Logan rested his hand on his chin, watching Roman and Virgil dancing in the kitchen to Christmas Carols with amusement on his face. Virgil was laughing and his face was beet red as he tripped over Roman's feet and stumbled about, trying to keep up with Roman's dancing. Roman was smiling fondly, gripping Virgil's hands tightly and keeping him from falling over. Occasionally he would press a kiss to Virgil's forehead, cheek, or lips, and Logan's smile would grow a little bit wider. His smile wavered slightly as he saw Patton frosting a plate of Christmas cookies, grinning from ear to ear and giggling at Roman and Virgil's happy-go-lucky antics. Logan sighed, his shoulders slumping as he gazed at Patton with longing. it may have been the two glasses of eggnog talking or the lack of sleep, but Logan's heart seemed to race in his chest every time he saw.
"R-Ro, Roman, wait!" Virgil squealed as Roman scooped him up into his arms and spun around the kitchen, nearly knocking into Patton and his cookies. Logan sprang up out of his chair, arms stretched out instinctively as Patton stumbled backward and clutched his chest, eyes wide with fear. Roman quickly set Virgil down and gave Patton a quick hug, making sure that he was alright. Logan's expression hardened and he plopped down into his chair, practically pouting as he picked up his cup of eggnog and took a swig from it.
"Hey Lo, come help me finish the cookies please?" Patton asked in a sing-song tone. He frowned as Logan remained in his chair, his emotionless-as-ever face staring off into the distance. Patton didn't like that Logan was isolating himself from all of them on Christmas day. It was just like Virgil all over again, but now with his belovedLogan, too. Patton sighed and set down his tube of frosting, skipping into the living room and plopping down on Logan's lap. Logan shrieked, dropping his eggnog and spilling it all over the two of them.
"Oh my goodness, my apologies, Patton. It's...oh no, it got all over your sweater!" Lohan muttered, using his own sweater to wipe off Patton's face and lap. Patton rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around Logan's neck. resting his head on his shoulder. Logan swallowed, glancing down nervously, feeling his heart beating rapidly in his chest once again.
"It's okay, Lo-Lo! Want to come help me finish the cookies?" Patton asked, sticking out his bottom lip. "Please? Pretty please with a Rubix cube on top?" Logan smiled a little at that and sighed, removing Patton's arms from around his neck, gently scooting him onto the floor, and getting to his feet. "Yay! Come on, Logan!" Patton said, grabbing Logan by the hand and yanking him into the kitchen. As soon as they entered, he tossed an apron and a tube of frosting Logan's way, immediately turning back to the cookies. Logan sighed and joined him, putting on the apron and taking a few of the cookies from Patton's plate.
Roman and Virgil watched Patton and Logan in slight exasperation, especially Logan. He was still, arms nearly glued to his sides. He seemed to flinch every time he and Patton brushed elbows. Virgil groaned and shook his head.
"These two are hopeless. We need to do something. Right now," Roman said firmly, tapping his chin thoughtfully. Virgil smirked at his boyfriend, resting his chin in his hands. Roman gasped and snapped his fingers, grinning widely.
"Mistletoe!"
"Mistletoe...? How cliche are you?" Virgil asked, shaking his head. Roman gasped in fake offense and shoved Virgil playfully.
"I am not cliche! These two just need a little extra push!" Roman said, smiling to himself. He cringed as Patton tried to slip his hand into Logan's stealthily, only for the other to snatch it away, face aflame, and Patton hanging his head in shame.
"Make that a gigantic push..."
The cookies were finished, the food had been eaten, and the four sides snuggled up on the couch for their annual Christmas Movie Marathon. They started with a classic, It's a Wonderful Life, one of Patton's, and surprisingly Logan's, personal favorites. Roman and Virgil had made sure to put Logan and Patton next to each other on the couch, and watched hopefully. Logan remained stiff, knees drawn up to his chest, and Patton was slumped against the couch, watching the movie dully that he usually enjoyed so well.
"Well, I'm exhausted. I think I'll head off to bed," Logan said briskly, getting up off the couch and stretching, faking a yawn. Patton's face fell even more and Roman was seized with a sudden desperation.
