Baby Virgil
(Prompt)
I hold him in my arms and rock him back and forth. This is probably the 46th time he's freaked out like this since he was given to us. I don't see why Patton couldn't take care of him.
"Here, Remus. Take him for a moment" I hand him over to Remus and sigh.
"You going to go confront Patton again?" I nod and put on my shoes, walking out of the house.
The other's place is pretty far away. Off where everything's warm and beautiful. While we're stuck in the cold with no form of life surrounding us for miles.
I could just teleport to Patton using the emergency device he gave me, but it's a much better day out today than yesterday. Which means, one of the 'main sides' are near our turf. I, unfortunately, have to find out who it is before Remus even notices.
I walk around and look up, the clouds seeming to disappear more, which means it's either Patton or Roman. With Logan grass grows exactly 3 inches instead of not being there at all. Also, with Patton a few animals come over to our side. Roman just makes it more sunny outside, so it's probably Roman.
I observe my surroundings and indeed find Roman wandering through the dark woods. I walk over to him and see him glance at me. He seems to freak out before trying to walk away again.
I catch up to him and get in his way. "What are you doing here?" Roman backs up and rolls his eyes.
"I came to see my brother. Now if you'll excuse me-" He tries walking past me but I stretch my arm out to stop him. I can't let him go there. If he finds out about the kid, me and Remus are screwed.
"Remus has been on guard lately. He'll kill me if you show up without my warning so, you might just want to wait a bit. For my sake and yours." Good enough excuse. It's Roman though so of course he didn't buy it.
"Are you kidding me? My brother is never on guard. I know you're Deceit but you can at least tell me why you actually don't want me there." I roll my eyes. If only he knew.
"Roman, look. I'm not going to go see Patton. Maybe if you didn't come with, afterwards I could bring you to see your brother." Roman sighs and nods. I'll need Roman to escort me there so Logan doesn't get mad at my presence, anyways. I would've been able to do it on my own but, he helps too.
We both walk the way he came in a peaceful silence. Well, other than the fact that the more I think about how Patton just left the kid for us to deal with the more I get angry. Roman must be able to sense my anger, because he decides to break the silence.
"So why do you want to see Patton, anyways?" I sigh and look around, noticing we aren't in the dark woods anymore. We're in the 'extras' cove.
"I don't have something to complain about. It's not a personal matter that you could definitely be involved in." I hear Roman groan and look at him, seeing him watching me, annoyed.
"What's so special I can't know about? Does Remus know? I bet everyone except for me knows. I don't see why people don't trust me with this stu-"
"Logan doesn't know. Remus knows, but he's also living with me. None of the " Extras" know. This is something between me, Remus, and Patton. We aren't telling anyone."
I hate not lying, mainly because it's hard. But it's just so hard to keep my cool around Roman he's just so irritating. He's worse than Remus and that's saying something.
I'm surprised he's even following. You'd think him to be the rebellious one. I mean, Remus pretty much does what I tell him. We don't fight too often. Ok, that's a lie. But he isn't too bad. He's hard to deal with, but at least he's never tried to kill his brother. (Long story)
I realize we've reached the light house when I run into the door. I hear Roman laugh and I glare at him, rubbing my head. I open the door and walk inside, heading straight towards Patton's room.
"I'll be back out in a bit then we can go see Remus." I walk down the hallway and knock on Patton's door, hearing shuffling from inside. The door opens to reveal Patton, looking much more well-rested than when I last came to confront him.
"Deceit! Uh, come in." He let's me in and I sit on his bed. He closes his door and sighs, watching me.
"Let me guess, you're here because of him?" I nod.
"He hasn't been keeping us up all night. And it's definitely not the 46th panic attack he's had while with us." I sigh, lowering my now throbbing head.
"Why can't you just take care of him?" Patton sits next to me and raises my head, feeling my forehead. I flinch when it feels like he's just stabbed me. He retracts his hand and sighs.
"You already know why, Dee. The other two wouldn't react kindly to him. Besides, this is you repaying me for babysitting Remus three times a week."
"Yes but that was three times a week. This is every day." Patton shakes his head.
"Deceit, I'm so thankful that you're taking care of him, but I can't let the other two find out about him. They'd freak out. Then he would freak out and then it'd just be one huge mess. Plus we both know that it took 5x the amount of work to take care of baby Remus."
"And I still had to deal with Remus more! You were the one who decided to create that kid! I shouldn't be held responsible! Neither should Remus- GOD MY HEAD IS KILLING ME"
I lay back and hold my head in my hands. I hear Patton chuckle a little and the throbbing just becomes worse.
"Well what did you do?"
"I didn't run into the front door because I wasn't lost in thought and Roman didn't warn me."
"Roman?"
"Oh, yeah. He wasn't walking through the dark woods to go see Remus but Remus isn't taking care of the kid. So I had Roman come here with me so I could bring him to see Remus and hide the kid in time."
Patton nods and I sigh. I don't wanna talk anymore. It hurts my brain.
"Do you wanna stay here for a little to rest your head? I could bring Roman myself."
Reluctantly, I get up. When I stand I get a searing pain in my head and I almost fall over. Almost. Patton gets up and lays me down on the bed.
"Alright you just rest here and I'm gonna bring Roman to see Remus for a little bit. I don't want you walking around when you can barely stand"
He lays a blanket on top of me and takes my hat off, setting it on the nightstand next to his bed. He turns off the light and walks out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
