Perspective
Sup guys! So many of you requested analogical so here you go!
Trigger warning: Panic attack, self depreciating thoughts.
~Virgil's POV~
Many thoughts swarmed through my head as I sat in my room. None of them were very good.
You're so worthless.
No I'm not.
Why lie to yourself? You've seen how the others look and act around you! You disgust them!
No! Th-That's not true!
Yes it is. You know it is. Don't kid yourself. You're a monster. A disorder. Why would they want you around?
Because...
You don't have an answer, do you? That's because there isn't one. You're so pathetic. You're always bringing them down! You ruin everything! All of Roman's ideas! All of Patton's happiness! All of Logan's plans! Thomas suffers and it's your fault!
I-
Nothing you do will ever be good enough! There's nothing you can do to redeem yourself! You're always making mistakes because you are a mistake! Everything is YOUR FAULT!!!
My eyes go wide as tears fall rapidly. I feel my throat close up as my lungs beg for the oxygen they're being denied. My heart beats faster as my panic increases. Small pricks of pain go unnoticed as my nails dig into my skin. The world around me becomes more daunting as my vision blurs and my ears ring.
I don't realize that somebody has entered my room. I don't register the bed dipping as said person sits down beside me. The only thing that gets through to my shocked system is when a hand starts rubbing calming circles into my back.
I turn to see a person that my panicked mind can't assign a name to at the moment. Their lips are moving but I can't make out what they are saying. I focus on clearing the static in my mind until I can hear them.
"-eathe Virgil, just try to breathe. In for four, hold for seven, out for eight. Can you do that for me?" the person says.
I try to respond but I can't manage to get any words out, so I just focus on what they asked me to do. My first attempt doesn't go so well. I start coughing about three seconds into the seven second hold. I don't know who this person is but I feel like I've failed them, making more tears run down my face.
"Hey, hey, it's alright. Try again," they instruct.
I try again. This time I actually manage to make it through the breathing exercise.
"Good, just like that. Keep doing that for me Virge," they say in an encouraging tone.
I keep going, breathing in, holding it, and breathing out. I do the breathing exercises as the person guides me out of my attack. Soon, my mind and vision has cleared enough for me to register my surroundings.
I look next to me, eager to find out who helped me with my attack. My eyes widen as I find myself leaning into Logan while he continues to rub calming circles on my back. I had no idea he could be so gentle. He's always been cold and calculated, with the kind of no-nonsense personality you might expect from your teacher or boss.
"T-Thanks Logan, I'm s-sorry you had to see that..." I mutter out, cursing myself for stuttering.
"It is quite alright Virgil, you needed assistance. Might I ask what brought about your panicked state?" he replies. After I hesitate he adds, "However if you do not wish to speak about it, that's fine. I will not force you do to something you do not want to do."
"I-It's just... Am I worthless?" I ask, looking up at him. I see something in his eyes soften as he pulls me into a gentle hug.
"Of course not," he says, "You mean very much to all of us."
"But all I do is bring you down!" I protest, "I'm always so negative while the rest of you are positive... I don't get why you put up with me..."
"You do not bring us down. You keep us level-headed and give us healthy doses of reality when we need them most. You are a true asset to us and I don't know what we would do without you." He responds. I stay silent, analysing every word he said. When I don't respond, he speaks up again.
"I care very deeply for you Virgil. I... I think I love you."
I gasp when I hear those words. Looking up at him once again, I search his features for any hint of untruthfulness, anything that reveals that he doesn't truly mean what he says. I find none. I can see he's waiting for a response.
"Logan?"
"Yes Virgil?"
I lean up and press a soft kiss to his lips. His eyes widen in shock before he relaxes and melts into the kiss. The kiss is slow and careful but also confident and passionate. We break apart and look into each others eyes.
"I love you too."
