit. Then, finally, he backs away and stares at me.

"You didn't look confident enough." He states and then shakes his head, walking around me and inspecting me. "For the romantic one, you sure don't know a lot about flirting." He says and I scoff, still standing in the position he put me in.

"Excuse you, like you'd know anything about flirting." I say and he chuckles lowly.

"I'm offended that you think I'm only good at being angsty and annoying." He says dismissively, stopping in front of me and crossing his arms.

"That's not true!" I say defensively and he waves his hand as a way of dismissing the conversation. I just huff, putting my weight on one foot and staring at him. "Fine, if you know so much about flirting, what did I do wrong?" He smirks, looking as if he was waiting for this moment. And, believe it or not, he started listing faults.

"Like I said before, you didn't look confident enough. You used a cheesy pick up line, Disney no less, and delivered it in a way that made you sound like the desperate prince you are." My eyes widen and my jaw drops slightly at that, making him smirk more. He continues listing things, to my dismay. "You obviously hadn't done any research into the person you were trying to flirt with, keyword trying. You were trying way to hard to seem romantic, and finally you didn't use any other senses to your advantage." I am shocked, standing there with my hand on my hip and my mouth wide open. Virgil laughs at my expression, and it makes me immediately close my mouth and start glaring at him.

"W-Well if you know all of that, then how do I fix it?" I ask before I even realize what I'm saying. Did I actually just ask for flirting tips from the physical embodiment of anxiety? What has my life become? Virgil looks almost as shocked as I did when I realized what I said, but quickly recovers and shrugs, thinking things over as he bites his lip.

"When it comes to confidence, just don't slouch as much and actually put an effort into your appearance." He says, straightening up and pushing his bangs to the side before crossing his arms. "When you deliver a line you want to sound the way you mean it, so in a teasing and playful manner or a romantic manner, depends on the line and situation." His voice seems to become smoother, and each word ends up having an almost new sound to it as he speaks in a rich, smooth, confident voice.

"When you flirt with someone you want to know something about them, what you should aim for, and what they would like. That's why randomly starting conversation with a stranger is often not started by flirting." He states this as if it were obvious, and with how he's saying it I actually feel dumb for not knowing it. "Don't try to hard to seem romantic or playful, instead just be natural about it. If you're trying to hard, then it will show and immediately turn people away." He says, his smooth tone seeming natural rather than forced, despite the fact that I've never heard him talk this way before.

He starts walking up to me, moving around me as he continues talking. "When it comes to lines, cheesy lines make you sound like an uncreative idiot and sexy lines make you sound like a pervert, neither of which you want." He says, and I nod, not being able to do anything else. He continues walking around me and as he speaks he stops behind me. "And finally, assuming you aren't flirting with a stranger, don't be afraid to take advantage of other senses." He says, leaning closer. "Wear cologne, put on music, gently play with their hair." He says, and my eyes close as he puts his hands on my shoulders gently, one hand sliding up my neck to my hair that he starts to mess with slowly. The smell of a gentle cologne wafts through the room, and it takes all my power to not fall asleep in comfort.

"W-Wait, if you don't use lines then how do you flirt?" I ask, trying to seem confident even though I feel like I'm melting into a puddle. Virgil chuckles lowly, his other hand moving from my shoulder and down my arm.

"You just make it a part of conversation." I shake my head, confused.

"B-But how... How does that work?" He sighs, moving his hand up and down my arm.

"You're such an idiot, I'd be worried about you losing your own heart if I wasn't holding it." My breath hitches as my cheeks heat up. So that's how it works. I open my mouth to speak but no words come out, making me look like an idiot for a few seconds. Finally I manage to say something, but it isn't want I originally intended to say.

"How are you so good at this?" He chuckles again, moving around to step in front of me. His one hand stays on my arm, the other that was previously playing with my hair now cupping my cheek.

"Any excuse to see that gorgeous face blush is a good excuse." I bite my tongue to keep from saying something else that I might regret, like just how much he's getting to me right now. However, after that line and the inevitable blush spreading across my cheeks more, Virgil is done with the flirting and backs away, smirking and crossing his arms, letting his bangs fall back into place. "And that is how you flirt, Princey."

His normal sarcastic tone is back, but after seeing that new side to him it's an almost comforting change. I just shake my head, stuttering as I try to say something. He just sighs and starts walking away, patting my shoulder as he passes.

"Did you mean all that?" Did I just say that? I turn to see that Virgil has stopped walking and he turns, smirking yet again.

"Another thing to know, don't say anything that you don't mean." And with that and a wink, he's off to his room, leaving me standing there blushing and wondering what just happened.
