Patton skips down the sidewalk, a crown of yellow daisies nestled into his dark hair. He spots a long-haired Golden Retriever and races over to it, already ten minutes late from the fifteen other dogs he stopped to pet.

The Retriever jumps up onto Patton, wagging its tail as Patton pets its soft head. The owner, distracted by his phone, looks up once or twice as the dog lets out two excited barks.

The wonderful spring air had taken away all of his worries and fears, replacing them with a false hope of freedom when spring-break came. Spring break's over now, but he still hasn't thought a moment about his outfit. He tightens his yellow jacket around his waist as he pulls himself away from the dog that barks again with a complaining tone.

Dogs always  bring up Pattons mood and allow him to forget about all his worries.

Patton picks up the pep in his step as he continues down the sidewalk.

The school soon comes into view and yet Patton doesn't speed up, even though he's now twenty minutes late.

When he finally reaches the school, Roman races up to Patton. "What are you wearing?!" Roman stops himself from crashing into Patton.

Patton looks at Roman's jersey, his face falls. It isn't Roman's usual green-and-black jersey, but a red-and-white one. "The...pep rallies after school."

Roman shakes him. "Of course it is! Dee sent out a reminder!" He drags Patton behind him as they head into school. "We will fix this before Dee sees."

Patton frowns, mumbling to himself.

Patton shuffles out of the bathroom with a new shirt with the school colors on it. He runs his fingers through his hair missing his flower crown. He never got to wear one all year and now his flower crown is in the trash. His face is flushed after Roman had seen him in the crown, but that feeling had grown worse when he had also forgotten about the rally.

He pulls himself up standing right up and starts to walk forward. He needs to get to class before he get's more detention then he already had. 

He shifts his backpack and looks down his nose at Thomas who is passing him. Without a moment to spare, Thomas trips on his shoelaces and falls forward knocking into Pattons arm cuasing them both to fall to the ground.