"N-No! You can't leave yet!" Roman cried, getting to his feet and jumping at Logan, tackling him to the ground. Logan growled in frustration and tried to shove the dramatic trait away, kicking and hitting, but not trying to hurt him.
"I said I'm tired! Let me go!" Logan hissed. Virgil watched with slight amusement as Logan and Roman continued to wrestle on the ground, sort of turning it into a game at this point, but Patton's eyes were wide with worry. Roman was a lot stronger than Logan, and even if Roman was just messing around, Logan could get hurt! Really badly hurt! But...Patton wasn't strong either...what if he just made everything worse by intervening? What if Logan was having fun? Patton sighed and settled back down on the couch to continue watching the movie when he heard a crack and a howl. He looked down at the two men on the floor and was alarmed to see Logan clutching a bloody nose and Roman gaping at him, trying to stutter out an apology.
"Logan!" Patton cried out shrilly leaping from his seat and quickly helping his crush friend to his feet. Logan groaned in slight pain and allowed Patton to guide him to the dining room table, where Patton settled him down in one of the chairs and pulled a few tissues from the kleenex box on the table. Logan smiled gratefully and took the tissues from him, pressing them to his nose and tipping his head back.
"Sorry I didn't do something...I'm such a wimp," Patton muttered, folding his hands in his lap and looking down, sighing softly. Logan shook his head and patted Patton's hands reassuringly.
"Not true. You're helping now, which is quite unnecessary but welcomed," Logan said, voice muffled slightly by the tissues. Patton smiled and almost took Logan's hand in his, but quickly stopped himself. Now was not the time.
"Oh, well, I had to do something. You got hurt," Patton said, shrugging. Logan chuckled, stammering over his words a bit. Why on earth did Patton have to be such a...a sweetheart?.
"Well, I-"
"Oh my God, just kiss already, you awkward nerds!" Virgil shrieked. "You're under the mistletoe and you still won't take a hint!" Logan's mouth fell open in surprise and Patton looked up, squealing with delight as he spotted the branch of mistletoe hanging from the chandelier. Logan clamped his mouth shut and glanced at Patton, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Well, this is...um...I don't...do you want t-?" Logan was cut off in the middle of his rambling as Patton wrapped his arms around his neck and pressed his lips against Logan's in a sweet, cute little kiss that felt like sunshine and happiness and everything that Patton embodied. Logan's eyes fluttered and when Patton pulled away he slumped backward in his chair, stunned. Virgil and Roman looked up, just barely above the couch, watching the two with bated breath. Patton swallowed hard and took in a shaky, nervous breath. Logan brought his fingers to his lips, hand trembling slightly.
"Can we...can we do that again?" Logan asked, voice small and quiet, so unlike his usual self. Patton gasped and cupped Logan's face in his hands, kissing him again, but this time more passionately. Logan hummed happily and pulled Patton onto his lap, wrapping his arms around Patton's waist. Roman and Virgil freaked out on the couch, hugging each other and frantically and screaming/squealing/crying silently with joy. When they finally pulled away from the kiss Logan sucked in a much-needed breath, still blown away. Patton kissed him. Patton loved him. Him, Logan, the emotionless, robotic man that could never possibly find love.
"Merry Christmas, dear," Patton murmured, smiling softly and pressing a kiss to Logan's nose.
Merry...Merry Christmas, Patton," Logan said quietly, resting his head on Patton's shoulder and closing his eyes, sighing happily. Patton grinned, resting his head on top of Logan's and stroking his hair gently.
"I knew it would work," Roman whispered, smiling fondly as Logan and Patton cuddled on the dining room chair.
"You truly do have the best ideas, love," Virgil said with a chuckle, nuzzling into Roman's shoulder. Roman blushed and tilted Virgil's chin upward.
"C'mere, you," he said and captured Virgil lips in a kiss. Virgil giggled happily and pulled Roman close, sighing into the kiss and practically melting into Roman's arms.
It was a very Merry Christmas indeed.
