Patton's P.O.V

The sound of laughter fills the air. The smell of oak and fresh grass bless us as we walk. The small crunch from the gravel beneath our feet encourage us to move on. The slightly cloudy sky trying to promise happiness. The feeling of Virgil's hand in mine reminds me of what I found earlier today.

Today is not a good day. I'm aware of that. Not for him, anyways. And if it isn't a good day for him, it isn't a good day for me. It's my mission to make today a good day. Virgil depends on it.

"The weather is beautiful today, don't you think, Virgil?" Virgil looks down at me. I smile up at him and close my eyes, trying to make him happy. I open my eyes and see him smiling too.

"Yeah... It sure is." We continue walking, and after some time we end up sitting under a tree in the grass, watching kids running around. The small breeze sends a peaceful vibe and I take a deep breath. Virgil has been quiet this entire walk, only talking when talked to.

"Hey, Patton?" I look at Virgil and see that he's not even looking at me, keeping his eyes fixated on the small pond not too far away. Something is on his mind, and I'm not sure if I want to know what.

"Yeah kiddo?" He changes positions, resting his head on my shoulder. I feel my nerves start gathering once I see his hand fidgeting with the sleeve of his hoodie.

"Why did you want me to come with you today? Not that I mind, but yesterday you were so excited to bring Roman with you today but... You brought me instead. Why?"

I look away from him. I can't tell him the truth, but I can't lie to him either. I can't stay silent either. It'll only worry him.

"Patton? You ok?" I start tearing up and I clutch my hand in the grass next to me. No. I'm not ok. But he can't know that. I look at him, seeing him sitting up, watching me. He looks concerned.

"I-I'm fine kiddo. I just... Want today to be a good day." Virgil's eyes widen at that, his hand going over his mouth. I can't hold it in any more. I break down in tears and he hugs me tightly. I sob into his chest, holding onto his hoodie for dear life.

"P-Pat I'm so sorry you know I- you know I'd never..." I can't hear him anymore. The sounds of my own emotions block out his voice.

"I-I'm sorry kiddo. I know you wouldn't but I just- I can't help but worry." Patton don't lie to him.

I shake my head, trying to get rid of the voice. I'm not lying to him. He would never. I know that.

"You ok Patton?" Go ahead, tell him all about how gullible you are. Tell him how you read every word like it was his last.

"Yeah. Just uh, thinking a bit. Hey- sorry about... Breaking down. I was supposed to make today special but instead I uh... Let my emotions get the better of me."

And you should do it more often. I'm sure he just loves dealing with your emotions. Especially the bad ones. He must hate it when you feel those. You know, because he definitely loves you. He wants to make you feel heard. Special. Important.

"Please stop..."

Don't hide from the truth now, Patton. You can't lie to yourself forever.

"Pat- seriously, what's wrong?" Show him your weaknesses. Let him see just how pathetic you really are

I quickly stand up and back into the tree, my eyes shut tightly. My hands entangle themselves in my hair and I scream, "My only weakness is you!"

My eyes shoot open and I drop my hands, turning my head to see Virgil. He looks freaked out and upset. God I hope he doesn't think I was talking to him.

"V-Virgil I-"

"Save it."

He turns and walks away. I follow after him.

"No, Virgil please you don't understa-" He turns around to face me. Something in me tells me that he isn't even remotely mad. He's just confused and scared and upset.

"Understand what? What am I supposed to understand here?" I flinch at his tone and curl in on myself a little. His voice reminds me of Deceit. Only a little though.

"I-I... I wasn't talking.... to you, Virgil. Believe me you aren't a weakness at all I just-" I see Deceit pop up behind Virgil, smirking.

"Then who were you talking to?"

"Me bitch"
